Large Historic home near Swedetown Trails-pet friendly
Large historic home in Calumet near Swedetown Trails. Great for large groups or family gatherings. The home has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with easy access to everything the Keweenaw Peninsula has to offer.
The house was very clean and accommodating to our large group. The host was very easy to communicate with and responded in a very timely manner. We would definitely stay here again!
Lovely old home, plenty of space and bathrooms, kitchen is wonderfully stocked. Easy access to all there is to do on the Keweenaw. There is some road noise, being right off of 41, so choose one of the back 2 bedrooms if you are an early to bed person or have young children. Jill is easy to reach and extremely attentive. We would definitely choose again!
My siblings and our spouses were in town for a family reunion and had a really delightful stay. We loved the house and its gorgeous original details; the location is close to everything we needed (we especially recommend Keweenaw Coffee Works and the Keweenaw Heritage Center); and Jill, our host, was friendly and responsive. Overall we had everything we needed in a fantastic space, and would definitely stay here again!
The house was very nice, very roomy and comfortable. It was also conveniently located. We loved that we could bike over to Swedetown for great mountain biking. There was a nice beach 10 min away we watched the sunset over Lake Superior. Also, being part way between Copper Harbor and Houghton, it was easy to get to either place.
Visiting daughter at MTU and touring Keewenaw peninsula.
Our family (5 adults) had a great visit with our Daughter who is attending MTU. The house was extremely clean and easy to access with a late arrival. Location was perfect for day trips to hikes and sightseeing in the Keewenaw Peninsula. The beds were comfy and we had a couple of nice family meals together. Large TV was great for catching Lions game.
The home was perfectly located within Keewanaw County. Beautiful drives north, south, east and west!!! And of course, Lake Superior and all inland lakes are so close. The living room is set up so all feel cozy. Beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen is wonderful. The large window is now on my wishlist for my house :). The host is wonderful and answered all of our questions quickly! We would definitely stay here again :).
We love staying here! Jill is a sweet host & her home fits us well for our extended stay in the U.P.
the house is clean with the old house charm in the Copper Country. Thx for your excellent hospitality. We love staying here.
This is a great find, with a lot of space for a very reasonable price. It is well situated to explore Calumet (a surprising - to us - cool town with interesting history) with easy access (5 miles) to the beach, Houghton and not too long a drive to Copper Harbor coasts/hikes. There are four nice (uncluttered, clean) bedrooms and a living space on the upstairs and nice farmhouse style kitchen and two partial bathrooms and laundry downstairs.
It should be noted: there is no 'living area' or bedroom downstairs - which may be an issue for some. Also, the house can accommodate a good number of people (8-10 easily) but there is only one full bathroom with a shower. You will also hear traffic from the busy road - which some of our group was completely oblivious to, but a problem for my husband, who is pretty sensitive to night noise. This may be less of an issue in winter when windows are closed at night.
All in all... the right pick for us, and we'd happily recommend.
This was a great old historic house that we stayed in for the weekend. Plenty of rooms and a nice kitchen. Beautiful architecture inside. A great place to eat and sleep while enjoying Houghton and the peninsula.
This house was perfect for our quick trip to attend our son's gradutaion from Michigan Tech. Every room was incredibly clean and well appointed for our group, and the beds were wonderfully comfortable. Communication with Jill was easy and pleasant. Overall a great stay for our family, and one we would recommend to anyone visiting a student at MTU.
Jill's place is a large house near downtown Calumet.
The house was beautiful with wood staircase and large room. Everything was clean and organized. Jill was also wonderful with her communication
The second floor had 4 large bedroom and bathroom and sitting area.
The main floor has the kitchen - and a section of the floor is a physical therapy area. You can use the exercuse equipment plus there is a foosball table. All the rooms and areas were well kept.
As for other aspects, the wifi was good (I had a zoom call with Africa and the strength was fine). The kitchen was stocked with all the essential items. We loved the large stuffed teddy bear in the sitting room. Jill also provided brochures on local attractions. She had a guest book where people can write comments and advice on local activities
We were a group of 4 adults (2 couples). It was great for our needs
Overall it was a wonderful stay.
Jill - thanks for everything
We really enjoyed the area & this home was wonderful. Jill stocked the house well w toiletries & towels. The kitchen area was wonderful. The house was clean & comfortable. The beds were especially comfortable, she even had fans & comfy pillows. Jill communicated well & helped answer questions promptly. We are grateful to had a nice, clean, comfy place to stay. Our large family was thrilled. Thank you Jill for amazing hospitality!! We look forward to coming back soon.
We needed a big house for our family for a wedding. The house was very clean and lovely. Filled with charm and character. It was a bit weird not to have a family room on the first floor and only the kitchen...but since we were gone a lot that didn't matter too much. It was nice to all have our own bedroom and three bathrooms were great! It's a beautiful house. It fit our needs very well for the long weekend that we were there! Thank you so much!!
Our family enjoyed staying in this well-appointed house. Itâs near a lot of the attractions and near many of the trails. Itâs a good place to stay if you donât mind stairs.
The home was very spacious. Had plenty of space outside for my dog to run around. It was also nice to have access to workout equipment. Only negative I would have is that there is only 1 shower.
Great place for a large group! Clean house, and close to every activity around the area! Beds are comfy and plenty of bathrooms for large groups. Communication with property owner is excellent, very prompt!
We had a great Labor Day weekend at this rental. The property was clean, functional, and met all of our needs. Iâve never stayed at a place with memory foam beds on all the beds - super comfortable. We were visiting our son at MTU and the location was close enough to allow us to check out Houghton several times.
My husband and I are physical therapists and have been in private practice since 2002. We were able to buy this house in 2016 and move our practice into it. We love the house and saw the potential to allow others to enjoy the house as well.
The house is close to downtown as well as the Swedetown trails. Downhill skiing at Mont Ripley and Mount Bohemia are both within a 1/2 hour. Due to our physical therapy practice, there are several pieces of fitness equipment available for use during your stay. There is a large parking area.
