The house is in a great location with everything you need to relax and unwind. We had three generations and all of us had the best time. There was plenty of room and the house was very well kept. There are puzzles and board games and a huge yard with a dock. The owners were so kind through the entire process.
Wow! We enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, well-stocked, and storage is labeled for functionality. Bernie has a eye for details as noticed throughout the house. All was is good working order. The water pressure is excellent. I loved the old school washer that actually uses water as opposed to the new HE washers. The dyer has a squeak for a few minutes until it warms up but no worries....shutting the laundry room door helps. Bernie is excellent with communication! She answered ALL of my many questions. If she didn't know the answer, she found the answer. She informed us about a short internet outage one evening. We were too busy playing and hadn't noticed. I highly recommend renting this property. You will not regret it! Thank you, Bernie, for a really good time and sharing your home.
We stayed at a VRBO property on Lake Gaston during Spring Break and had a fantastic experience. The home was spotless and well-maintained, and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals comfortably. We especially enjoyed having access to the kayaks and paddleboardâthey added a fun, relaxing element to our stay. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet, providing the perfect setting to unwind and rejuvenate. The host was very informative and responsive, which made our stay even smoother. A special thanks to the kind neighbor who went above and beyond to help my son retrieve his phone from the lakeâtruly appreciated! We highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a serene and welcoming getaway.
Good size house, quiet area, great screened porch, powerful AC, need a boat if staying here
Quaint house on a shared gravel drive about 25 min from town, 5 min from a dollar general. Large screened porch was peaceful. AC will freeze you out which is great in summer. Spacious living area. Dock is fun for fishing but water is only a few feet deep at deepest point so couldnât catch anything bigger than your hand and kids didnât want to get in the swampy water to swim which was disappointing. There are 3 kayaks, but they were inundated with spiders and sit inside type rather than sit on top which made the spider situation more sketchy and also could not get out of them once in deeper water to swim. The back side of the kayak rack had poison ivy so couldnât even get to that one. There is extensive poison ivy lining the woods of the front and back yards, so beware if you bring a dog and try to keep your kids away from the trees. I wouldnât recommend staying here unless you are brining a boat, unless staying at the house is your thing. We had planned to rent the pontoon boat at the house but the owner pulled it out of the water the day before our arrival despite pleas not to do so. The master bath/closet has moderate mold odor so if you are sensitive, have asthma, etc this could be a concern. You are expected to bring your own sheets and pillow cases, which is unusual and I missed in the details. If you use theirs, you have to wash them and repackage them before you check out or it is 25 fee per bed, again unusual. Itâs a nice place but was a bit of a let down for us.
This is my group of friendâs 3rd year staying here!!! As always the stay was perfect! Great location & checks all of our boxes! Owner very responsive & great to rent from! Would definitely stay there again!
Great peaceful property exactly as listed. Bernie was a great communicator and the neighbors were super friendly. We used the kayaks and paddleboard daily. Jimmies Creek is a lower traffic area which works well for the kayak and SUP. Highly recommended.
The house and dock were perfect for our family of 6 adults! Large well furnished kitchen, 3 different tables for meals/games, & we loved the kayaks for morning entertainment! Thanks for the great memories!
Les points faibles : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
Not a good experience
The home was clean, and the neighbors sharing the driveway were kindâbut thatâs where the positives end.On June 11, after the refund window had closed, I was sent a 12-page document filled with restrictive rules and details that should have been in the original listingâmost importantly, that the dock is shared. Had that been disclosed upfront, I would have chosen a different property. Guests are also expected to take the trash bins to the road, which is unreasonable for a vacation rental.Linens were not included, but this was buried in a photo caption and the documentânot clearly stated in the main listing.A thunderstorm knocked out power for 17 hours. No flashlight or emergency supplies were available. The owner offered minimal communication and no real assistance beyond telling me to go buy ice and sharing updates from Spectrum. I lost over 200 worth of food purchased for the week. The house was 82 degrees overnightâmiserable. After I left the property, I received an accusatory message from the owner blaming my family for ceiling damage that was already present when we arrived. Yes, I shouldâve reported it soonerâbut to be blamed for what appears to be existing mold or water damage after just six days is absurd. This experience felt like a bait-and-switch followed by poor communication and unfair treatment. I would not stay here again, and I strongly urge future renters to ask for all documentation and rule disclosures before booking.
We stayed at Bernieâs house with some of our old college friends and had an awesome time. House was perfect for three couples - and we really enjoyed the easy dock access for the boat we rented.
We loved the screened in porch and use of the kayaks. It was easy to walk the dogs in the neighborhood. The neighbors were also very hospitable. Thanks so much
We would love to come back again
Very nicely decorated and furnished lake house with a screened in porch and beautiful lake view. Kitchen was well equipped, wifi and cable worked well. Bernie was informative and responded quickly. We had a very relaxing week and would have loved to be able to stay longer.
We had a wonderful week at this property. The house was very clean and comfortable! The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need to cook. Bernie made check in easy and responded promptly with any questions I had about procedures and the house. We would definitely stay here again!
We had such a great vacation!! The house was clean and beautiful and so well stocked with everything you would find at home and more. The neighbors were so friendly and welcoming. And Bernie answered all my questions right away! Would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing lake getaway.
We spent Thanksgiving at this beautiful property. Love renting from a person rather than a company every time! Communication was fabulous and all check in and check out was simple. The house was exactly as listed, clean and tidy. We had plenty of room and loved the open feel. Would certainly visit in winter or summer!
Thank you for a great get away!
Bernie was extremely easy to work with. She was easy to get in touch with, and was very responsive to texts and emails. The house was located right on the lake and was perfect for our family. It had everything we needed. The fact that it had 3 kayaks was an added bonus. It was great to be able to walk out the back door and drop the boats right into the lake. The neighbors were very nice and we enjoyed talking to them. If you are looking for a clean, quiet place to stay, this is your place. We will be back!
Had an intergenerational week-long family getaway on the lake. Love lake Gaston, the kayaks and paddle board were great. We rented a boat for a day and had no problems docking it. We had a lot of rain one day and the puzzles and other games in the house kept us entertained. The best part was the owner's responsiveness! We had lots of questions and added the boat late and she was so quick to answer and very accomodating.
When we purchased our pleasure boat in 2017, it didn't come with a dock. So, in between the mooring's in the garage, we would book getaways to various waterways near Richmond and found Lake Gaston to be our favorite destination. We fell in love with the area and all the little coves we could explore by boat. We purchased our little piece of heaven as a personal vacation getaway with the possibility of sharing our love of the water with other vacationers like us. We hope you feel like you are at home when you plan your stay at the Summer Fun because we had you in mind when we decided to offer it to you on VRBO.
In addition to all the boating opportunities Lake Gaston offered, the general lay back lifestyle of the residents and visitors in the area resonated with us. Our son loves to fish, so when we started looking for a place of our own it was important to have a convenient fishing hole near the dock. Having convenient access to safe water for kayaking was also important. When we found Heritage Pointe this was an easy check on that box. There is a no-wake zone just north of our cove. Finding something tucked away from all the wave action from the main lake, but close enough to access was high on my list, and Heritage Pointe checked all those boxes too. Being a VRBO customer like you before we purchased, gave me insight on what you should expect at your temporary home. Top of the list, was having a dock to tie my boat to. It had to be in good repair and safe, with lighting. Next on my list was convenient access to the main lake by boat. I didn't want to navigate under tunnels or bridges to get to there. Next, a house in good repair without bugs or safety code violations. High on the comfort list, started with comfortable beds, furniture that wasn't falling apart and a fully equipped kitchen. You shouldn't have to pack skillets and measuring cups when you go on vacation, but...I used to. Because some of the rentals were so poorly equipped I started packing half my kitchen in the car. At The Summer Fun, you will have plenty of cookware, utensils, dishes and bowls to make almost anything. So leave all that stuff at home, including saran wrap! There is an electric griddle, vegetable steamer, drip coffee maker, espresso coffee maker, mini chopper, ninja blender, mixing bowls, casserole dishes, wine glasses, measuring cups and spoons, dishwasher tabs, dish towels, grilling tools and propane tank for your use.
If you are looking for peace and quiet on your vacation, this is the place for you. Our nearby neighbors are year round residents and not the partying types. They are cordial and will introduce themselves and help you launch a kayak or tie your boat off, but please respect their privacy as they will respect yours. If you are nice, they might introduce you to the best fishing hole on Jimmies Creek and invite you to a fishing challenge.
