Great Vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very roomy and lots of fun for the whole family. It was well stocked and the fishing from the dock and on boat trips was fantastic. The grandkids caught lots of fish even the 3 year old. No/sparse internet gave ALL of us a much needed break from our devices. Hopefully you’ll go back to supplying bath towels. Will definitely come back!!

Relaxing vacation

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very relaxing vacation with beautiful lake views. Only complaints are the Dish network wasn't working all week, which wouldnt have been a huge deal but we had a couple of all day rains and the master bedrooms matress could be updated. Other then that, caught a lot of fish and the house is peaceful, quiet and in a great location!

Not worth it at all

Hello, I wanted to bring few things to your attention that made this house rental extremely unpleasant for us. 1st I would start with that there was no directions to get to the house, entrance that the Gps took us driveway was closed and not plowed. We spent next hour and half walking around trying to find a way to get to the house. After we found it the driveway was only plowed enough for a midsize car to get through, we were In a dully pickup truck with a snowmobile trailer, and the sharp right turn to get down your driveway was not possible to make, snow was not plowed and we ended up damaging our pickup and trailer trying to make the turn to get down the drive because there was no way to turn around or back out. Once we finally got unstuck and made it down the driveway, there was about a foot of snow high and 5-6 feet long between front of the house and house entrance that we had to clean ourself just to make it inside of the house. Once inside the house there were numerous flys in the kitchen area, cobwebs and dust , no WIFI, Cable TV was not working and we had zero phone service to call for any help with anything. One of the bathrooms has MOLD in the shower Ceiling which was just simply unbelievable. And when I mentioned the bathrooms there was only one towel between 2 bathrooms. I could keep on going with other issues but I am sure that this will paint a picture of hell of a weekend we had at your property. We rented other house numerous times and this is by far the worst experience we ever had. We paid premium price to ensure we enjoy this New Years weekend getaway and in return it was ruined and we got a complete nightmare experience. Try to contact host and let them know about all this issues that I had but they didn’t respond back.

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Unbelievably bad!Nothing as described, no air conditioning, no furnace, 9 inch tall dead weeds on the beach that smelled lights in the living room. Chairs had to be washed prior to sitting on them. Spiders were everywhere. Nine bags of garbage from the previous renter across the driveway.Hiller refuses to take my calls.They told me they had 30 to 40 complaints and I was on the list.

A Great Off the Grid Retreat

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My wife and another couple had a great weekend stay here at Kentuck Lake Retreat. The cabin is a spacious yet cozy 3 bed 2 bath. We went in winter. It was very fun to read, cook, and ice fish. We really enjoyed it.The property managers were excellent. They were communicative and responsive. Some minor constructive criticism on what was a very enjoyable stay so that future customers can be even more satisfied than us:1. There wasn't a can opener. One of our meal plans was derailed because of it. We could've ran into town to get one, but we had other food. 2. The master bed mattress should be replaced. It's a cheap (and likely very old) spring bed mattress and you can feel the large individual springs.3. This is extremely minor, but DirectTV was shut-off. This could've been resolved with a quick phone call by us to the property managers, but we didn't really need the TV. Just a point of note.I would absolutely stay here again! I hope to be back in the summer.

Nice house - but dated. The overall cleanliness of the house was very disappointing. We had a BAD mouse problem (but it is the Northwoods! - so tried to understand.). We did call the management company when we arrived and found a live mouse running around the family room that had one leg caught in the trap. Mouse droppings ALL OVER THE HOUSE. Every bed had mouse droppings on the sheets. Counter top had mouse droppings everywhere. Every kitchen drawer had mouse droppings inside of them. It was everywhere... We did call the management company & they sent someone out to change the bed sheets and they also sent pest control who set mouse traps. We went to the hardware store and bought 8 additional mouse traps. We caught SEVERAL mice throughout the week. In addition to the mice, the cleanliness of the house was just not clean... Looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. Windows had smears and fingerprints (from the inside) that were not cleaned. Tons of dead flies, moths, etc. that were not vacuumed up. Just not a very "clean" feeling to the house. House advertises having wi-fi, but there is NO wi-fi at the house. It was a bunch of guys using the house to fish for the week, so we were OK with it. If there were women involved, I'm guessing we would have wound up at a hotel...

Great location right on the water!

Cabin was great and location was excellent! Right on the water and a great view of the lake. Only issue was coming in the driveway and getting turned around with the boat. Long driveway and no place to turn around.

Charming Cabin, Beautiful Scenery & Lots of Space

There are beautiful hiking trails nearby, and even walking the neighborhood is gorgeous. The property has lake access and a porch.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was in average condition. Old furniture adequate kitchen equipment. The setting was beautiful with lots of wildlife. Eagles, loones, ducks and fish. Upon entering the lake from the house there was lots of algae which made it hard for the younger kids to go into the lake. The stars at night were amazing. Large garage to store things. Older boat that was left on the boat lift presented a hazard to younger children. Under the beds it was quite dirty. Great walking trails.

Beautiful well-built home. Paying this much for a rental fee for 9 nights I expected more...

We booked this home for a family snowmobile trip, upon arriving the driveway was blocked off with a sign that directs you to a service entrance down the road. While this may have been fine for an SUV this wasn’t a very good option for a full-sized truck pulling a 4-place snowmobile trailer. The lane was very narrow, not well plowed with low hanging trees, we managed to get through but damaged our trailer. Once we made it to the house, we had to figure out how to turn around, this was not an easy task. My husband and I did manage to unload the sleds and unhook the trailer and manually turn it around. Entry into the house was a breeze with the key pad and code, the house was clean and ready for renters. We looked for towels, there were none to be found, I checked HomeAway and it states, “linens provided” and the bathroom photos show towels on the racks, counters …in all my rentals this has always included towels. I called the property manager and asked about the towels as well as the driveway. I was told that the home only includes kitchen towels and we needed to provide our own bath towels. They offered to come out the next day and bring a couple of towels, remove the garbage from the previous renter, and plow the drive-way and try to open the closed main driveway. They showed up the following day to open the main drive, widen the driveway for additional vehicles and to help with maneuvering of trailers, sleds; this was very much appreciated. I did ask the property manager about the Wi-Fi as I was not able to find a network and she said it must not have Wi-Fi, she did offer to come back after her meeting and bring a hot spot since the HomeAway listing said the home was equipped with Wi-Fi. She never returned and I didn’t hear back from her. You get little to no cell phone reception at this home, we had phones for both AT & T & Verizon. They have a home phone which was helpful when we lost power and had to report the outage. The furnishings are very old and outdated, bed frames only with old mattresses, linens and were quite uncomfortable. We did also have a problem with mice in the kitchen so plan to keep all food in storage containers as they were very active. As I mentioned before, this is a very beautiful and well-built home, we loved the gorgeous lake views from the massive windows, the gas fireplace, heated floors in both bathrooms, a well-stocked kitchen, and having a washer & dryer. It is a very cozy space for watching the snow fall.

Relaxing vacation getaway!

My family enjoyed every aspect of our stay at this Kentuck Lake home. This is a beautiful and serene property! Felt like home! This home was clean and as described in the listing. Thank you for allowing us to stay and we will definitely be back!
