Family friendly home with plenty for every age to enjoy! The renovated 90 year-old Historic home on almost 2/3 of an acre has the Paluxy river right in the backyard complete with a huge deck, massive private concrete dock, kids playground and tree swing. Location is AMAZING, on Barnard St., so you're just a couple minute walk from historic downtown, antique shops, famous Big Rock Park, Oakdale Park (swimming pool/playground), and a 5-6 mile drive to Dinosaur Valley State Park and Fossil Rim!
Our family of 6 stayed at this cabin 4 nights. It is right on the water, even closer than the pictures can show. I loved having my coffee and watching the geese swim by from the kitchen table. Our kids loved the tree swing and fort in the beautiful backyard. The house is right on a busy road, a block or two from Big Rocks, which had a lot of traffic. We walked to big rocks to swim. The house was very clean and had every amenity for us to use. The history of the house spurred us to go on a scavenger hunt for more homes built with petrified wood. Communication was easy and quick with our hosts.
Absolutely perfect setup and location. We stayed here as an overflow to our large family Christmas get together at parents house a few miles away. Exceeded expectations !!
This was the perfect Texas river house vacation for our family. The accommodations were cool, clean, and comfortable. The kids loved the tree house and floating down to Big Rocks park to swim and play in the water. There were many activities in the area to keep everyone busy, but the main event was time spent in the river! We will definitely return to this historic and charming home on the river.
I cannot say enough about this property. Our family of 12 loved it. The backyard area and deck are amazing!!! My kids stayed in the water most of the time. And we just floated to Big Rocks Park just a 1/4 mile down the river. We hope to visit again.
We came to Glen Rose for a quick weekend getaway with one other family. The location of the home and the amenities did not disappoint. The house was even better than it looked on the listing and the check out process was nice and simple. Highly recommend! Our kids were so sad to leave.
We had a group of 11 for a wedding in town. There was plenty of room for everyone. The owner provided plenty of necessities and more! The location was so close to the town square. The property is beautiful. I would definitely recommend.
Some of the girls were not happy with the sheetings and the blankets. They were not fresh and clean. Could not find the thermostat Not all bathrooms had bath rugs outside of showers. Mold around one bathroom on shower. It was a beautiful location. Lights hanging on the porch was not working. We all had a wonderful and blessed time. My option is you cannot sleep 14 maybe 10. Susan
Took my family. Adults and kids. Found this property to be just perfect. Loved the old house CHARM. The back yard and river provided hours of FUN for my grandkids. Would definitely go back.
We loved our stay at this property. It was clean, cozy and such a fun place to spend time with family. The rain made it hard to do much outdoor activities but the kids loved the tree house and swing!
Stayed the weekend with friends for a golf getaway and this was the perfect setup. Great scenic backyard for hanging out and playing cornhole. The layout of the house was perfect for us and slept 8 guys easily.
Nothing can beat a sunset and sunrise from a river off the deck of your own backyard. From the quaint, perfectly decorated 100 year old home to the famous petrified wood exterior, this home is a perfect stay. The kids have a treehouse, games, movies and coloring pages. The adults have stone patios and a fire pit to sit by the river. Loved it.
This was an amazing property for our family of 5! We had plenty of room inside and out. The hosts have done an amazing job of making sure there is a variety of activities! The closet of toys was a surprise bonus for my 3yr old. Hosts were responsive during our stay. Such a memorable Spring Break!
The house and property are great. Lots of room inside and out. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate so we did not get to do any outside activities. Would go back when it's warmer.
We stayed here as a family for my husbandâs significant birthday, ending in zero. He was raised in Glen Rose, and remembers this house because of its location and the petrified wood. It was the perfect place. The house was perfect and the river and the fire pit made our stay. Will stay again.
We had an amazing time, and the house was perfect for our family! The river literally runs through the back yard with stair access. My son, grandsons and granddaughter loved swimming and playing in the river and the adults were able to see them and supervise from the comfort of the outdoor patio/deck. The home was very comfortable and the host was wonderful during each of our interactions. They even had a welcome gift at the house of sâmores supplies and bottled water.
Great home and great host!
Would highly recommend!
Roomy, convenient, clean. The river was just a few steps from the house, and the yard was spacious. I took teenagers, but this is a great place for smaller children as well. The back and side yards are shady. I would definitely recommend this house for any age group or combination of ages.
