Great week at the beach

The house was great. Amazing location right on the beach. Pool with a beach view is really nice. Plenty of chairs, beach toys and gear. Outdoor shower next to the pool is convenient when coming off the beach. Close to shops and restaurants in both Mexico Beach and Port St Joe. Our kids loved it. We would stay here again.

Nice beach not crowded. Care was taken to decorate the unit. It was landscaped better than others. 3rd year in a row we visited the area and will be back next year.

10 family members and a dog all meet up here in mexico beach for a family vacation. , comfortable stay, beach is amazing, water was warm. pool was cool and refreshing. This is a great place to go if you are looking to chill on the beach, lots of food trucks with great food, DG down the street has everything you need. only complaint is ants around the pool where a pain. all restraunts closed on tuesday night if your not preperad.

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved the location. The house was nice. Our only problem was the trash was left all week long from the previous renters. It stunk and caused flies all around the pool. We called several times and were told it would be picked up. It never was. Unfortunately the trash sits next to the pool. Every time we went downstairs we had to deal with the flies and stench. When we left it was still sitting there.

We are so sorry that your trash was not handled. We hire people specifically to pull the trash to the road for you and then return them to the house after the trash truck has been by. Also, the cans are normally kept street-side of the house which prevents the problems at the pool that you faced. This is not what our guests should expect - ever!!!!

Great House

Overall we had a great stay and loved the house. It was perfect for our teenagers and adults as well as our fur babies. My only complaint is the lack of knowledge that the management company has regarding some of the ammenities of the property. For example, prior reviews mentioned to not use the $250 credit to rent corn hole or a paddle board. So I called and asked the management company if they could confirm what "toys" were at the house. All they said was whatever is on the listing is all they know. I called another time to see if they had a Keurig. I had the same answer. Needless to say we arrived and the house had cornhole, a paddle board and a Keurig. They also had a lot of other items you could use. Like beach chairs, boogie boards, and a bocce set. They even had some free weights you could use for exercising. Like I said this was our only complaint and can easily be fixed by updating the listing. Another thing that should be mentioned in the listing is the beautiful veterans park that is right across the street. This was a great place for us to walk our dogs and there is a nice playground for kids. So families that are coming you don't have to go far to let your kids burn some energy in the park. We loved Port St Joe and will be back to rent this house again.

Amazing beachfront house!

This was our first time to Port St. Joe and it was amazing! We loved the house and being able to walk right out to the beach was perfect. We enjoyed the much slower pace of the area as we usually go to Destin. Never again! We will be back to this place!

Lovely Family Vacation for 7+

Our stay At Cottage By The Sea was very nice. Our group included 7 adults and 1 infant. The bedroom situation was adequate...3 king bedrooms on the top floor, 1 bedroom with two twin bunk beds on main floor. Navigating the stairs 50 times daily was tiring (for those of us middle age LOL) & would be very difficult for someone handicapped or elderly. But we managed nicely. Would have liked to have had a few extra blankets in bedrooms. The weather was mostly terrible; lots of storms. I think we only had 2 good days of sun (out of 7). We found a couple of puzzles and one full deck of cards, which we put to good use. Would've been nice to have been able to sit outside & enjoy the rain storms but the balconies were too narrow to sit outside without getting drenched. The pool was a nice feature to have but too cold to use on the the first day because of the storms. We called the property manager immediately after arrival & they gave us instructions on turning on the pool heater. They added the prorated charge to our credit card. It was worth the extra charge! The kitchen was fully stocked. There is a Piggly Wiggly grocery store about 15 minutes away. We ate breakfast, lunch, & some dinners at home. A few dinner meals we ate out. Quatro Locos Tacos & Cantinos, as well as Dagwoods, both in Port St Joe, we're great. The Rib Crib toward Callaway was amazing. The home had several beach towels for use but only provided 1 bath towel per guest. One of the few negatives about the house... at one point, a large bug (possibly a roach) ran out from under the couch. That was the only time we saw a bug of any kind. The guy from the bug company came to spray 1 day afterwards but because we had two dogs inside the house at the time, the friend who was on our trip with us declined to have him spray. We appreciated being able to bring our 2 dogs w/ us. Once you book the property, you're given $250 towards renting beach gear. 250 will not get much so we rented an additional $300 worth of gear (a kayak which held 3 people, a paddle board, and a corn hole set).Plus we packed several floats, etc). The gear we had purchased was delivered before we arrived but I was very disappointed to see that the property already had a corn hold set, floats, and a paddle/surf board on site. That would've saved us several hundred dollars. The VRBO description did not include those items. Overall, our stay was great. I would definitely recommend this home!

Charming Rental House

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of 10 first stayed at Cottage By the Sea in July of 2019 and absolutely loved it. The towns of Port St. Joe and Mexico Beach were trying to recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, and therefore we were happy to be there to support their efforts. The house was perfect for our needs. The pool was small, but our grandkids loved it. We decided to book the house again for the summer of 2020, but COVID changed those plans for that summer, but we did get to come back in July of 2021. Once again, we weren’t disappointed. We loved the addition of the bar area down by the pool the new owners had added. We thought we would plan on booking the house again for next summer but when we got online to do so, found that the weekly rent would be increased by about $5000! I’m sorry, but such a drastic increase in just one year is insane, so even though we loved it, we will be looking elsewhere.

Being right on the beach, it was easy to go out whenever the sun did come out. The location and the property were outstanding. We really enjoyed the bar area including a small refrigerator and seating area around the pool. The two balconies were the perfect place to relax and enjoy the site and sounds of the beach. The house was beautifully decorated and was well equipped. The master shower could use a little extra cleaning and a water spigot outside of the gate coming back from the beach would prevent a lot of sand being brought into the pool area. Wish we were still there right now. Would love to return to this property.

We were at this wonderful property during the threat of Elisa hurricane-it missed Mexico Beach. We had rain and ocean wasn’t pretty, but the Seclusion of Cottage by the sea made up for the off and on rain. We had 5 adults & 4 preteens and everyone was more than comfortable. The property had everything we needed. Great place

Wonderful getaway

We loved staying here for our annual family beach trip! The property is gorgeous and well maintained. Our kids LOVED the bunk room. The adults favorite spot was on the bottom floor hanging out around the bar and pool. Such a unique and fun space! Only thing we would change is the busy highway right by the driveway. Of course, this is out of the owners control so we still gave all 5 stars

We called Cape and Coast and it was taken care of within a few hours ( rocket fast service ) ! (The Market on 5th Street was a great resource for anything we needed.)

Beautiful stay in Mexico Beach

We absolutely loved this house! Perfect getaway for families. Calm waters and easy access to the beach. Just walk right out your back door! Pool and outside shower help keep sand out of the house. Beautifully decorated interior with stunning deck views of the evening sunset. Quick drive to local grocery stores, restaurants and bars.

BEST vacation home we have stayed in.

Love the Mexico Beach area. The house was the perfect place to stay. Right on the beach PLUS it has it’s own private pool. House was really clean and kitchen well stocked. Beds were comfortable and outdoor porches were so nice to just sit and enjoy being at the beach. We will definitely return next year to the wonderful beach vacation home !!!!

Perfect Beach Getaway

Vacation with my husband and my sister. The house was exactly as advertised. Beds were comfortable. A/C worked incredibly well. Kitchen had everything we needed. Plenty of bath towels. The pool at the end of the day was awesome. All in all, a wonderful vacation. We missed visiting Port St. Joe / Mexico Beach last year because of the hurricane the year before. I was very glad to get back to this quiet oasis.

Family Vacation

The property was nice. There was a problem with the sub-floor at the back door on the main level. The sub-floor seems to have rotted and you will sink about six inches of step on the area. I sent an email reporting the problem. The property is nice Its beachfront with plenty of room. The area is nice and not crowded. Will stay in Port St Joe again.

Upon arrival, the house was well-stocked and very clean. After a long drive, we couldn’t have asked for more. The beach is beautiful and proximity is one of the closest we have experienced. We hope to come back again!!
