The cabin was very nice and clean! Located close to shopping, beach/park, downtown, restaurants. A little warm without a/c, but plenty of fans provided. On Old 27 highway, but was very quiet. Parking was a little confusing.
Beautiful cabin with everything you could possibly need. The location is awesome and the neighborhood is nice and quiet. We would definitely stay here again and recommend. Tad is a terrific host. Thank you for a lovely stay.
My family and I stayed at this property and had a great time! The cottage is clean and much more spacious than we realized. We were able to fit 5 adults comfortably. The only downside is that you have to cross the highway to get to the lake, but once you do there is a lovely deck to hang out on. Overall we enjoyed our stay!
We stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage and one of the 2 bedroom cabins which was perfect for our group. Very clean, easy instructions and great location for the family reunion we were attending. Way better than staying at a hotel and more affordable. Bonus was the view of the lake across the street.
Beds and pillows could be more comfortable, maybe a light by front door that doesn't attract the bugs, other than that the place was just what we needed, wanted and it was as described.
We stayed for half a week this August and it was exactly as described. Just be aware that this is a cabin near the lake, you will have to cross the street to get to the dock and expect lots of insects and spiders to be there too!
Don't be scared by the first impression. Surrounding cabins look rough which made our first impression leary. However, as soon as we walked inside we were completely delighted! Very clean, spacious bedrooms, nice layout. Would definitely stay here again.
The cottage was very clean and comfortable with plenty of space for 5 teenagers plus my husband and myself. Iâve never been to Otsego Lake but already know we will be back; the water was very nice this time of year. We rented a pontoon for a day and enjoyed having the dock and beach area available for quick stops plus the swimming area and kayaks available were used daily.
The property is nice; close to shopping, restaurants, putt putt golf and Elk park. I would recommend this cottage for people with older children or couples.
Cozy but spacious, super nice host, beautiful lake.
Tad was great, went the extra mile to make our stay fantastic. The cottage is clean and comfortable, exactly as listed. Lake Otsego was gorgeous, good for fishing, swimming and boating. Some nice restaurants options just a few short.miles away. There is no AC, so it was a bit warm in the evening, but it's northern Michigan so it wasn't too bad and there were fans left in the house for us that helped quite a bit. Overall it was exactly what we were looking for and we couldn't have been more pleased.
I was not able to stay at the rental. I reached out to the owner and told him that I tested positive for covid and had to quarantine and I could not stay at the rental. He said he was sorry!
Property was clean and amenities were as listed. As noted in other reviews, access to the lake is across the old highway and railroad tracks. Water was not great while we were there but we were able to kayak. Not a great swimming location for a family but we used this as a home base for other travels. There is a good State Park on one end of the lake and a County Park on the other. Gaylord was a nice little town with some good restaurants and a really great ice cream spot (Alpine Chocolate Haus). It did get a little warm but the provided fans definitely helped. Also, while not listed as provided - be aware that there are no laundry facilities on property. Overall a good stay and Tad was very responsive to our questions!
We stayed here because friends relocated to Gaylord & we helped them move in . We ended up needing to extend our stay & Tad was great & helped us make that happen . We enjoyed our time at the VRBO & the view & the dock & we were glad to be able to help our friends . Great place
We really enjoyed the cabin, it had plenty of room for our snowmobile trailer and extra car. The easy access to the trails was a major advantage, just wish the weather was better for us.
Great location, just had to ride across the street and was on snowmobile trail⊠when we arrived that night âŠ. No snow. That night got 10â of fresh snow. Had an awesome trip
Was very impressed with the ease of checking in and out and the cabin itself was relatively clean on the inside. There was some stains on the sheets of the pull out couch and someones lighter stuffed in there but other than that the rest of the cabin was in good condition.
The title and pictures are a little misleading if you dont know hte area. The cabin itself is not on the water but instead you have to walk across a main highway and railroad in order to get to a shared dock area. You find this out when you get the info about the cabin a few days before. Although we did not have any problems with this and were the only ones using the dock i imagine a family with kids probably would not want to be crossing that road all the time.
Overall great experience for our group and we enjoyed our stay!
My friends & I stayed at this adorable cottage! It's nicely renovated & in a decent area. However, I was fairly disappointed with the availability of necessities. We were left with ONE roll of toilet paper for 6 people and had to go out and buy more on our own. There were no trash bags left to replace the trash we took out. The cottage was also extremely HOT with no AC
Tad & Maia are lifelong residents of Gaylord. We raised our 4-children in the house we built together over 26-years ago, moving in on our wedding night. Tad's an Architect & Builder and Maia works for the State DOC. If you see her, please say hello and thank her for how comfy you slept last night with clean sheets & fresh linens.
The cottage was built around 1948 and has the original stone masonry fireplace as its center piece. The interiors are very cute & cozy with original tongue & groove knotty pine walls, new windows & entry door and awesome view of the lake. The exteriors include a covered entry Porch, parking right outside the door, new insulated roof, fresh cedar log & split shake siding along with cedar board & batten & cedar trim. We're working hard to make this property a treasure for our Guests. Located in the heart of northern lower Michigan there's a bounty of fun, dining & entertainment, enjoy.
Our private 110' deck/dock is anchored at the shoreline by a 24'x16' deck with stairs up to the mainland path. It's secluded and quiet at our lake deck, almost lagoon-like. There's good swimming and fishing right from the dock. The deck/dock is equipped with built-in benches, deck furniture, fire-pit, 3-kayaks with paddles, life vests, kid's toys, pillows and a private beach at the deck. We also have bicycles available for rent.
During the winter the Iron Belle trail is part of the snowmobile trail system, so access is direct from the cottage. We also offer our Guests ice fishing with an insulated / heated shanty, guide service for fishing including spearing is available. All our Guests are welcome to use our amenities so please be courteous with one another.
