A wonderful stay at a fantastic property that immerses you in the middle of picturesque Beynac-et-Cazenac. Vincent was an excellent host - well organized information sent to us in advance and updated nearer our stay. Andrea and Martine who took care of us during our stay were a real pleasure to interact with and so friendly and helpful. The views are amazing, the balcony is great to relax on. Loved the decor and the kitchen is very well equipped. The wood burning stove was much appreciated on a couple of cool evenings. Such a great visit - we need to return when a little warmer to enjoy the pool. Thanks Vincent, Andrea and Martine!!

Our stay at Mount Joie was absolutely wonderful! The villa's location in the Dordogne Valley is superb—just minutes from must-see tourist sites. Vincent, the owner, provided detailed instructions and thoughtful recommendations for restaurants and local markets, making our visit effortless and memorable. This villa offered the French Provincial experience we, as two city-dwelling Americans, were seeking. While Beynac may look enchanting online, in person it truly feels like a fairytale village. I highly recommend a visit—just remember to pack comfortable sneakers, as the hilly streets make heels impractical!

This is an amazing property; the view is simply magical! We spent every morning on the terrace for breakfast watching the canoeists on the Dordogne and enjoying the view of the chateaux. The pool was a godsend in the heat. Martine was extremely kind and helped us settle in. I scrubbed up on my GCSE French and we got by brilliantly. Beynac is a beautiful village, in an area full of beautiful villages and towns. A must do experience!

Mont Joie was an AMAZING experience for our family of 5. The villa is larger than it looks in pictures, and the views of the Dordogne and area chateaux are just as spectacular as you'd hope. The top two floors (living room/ kitchen, and upper bedroom) are well air-conditioned, which was a life-saver; 4 days of our stay were over 38C/100F, but the house stays much cooler. The pool was priceless, and stayed surprisingly cool and refreshing the whole time. We had a big car and didn't attempt the villa's parking space, but the nearest lot is less than a 5 minute walk away. Beynac itself is a fascinating little town, with its own rhythms and quirks that you start to learn during your stay, and Chateau Beynac is a stunning castle no one should miss when in the region. Finally, the owners' agents were so helpful and welcoming - they made our time in Beynac that much richer.

The property manager is amazing! The house is gorgeous with stunning views from every window. The kitchen has everything you could possibly want and then some. The beds and the lounge furniture are extremely comfortable. More like staying in someone’s well appointed home than a rental accommodation!

We loved our stay in Mont Joie. Beynac is a great place to access all the villages in the area. However, if staying with friends, accessing the pool or outdoor terrace is through their bedroom as is the back door which is not always convenient if they are sleeping or changing. Certainly, the back door is the most convenient and less steep way to the shops and village. Our stay was most comfortable.

The house is absolutely stunning full of antiques in keeping with the medieval era. The view through the window over the river was magnificent. All the beds had comfortable mattresses and pillows, and it was very dark and quiet and we slept well. The size of the house was perfect for our family of five. The kitchen had very good for facilities for cooking. You do need to be quite fit to stay at Mont Joie as it is at the top of the hill that you need to walk up and within the house itself, there are two long flights of stairs.

Location, location, location!

It was a wonderful experience from check-in to check-out. It is simply the best location in Beynac with lovely views and the home is comfortable and well equipped. Imagine the comforts of home combined with the charm of a 15th century building! Beynac is the ideal spot to use as a home base to see the Dordogne, and Mont Joie is the place to stay.

New Favorite Destination

The property exceeded our expectations. From the charm of the home, its beautiful views from the balcony, and the personal touches like the welcome basket and bottle of wine. While our French was lacking, Martine was very accommodating, friendly, and so helpful. Great restaurants and shoppes nearby. We left Beynac with hopes of returning someday, such a wonderful experience.

Stay at Beynac in Dordogne area

The house was tastefully decorated and well equipped. Located in the village while very private, with a pool and beautiful views of the river. The street is extremely charmy with the roads and houses in the same stone, looking as a picture from a very french village movie. There are a few shops walking distance with everything you need as well as restaurants and coffee/ice cream/sandwiches shops. It is a great location to visit the region. An absolute jewel.

Fabulous stay

Amazing house with incredible views. We felt so welcomed and Martine who managed our stay was wonderful and very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here with our friends and walked up to the chateau, which was quite a steep climb but well worth it. A must is a meal at the restaurant called Le Petitie Tonnelle - and Andrea was the perfect hostess. We loved the food and the atmosphere so much we ate here twice! Beautiful surroundings and I would recommend this amazing medieval house. Very clean and it has everything you would possible need.

Magnificent!

I was expecting a great house based on all of the other reviews, but even they did not do it justice. What a superb home, with a billion euro view! A true 500 year old house with 21st century comforts. Thank you Vincent for sharing Mont Joie. And thank you Martine for all you do. We are sure to return to this wonderful area and house!

There is no question that the outstanding aspect of the property is the view from the balcony-truly exceptional. We believe that the description of the property should indicate that it is spread over 5 levels and that the path to the "apex"/door is very steep after the first 60mtrs and very demanding for those with heavy luggage and shopping.

Dordogne adventure genial (awesome adventure)!

There are not enough words to describe this lovely part of France. We have been to France many times but this area is amazing. Mont Joie exceeded all expectations. A beautiful property set above the Dordogne where we were provided all amenities and more. We were able to relax and enjoy our time together. Martine is a joy, she helped us in so many ways! A beautiful home overlooking the Dordogne

We spent two wonderful weeks in May/June 2024 at Mont Joie. The home is charming with wonderful views directly over the river and up to several nearby castles. The location is fantastic, near many wonderful gardens, caves, markets, and restaurants. Beynac is a beautiful village. Vincent and his family (owners) and Martine (local representative) all were extremely helpful and welcoming and responded quickly to our questions/requests. The house, including kitchen and laundry, were very well equipped, and the welcome basket a lovely and very useful extra. We hope to come again.

A charming village and very special property

We (two couples) absolutely loved our time at Mont Joie. The house is well set up and Martine and Andrea were very helpful. The supplied guide was an excellent source of info. Beynac is a great base to explore the Dordogne. We enjoyed visiting Château de Baynac, Gouffre de Padirac, Lascaux and Rocamadour. We spent 4 nights at Mount Joie and would have loved to spend even more time in the Dordogne, enjoying Mont Joie and Beynac. A highlight was having our apéritif on the balcony, taking in the beautiful Autumn view, each afternoon. Beynac and Mont Joie are very special, thank you for a wonderful stay.

Excellent two weeks Stay

My families third visit to Beynac et Cazenac and first visit to Vincent's home. The home is just as pictured. Great dining room with incredible views, plus lower patio with chairs/table for 4 and bbq and two loungers, plus lower/lower level with outdoor space. Super fun home and so much love was put into it. Vincent is extremely responsive and Marine will meet you to show you the home and get you settled. We truly enjoyed the home and having Martine available if needed was an added benefit. I would highly recommend this home to anyone that does not have issues with climbing stairs. Excellent all around.

A mountain of joy!

We had a fantastic time at Mont Joie! The view from the living room is spectacular, and the village is beautiful. We found the kitchen well stocked and easy to use. The bedrooms were perfect, and drinking wine on the balcony as we watched the sunset was a delight. Martine is a treasure! She was kind and helpful and full of good humor. Mont Joie is a perfect base from which to explore enjoy the Perigord. A big thank you to Vincent! We especially appreciated your detailed instructions about arrival, parking, local shops, and a user's guide to the house itself. Your suggestions about markets, restaurants, and excursions were all excellent. We recommend staying at Mont Joie enthusiastically and unreservedly! Stay for at least a week!

Perfect Mix of Medieval & Modern - Whole Family Enjoyed

Mont Joie is a special experience. Of course, the views are amazing from all three levels. Really, nothing compares to throwing open the windows of the dining room and watching the boats float by with castles and countryside stretching in all directions. The whole house beautifully combines the medieval feel of Beynac with modern amenities like an excellently stocked kitchen and awesome shower in the main bedroom. Of course, the kids loved the pool. It’s just big enough to cool off & have fun. We found the daily hike up & down the hill helped balance all the treats from the neighborhood boulangerie. We were well-prepared by the host’s guide provided in advance -- one of the most thorough I’ve ever seen and incredibly helpful. The communication with owner & onsite hosts was excellent throughout. Martine was a cheerful, helpful welcome after 17+ hours of travel and she set us up with dinner at La Petite Tonelle right down the hill. It was amazing! The meat dishes were exceptional and I could have eaten the vegetarian menu every day. We had good experiences at all the town restaurants & cute shops. We loved meandering the picturesque paths in the morning or dusk while also being close to other area sites & convenient to Sarlat for Sunday groceries when needed.

An Unforgettable Stay in the French Countryside

We have traveled all over the world, and this villa in the French countryside nestled on a mountainside village over the Dordogne River is truly one of the most incredible stays we’ve ever experienced! The stunning views of the rolling hills and picturesque landscapes were nothing short of breathtaking. Waking up to hot air balloons floating by in the early morning was a real spectacle, adding magic to every day. The villa itself is a perfect blend of ancient charm and modern comfort. Its spacious rooms and beautiful décor instantly made us feel at home. Old world with updated amenities to the mediaeval charm, enhanced the experience while maintaining the villa’s historic character. Nestled on the mountainside just below the rebuilt Château de Beynac, this location offers stunning vistas, but be prepared for a hike up and down the charming cobblestone streets—good walking or hiking shoes with good traction are a must! The private pool was a real treat, offering us a peaceful retreat to cool off and relax in the warm afternoons. And for those who love a bit of adventure, we even took up the challenge of driving up the very narrow street to park in the dedicated spot across from the villa. Not for the faint of heart, but absolutely worth it! This was a truly unforgettable experience, and we are already dreaming of our next visit- thank you Vincent for all your help! We highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a magical escape in the heart of France.
