Property manager was aggressive and unhelpful. If we hadnât pre paid we would have left. No instructions given about the appliances on arrival. After complaining, the manager returned to show us that at the top of a cupboard there were manuals. There was no demonstration of how to get into the building and we locked ourselves out on the first day. The kettle and toaster were rusted and the mugs filthy. We bought a new kettle. The manager replaced the mugs with new ones. Our shower had to be quick or you would have flooded the bedroom in which it was situated. The toilet seat is so high off the ground that you have to be 180cm tall to have your feet on the ground. But if you were that tall your knees would have been sticking out of the toilet door. Finally the manager promised us that he would help take our luggage downstairs at the end of our stay as we are both in our 70s with medical issues. He refused to do so as it was a Sunday and doesnât work on Sundays.
Location was great for easy access to many restaurants and the old city. Located directly above two restaurants and at least 25 more within 100-200 yards. A bit of a distance from the train station, walking from the train station to the apartment is a very long walk when you are negotiating luggage.
Once you arrive and enter the building, you'll get extreme anxiety about your decision as looks terribly unkept and in bad need of repairs and updating. But the worst part is the apartment is located on the 3rd floor with no lift, so you have to "lug" your luggage up 3 flights of stairs through some rundown hallways. Once you get into the room things get much better.
The bedrooms are ridiculously SMALL, barely enough room to get around the bed. Shower and vanity are "in the room" which isn't a issues unless someone's trying to sleep when you up and getting ready. The toilet is in a VERY SMALL separate "closet" in the bedrooms and about 24-30 inches off the ground, if you under 5'10" your feet will be tangling, and if you over 5'10" your knees will be hitting the door. Beds were comfortable, but there are no sun blocking shades, so you'll be up with the sunrise.
Kitchen was adequate for a short stay with most of the essentials, except a coffee maker. But did have a Nespresso machine. A few more wine glasses would have been nice. Small living area with seating for 3 people, but cozy.
Overall a good value and great location.
Very nice flat at the best spot in Aix-en-Provence
This was a very nice flat equipped with everything one would need to spend his holidays there. The location is fantastic, it is very near to Place des Cardeurs which is littered with so many restaurants and bistros. This is also a perfect starting-point to discover the ancient Aix. Also a good point to start from to visit Arles, Cassis, St.-Tropez, Cannes, Nizza and Monaco. Another nice Spot is Abbaye Senanque with the Lavande-fields near Gordes, which is also very beautiful and interesting for itself.
Kim and Lea were the perfect Hosts, the best we ever had. Very kind, helpful and competent and they solved every problem immediately. If we should return to the provence we will book this apartment for sure again.
Thank you Kim and Lea and very best regards,
Rasak
We loved this apartment and it's location! Wonderful restaurants were just outside our door and we could easily walk to everything. This was the perfect home base for all our excursions to other cities in the south of France; we visited Marseille, Gordes, Casis, Roussillon, Avignon and a few other cities. Having a secure parking space was also a big plus for us. Lea and Kim were fantastic to work with and we would not hesitate to stay here again.
