OMG! We absolutely loved this house. Each one of us had our own bedrooms, there were two kitchens and bathrooms which worked great for four women. Walking distance to the water, human sized chess board that was fun to play, goats and bunnies eating grass in the yard, we even saw deer. I would definitely stay here again and the history of the house is great to learn about as well.
Loved the location & the kids loved the farm animals. House is sweet old farmhouse but needs better amenities such as dishes & working internet. Tv in living room doesnât work except for movies (rusty old remote). House is setup to sleep 8 but only has dishes for 2 & only half the house gets cooled by the a/c. Internet very inconvenient as I was assured I would be able to work while there but never did have a connection. The house itself was pretty & the few dishes had to be washed before use. Would be a great relaxing getaway if you didnât have to spend the first day of vacation cleaning. Would be a great remote working location if they could get their internet accessible. Kids loved itâŠ.
We took our granddaughters, they had a wonderful time. Exploring the grounds and the animals. The bunnies were there favorite. Big Rocks very close by . The town of Glen Rose right at your back door. The Prairie House is where we stayed. Clean and tidy. Everything for a great stay. Will certainly visit in the near future.
We stayed here with our newborn and toddler. The toddler LOVED the animals on the property and getting to pet them. She had a blast. The location is great, it is very central to all of the tourist sites in the area. We will definitely be returning.
The Prairie House is beautifully decorated, and perfectly situated a short walk from the breakfast barn (free breakfast on weekends!), toddler playground, and petting zoo. The property manager, Wendy, was fantastic and helpful with any and all questions or needs we had. We will definitely be returning guests!
We very much enjoyed our stay overall. The decor is enchanting and makes you feel like a pioneer - albeit a pioneer enjoying the comforts of plush bedding and a choice of seating in the living room! The grounds are as described. You are free to visit with the animals or go down to the river walk at the back of the property. Courthouse square is cute also.
The only caveat is that the wall separating the N and S part of the house are thin, so maybe not ideal if you are a very light sleeper.
I am hoping to return when my grandson is old enough to enjoy the barnyard animals and the proximity to Dinosaur Valley State Park and Fossil Rim Animal Park (each a few miles away only). Ideally, we would rent both N and S parts of the house, sharing with the adult kids and the little ones. As I imagine it now, this would be my ideal vacation spot.
We stayed in the Prairie House North. It was clean, quaint and fun to stay in. It had all the convienences of home. You can choose to relax on the front porch, visit the animals, walk the grounds or fish in the river .We truely enjoyed our stay. Wendy answered any questions we had .An excellent host .I am sure we will be back.
I took my twin 11 year old grandchildren (1boy/1 girl). They had been restricted in activities since March and they absolutely LOVED the animals and the playground, making sâmores and the freedom to run around. We spent a LOT of time at the Big Rocks. The hair dryer does not work.
