We booked Three Oaks Retreat to celebrate our anniversary, but our experience was far from the “luxury cabin” advertised. The property is listed as a no-pet rental, yet I fleas on the couch along with pet hair in the cushions. Both my wife and I had bug bites during our stay. Bathrooms had pubic hair, the kitchen had crumbs, and the entire first floor had sticky floors. The coffee pot was left full of old coffee, and several drains were clogged with hair and debris—one required us to remove plumbing ourselves to make it usable.Much of the cabin felt run down: broken furniture, an unusable recreation room, a broken upstairs fire pit, peeling moldings, stained sheets, and unsafe railings on the deck. Landscaping was overgrown, blocking views, and the guest book appeared to have negative entries removed.To prepare for her parents arriving later, my wife spent hours cleaning the cabin to a livable standard—something no guest should have to do, especially on an anniversary trip. Management later told us the property had been treated for pests, which is good for future renters, but it did nothing to address what we endured. Their response showed little empathy, and no real remediation was offered. Asking guests to tip the cleaning staff after such a poor effort was insulting.For the premium price paid, this property did not deliver on its promises. We left disappointed and cannot recommend it.
