Historic Limestone House in park setting in Ozarks
This unique Limestone house was constructed 80 years ago from stone quarried from the property. The house sits on 20 acres and is very private. It was added on and the interior remodeled in the 1960s and just again in late 2019. It is bordered by a park on one side and HaHaTonka State Park on three sides. It is set on a picturesque bank of the Bank Branch Creek that flows into the Lake of the Ozarks. Except right after a rain, the water is 2 ft to 5 feet deep with little to no current, crystal clear and perfect for swimming , kayaking and fishing right outside your door! You can Kayak right into Lake of Ozarks which is a block downstream. There are two double and one single Kayaks , and paddle boards for use at the house. An old iron bridge from the late 1800's completes the setting for this retreat. If you desire a quiet and private home setting yet within 10 minutes of downtown Camdenton, and all the shopping you could want within a half hour, this is it. There are many beautiful golf courses within a half hour drive and the famous Kinderhook GC is a mere 12 minutes away. A large public boat launch, Larry Gale Center is 12-15 minutes to launch your boat. Many hiking trails are 1 mile away at the Ha Ha Tonka State Park Center with its Castle, waterfalls and caves to explore. The park property surrounds the house. It is rated the best state park in Missouri. This family oriented house has 4 newly remodeled bedrooms and three baths. The master bedroom and two guest rooms have new queen beds. The fourth bedroom has two sets of bunkbeds with trundle bed. There is a newly remodeled large kitchen and family room with unbelievable views. Can sleep up to 11 in beds and 2 more on pull out couch. Everyone who sees the house is just mesmerized by the setting and the views! It is a stone house set in the middle of nature. There is an outdoor grill and fire pit for the evenings. The house is oriented so you can enjoy the deck, privacy and the outdoors. The setting is perfect to spend quality time with friends and family.
We stayed for 4 days/3 nights middle of June 2025.The house is plenty big for a family/friends vacation. We enjoyed the pool table and river. We cooked nightly and the kitchen was stocked with all of the basics. The a/câs worked wonderfully, which was great because it was very hot and humid during our stay. The driveway to get into the property is a gravel road that at the beginning is steep with ruts. A small light car (which we had) had a difficult time getting up the driveway without bottoming out and getting thrown a bit when hitting the rut. The actually parking area is also very steep but it is concrete. The house was clean except that it seemed as though no one had been there in a while and there was a lot of bugs, cobwebs and we had 2 small snakes come into the house while we were there. The carpet was dirty and we tried to vacuum but the vacuum was not picking up anything, just shooting it out the back.Do not expect to have any Wi-Fi. When he says enough to check email, heâs not lying. No streaming of anything. The projector you can barely hear the volume. You will be totally unplugged while there. This is nature, which we loved, but be prepared with a lot of bug spray and picking Ticks off of yourself. If you hate nature, this is not the place for you.We loved our stay though and had no problems with check in or out. Make sure to read the property book as soon as you get there. We failed to do this and it resulted in some unnecessary texts to Dean.
Our family loves staying here. We are close to the city if we want to do something but otherwise the house and water offer enough to enjoy there. Its quiet and very peaceful.
We booked this property for our annual guys trip. We were looking for a place that was secluded, near a stream and suitable for star gazing.
This place was perfect. During the days we usually fished and when we were done with that we'd swim a cooler across the creek and hang out on the sandbar.
At night we usually sat outside on the porch overlooking the stream and watch the stars.
We've already discussed booking this house again for next year.
We had 4 generations of family--from 11 to 88. This location was the perfect place to celebrate our grandson's birthday. It was a pleasant and unique place to stay. The kids absolutely loved it.
The house is very large--with four generous bedrooms with a pull out couch bed in the living room. There are three nice bathrooms. One downstairs and two upstairs. The kitchen table is large and wonderful. There is an additional table in the living room.
The property was a bit of a challenge for me to find and to drive up to. (Admittedly, I am directionally challenged & had an underpowered rental car.) Fortunately, one of our party arrived earlier. Because not knowing for sure that we were on the right trail made the private property sign intimidating at 2AM!
The back driveway is incredibly steep. But, I would not recommend driving over the old bridge. The bridge makes a great fishing platform and lovely picture setting, though!
The kids adored the kayaks and paddle boards. The river is fairly shallow which meant the kids were more free to explore. It also feels very private.
I would recommend this house to anyone wanting a restful place.
However, be aware that all bedrooms are upstairs. If you have mobility issues this is not the house for you. And if you have a need for high speed internet, this is also not the house for you. Even cell reception is a bit difficult without driving into town.
The town has adequate shopping and dining. Ha Ha Tonka is a nice, nearby outing,
This was a great place to stay! Weather was perfect, location was pretty and secluded yet close to everything. Its a bit off the beaten path, but well worth it!! We want to book again.
Overall we enjoyed our stay. I didnât mind that we didnât have great internet because it forced us to do what we went to do - relax! While it was dated, the kids thought the best thing about the house was the intercom system. It was great to be right on the water just be careful going down the steps.
My family and I stayed at Deans for the 4th of July and it was perfect! Not the busy lake traffic but easy access to it! You could still see the fireworks alsođ The house was the perfect size for the 10 of us and the creek is beautiful! Would recommend and would definitely stay here again!
We had 6 adults and kids from 5-14. Good time for hanging out with family relaxing, visiting, game, fishing, floating on paddle boards and kayaks. Swimming was a little tricky. Entering water at he house isnât the easiest nut a short walk to sand bar and beach worked great. Be sure to bring some lawn chairs for sitting around fire pit as there were none. The house is very spacious and supplies in the kitchen were pretty good. Very easy access to activities in town and to Ha Ha Tonka State Park. We really had a great family get together.
We rented this property with the goal of connecting with our young adult sons (23 and 24). They came and went as their work schedules allowed. The old stone house is right on the creek but away from the bustle of the lake. It is truly the most peaceful place weâve ever stayed. If you go, take a good camera - we saw a great Blue Heron every day, otters, turtles, deer, hummingbirds, and more. The water us so clear you can see to the bottom, and the fish are plentiful. The guys caught everything from bass to catfish, with one catch of a 15 inch large mouth bass. The house itself is very comfortable with good mobility access - lots of common space for âfriendlyâ games of Hearts and Poker, but bedrooms upstairs for privacy too. The owner provides paddle boards and kayaks, and our boys explored the lake this way for a full day. The house is also minutes from the Castle Ruins and the Spring trails at HaHa Tonka State Park. We loved our time hiking. Missouri knows how to do state parks! The internet is as advertised - good for checking email - which means everyone is present and not consumed by their phones. That was priceless! We highly recommend this place for families who want to enjoy each other and make some memories. We sure did!
Absolutely beautiful home in a tranquil setting. Felt like we were a million miles away from reality, yet, still very close to shops and restaurants. HaHa Tonka State Park is beautiful and a must see! We spent one of the days floating in the creek right in front of the house (it was my favorite day)! Highly recommend this property!
This large house is well appointed with lots of comfy seating and beds. The kitchen had everything we needed. It has a HUGE washer and dryer. The A/C runs cold, the bathrooms are updated and they have fluffy towels. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards. It's very close to a lot of hiking trails and just a 20 minute drive to the store. It's a quiet, unplugged place to stay. No TV, lots of games and a pool table. It was a great place to stay for 7 large adults, we had plenty of room!!!
We had a fantastic time. The house was very clean and the extra options for entertainment (pool table, paddle boards, fire pit, etc) made the trip a lot of fun for our kids.
This is a really interesting property with a lot of history. It is a large stone home with big rooms and windows that face the creek. You can swim, fish and kayak out front. Great golf and hiking are just a few minutes away. I recommend a trip to the state park.
FYI - there is limited internet and television. Bring a hot-spot if you need internet access.
A perfect place for quality family time and beautiful nature
Our family loved this property and the memories made while staying there. We had two toddlers with us, and they had a blast! The adults enjoyed the view, kayaking and exploring the nature trail. We had family movie night inside with the projector TV after enjoying a peaceful bonfire and view of the stars. There were plenty of wildlife to see as well, including a massive turtle in the spring and a beautiful water snake showing off its hunting skills.
We all really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect and we really, really loved playing in the creek. From Kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and just sitting creek side, we loved our stay and the location to Ha Ha Tonka State Park. Having your own private historic bridge was so unique and never would've imagined was even an offering at a vacation rental.
Memories are what we made at this house. Lots of room for the littles to run and the adults to enjoy.
The paddle boards and the kayaks were wonderful along with all the toys.
We cooked at the house for all of our meals and used the washer and dryer.
Rent this house to make your family memories. We are planning for next year already.
This was our second visit. The location is perfect for us. We enjoy floating and visiting with each other. The kayaks were fun. We played games and enjoyed each other's company. First rate trip!
This property is a nice place to stay at. The creek that runs thru is excellent for lounging in. Rooms are spacious. Amenities are great. Well stocked. One word of caution though.. don't cross the bridge in vehicles and the road to the house you need a SUV or truck to not bottom out. Luckily all of us had that and it was a great stay! Dean was easy to get ahold of and super nice!
So peaceful and quiet. The 20 acres provide complete privacy. Nature surrounds you and the wildlife is really special. The house setting reminds you of a Thomas Kinkade painting in all of the seasons. The parks surround the house so it cannot be built around. Bald eagles, deer, fish, turtles, ducks and geese are abundant. We fell in love with the setting and the house. Remodeled in 2019.
