Ocean House est situé en plein centre-ville de Weymouth, 80 m de la plage et à 100 m de la port. Les magasins, pubs, bars et restaurants sont à un jet de pierre Ocean House. La propriété possède de nombreuses caractéristiques de la période de son passé victorien, avec de hauts plafonds, des cheminées d'origine et de grandes fenêtres. Short stay

The property was booked for a fishing party for three days so was really just a Bed for the nights as we were out most of the time. It was well positioned in the centre of Weymouth with two parking permits available for the immediate area (not always easy to find a spot). The property was totally fine for our requirements with several showers albeit they were a bit erratic when more than one were in use). Would book again.

High spec property in a great spot to explore Weymouth

A great house for 4 couples perhaps with 2 extra sharing the largest room. It is in a quiet road just a 3 minute walk from the noisier harbour-side in one direction and the central beach in the other. Well equipped kitchen, ample showers and toilets and newly decorated. Parking is a problem as there is only one car permit and the nearby car park is maximum stay of 3 hours (but free between 6pm and 8am). The only improvement I can think of is thicker bin bags please.

We have managed to source additional parking permits that we can supply to our guests for a small cost. We have now upgraded the bin bags.

Disappointing

Contact with the property owner was excellent and check-in/out was very easy. The location of the property is fabulous for exploring the local area and being in the heart of Weymouth itself but in a quiet residential neighbourhood. Sadly, for our group of 7 adults, the property was overall disappointing. It is generally rather tired, in need of TLC and smelled rather stale. More importantly though, it is in real need of a thorough deep clean throughout. The towels and bed linen were all past their best and the upstairs bathrooms are tiny. We self-cater regularly, individually and as a group, and all agreed this property (location aside) was overall disappointing.

Thank you for your feedback Julie. As discussed we were not informed about any issues at the time of your stay by yourselves. We have ourselves checked over the issues that you have raised and can’t find any issues with bedding and towels or indeed the cleaning issues. You also mentioned that the house you felt wasn’t large enough for the 7 of you, I find with it being a 4 bedroom town house and 2 reception rooms plus kitchen and utility room it is more than big enough for your the 7 of you. Maybe you would have been more suited to a property in more of a rural location. The house was left in an unacceptable state when you checked out due to the dogs you had staying with you, I feel you were aware of this and have indicated the issue were there when you arrived, which they were not, I would urge people to have a look at all our past reviews when deciding to book as you will see our past guests have had excellent stays with us!

Location great, property description did not deliver

The was booked for a 60th birthday/ family get together, so we searched for a property that allowed for creature comforts whilst away - a home from home... the description sounded ideal, but the reality somewhat different... Upon arrival we noticed a smell from the lounge carpets which was in the same room as the dining table, so not pleasant... the Sky Tv only worked in the lounge tv, and so we contacted the host, who did respond quickly... however, the engineer arrived the next day and could only add limited Freeview to two other TVs, so the kitchen and master bedroom... this did not deliver the ability to have our own space in the bedrooms to watch evening programmes as expected... also, no BT Sport or Netflix, and only the downstairs TVs looked/ responded like Smart TVs as adverstised... the engineer told us the set up was poor and the Sky+HD box not built to feed the whole house... The 4 star rating was from July 2015 and not sure if this were reassessed now, that the host would get the same outcome... We were in touch with the host daily, mostly messaging, and whilst we got responses fairly quickly, only one thing was semi-resolved during our stay (getting limited Freeview in the master bedroom TV)... the other things, the carpet smell, kettle that leaked boilong water from the spout, shard of glass found on the bedroom carpet, and mainly the TV packages were acknowledged to be fixed next week... this, is great for future guests, but left us feeling short-changed... The host, on previous reviews, stated the guests should have contacted whilst on their breaks to allow things to be resolved, well there were multible opportunities for our feedback to be actioned, but nothing really achieved... The host accused me of simply angling for a full refund, which I found offensive... if anything, the location is ideal, but the property description did not match reality, as so we feel we were over-charged for what was delivered in our stay... Other minor things to look out for is scolding hot/ freezing cold showers (nothing in between), gas rings cut out on hob, only bath is on ground floor beyond kitchen (so not ideal for our grandson sleeping on the 2nd floor), neighbours smoking substances on the street, dining room table covered in plastic sheeting... The host has told us the kettle will be replaced, as will the carpet, and she maintains the TV packages are as per the description, but this was not the finding of a specialist TV engineer...

Thank you for your comments Ian. We have been in constant contact with you whilst you stayed with us, in fact you spent a lot of time messaging whilst you were on holiday. The carpets as explained had been cleaned a couple of weeks before your stay, no other guests have reported any issues. We state the property has sky tv, it doesn’t state that it is in every room. All TVs were working and could be used with Netflix but you stated you didn’t have an account to log in, BT Sport was also available. The leaking kettle again nobody else mentioned but this has been replaced. The table covering is for cleaning purposes and could be taken off if you had wished to do so. You didn’t raise any concerns with the hot/cold water or gas hob and we are not aware of any issues. Regarding the bathroom it doesn’t state upstairs bath on the property description. Regarding the refund, we did not accuse you at all, you requested a refund to avoid you putting a poor review against our property. We have had 5 star reviews from guests that stayed after your stay so I think that says alot about our property, we feel your intention from the start of your stay was to complain in order to receive a full or partial refund, some of your comments to us regarding our property have been offensive which isn’t warranted at all. All other reviews tell the true story.

Great property in a great location

Ideal location, near the beach, harbour and town centre. We used this property as a base for 6 adults so didn't use the kitchen much but it was very well equipped with everything you might need and we had plenty of space in the property. Lots of toilets and showers! Small outside area but as I said you are in a great location so everything is easily in walking distance.

Lovely stay in a spacious house in a great location

Lovely stay in this 3story town house in a near perfect location in Weymouth. Location is just round the corner from shops and restaurants and 5min walk to the beach. Cleanliness on arrival was not up to a good standard but a quick response from the owners resolved the issue. Very spacious house with plenty of bathrooms for 8+ people. Only drawbacks were boiler was old and needed to be updated as the hot water kept running out, better cleaners and slightly noisy neighbours. Would stay again if a few issues resolved.

Great location, well equipped.

The property is well equipped, there is everything you need. There were 6 adults in our party and we had plenty of room. The location is central and a few minutes from the town and beach. We would all stay again. The owner is very responsive and helpful.

Great property

Had a fantastic stay in Weymouth and it was made easy by the great location of this well equipped and spacious property. Easy and fast communication with the owner who answered all our queries. The added advantage of 2 parking permits was a welcome bonus. Plenty of toilets within the property on all levels great for the old and young. Our only negative was some of the linen could have appeared cleaner / fresher but this would not put us off from staying again or recommending this great property where all the family can stay.

Nice house

We were very lucky got 2 parking saces outside the house, although I think this would be very difficult in high season. The house is decorated really nice and has everything you need we did find the lounge small for 6 adults and 2 children and if you were sat at the side it was difficult to see the television. The sinks in the shower rooms are far too small my husband couldn’t even get his hands them so all the men were shaving in the downstairs bathroom sink and the back yard wants a good tidy up, the website says there is a box with beach stuff in and it is just fit for the skip the crab lines are rusty and tangled the chairs are all mildew it wants emptying steam cleaning to start again. Having said we had a fabulous time and you couldn’t find a better location anywhere.

We really enjoyed our stay at your property.It is ideally positioned for the beach,shops and dining

The property had everything we needed and was well furnished with lots of storage. It was also a plus to have kids bucket,spades and nets for us to borrow.We really appreciated you allowing us to drop off our luggage a little earlier as it made things so much easier with the three children and travelling by taxi.Could I just bring to your attention that the living room light kept flashing, it wasnt a big deal for us as we used the dining area lights,but probably should be sorted and also the flooring material in the yard is a little unsafe as we kept tripping on it.No deal breakers but if not reported cannot be put right. The kids loved the fact that there were so many t.v.s (no squabbles on what to watch) and particulary liked sitting at the breakfast bar in the mornings watching t.v. The heating system was ideal and easy to use,and only needed to be on for an hour or so.Thankyou again for a lovely stay.

Overpriced but Well Positioned

Although we had a wonderful time in Weymouth, it is important to note that the premium price for this property is in regards to its excellent position ( equidistant from beach, harbour and town, each of which are literally a stones throw away) and not the comfort levels of the house. When we arrived and let ourselves in we found that the bin outside had some really dodgy stuff at the bottom which actually made you retch the smell was so bad. We contacted the cleaning company who obviously look after the house for the owner. They did come and clean it out but the smell did linger. None of the showers worked very efficiently. The master bedroom and the 2 twin bedded rooms were fine but one of the single mattresses was uncomfortable. The outside of the house looked very shabby in a street which looked equally uncared for. There was an old piano outside a neighbouring house the whole week we were there. I wonder how often the owner visits the house to check on such things as I have mentioned.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you feel Ocean House didn't meet the standards you had expected. We have looked into and rectified the issues with the showers, if you had contacted us during your stay we would have had the plumbers attend to rectify the issues for you. The bed mattress we will check out, it is a little surprising it is uncomfortable as all the mattresses are the same on the 4 single beds, but we will however look into this. I believe the cleaners came straight away and rectified the issue with the outside bin. Unfortunately some people in the street were moving out, the piano was left behind, this has now been removed, it is not a usual occurrence in the street I can assure you. I am sorry you only felt you could award us 3 stars, as you can see the majority of our guests awarded us 5 stars. We do take any feedback very seriously, and we visit our property very regularly to check it meets the expected standards. Any future guests can be assured that comfort, cleanliness and service is what we like to pride ourselves on.

A lovely house in a central location.

We all enjoyed our holiday here. The house contained everything we needed.The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of room for your clothes.There was plenty of seating in the lounge and dining room and I appreciated having a washing line outside for the children clothes. We took our grandchildren with us so the extra number of shower rooms and toilets was ideal. The beach was a few minutes level walking away and so were the shops. There was a lovely Fish & Chip restaurant and takeaway at the far end of the road and an Indian Restaurant further along. Once we had managed to find a parking space, we didn't have to move the cars all week. When we visited Nothe Fort the fitter and younger members of the group walked but my husband and myself and younger children had a taxi which was very very reasonable. This was our second year at Ocean House and we'll be back.

The house is in a fabulous situation for a seaside holiday. It was very comfortable and well equipped. Parking was a bit if a challenge but we managed Ok. There were not always places very near the house .The stairs took a bit if getting used to (we had 3 children aged 3 and under!) But we managed fine and house had loads of character. Outside courtyard pleasant and great for drying washing! A super stay.

Town Centre Weymouth House - very nice

The house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Nicely decorated - new carpets upstairs and laminate flooring on the ground floor. Kitchen had plenty of crockery and utensils. The beds/bed linen was extremely comfortable - better than many hotels. The shower rooms were a little small, bur perfectly functional. There are flat screen TVs in every room and wifi worked well - keeping adults and kids happy. Parking, even with a guest permit - that was difficult; you might end up 10-15 minutes walk from the house - but bear in mind this is a busy seaside town centre. You are a few minutes walk from the seashore and have access to lots of nearby shops and pubs/restaurants. Oh and you must try the fish & chips at the end of the street; they were superb. Overall, a nice house in a town centre location, with plenty to do for both adults and tenagers.

Clean, spacious, well equipped and great central location!

We really enjoyed our stay at Ocean House. The location was brilliant, being so central to Weymouth town centre and the beach. The house itself was ideal for large parties and well-equipped for all our needs. The owners were quick to respond to any of our enquiries and we had a great time. We would thoroughly recommend this property.

Award winning Weymouth Sands are 80 yds from the house, Weymouth bay provides a safe beach for kids to enjoy, patrolled in the summer by lifeguards, with many of the following: Punch and Judy, paddle boarding, swimming, diving and pedalos.

The harbour a short walk away with the Quay has many restaurants and bars. Kids can go crabbing along the harbour. The famous Bridge spanning the river Wey, also on the harbour at the end of road, stops Weymouth traffic to allow the tall sailing boats out. This spectacle can be seen from the comfort of many restaurants or bars every 2 hours.

World heritage site - The Jurassic Coast, this spans nearly 100 miles and Weymouth is in the heart of it, with Chesil beach spectacular just a few miles away. Portland & Weymouth hosted the sailing event for the 2012 Olympics, do not miss Portland, has so much to offer with breathtaking views across the Jurassic Coast.

There's also the local bus service, which the Jurassic Coaster open top bus leaves opposite the Kings statue and travels along the coast to the following places: Portland, Dorchester, West Bay, Lyme Regis, Axminster, Durdle Dor, Lulworth Cove, Monkey world and the Tank museum, Wool and Wareham.

There's local shopping in the town and many Coffee shops locally. Many cafes and eateries within minutes from the house.

Nothe fort great for days out and the lovely walk along the Rodwell trail takes in breathtaking scenery along the coast towards Portland.

GREAT LOCATION....4 bedroom house, 5 bathrooms, right on the beach, harbour and town. Weymouth has everything on the doorstep. There's sailing, paddle boarding, swimming, diving, fishing trips and pedalos within minutes of the house. The location of Ocean House is just perfect for exploring the beautiful seaside town of Weymouth!
