This charming and romantic location was the perfect escapeâa peaceful retreat to unwind and recharge from our hectic schedules and work demands. Highly recommend and look forward to a return trip soon!
We were looking for a quiet weekend getaway while attending an event in this area. This cabin and waterfall location was a much needed retreat! The host was prompt with details and answering any questions we had prior to arriving. This truly is a special place, and being able to fully unplug from everything next to this beautiful waterfall is a healing experience. Best sleep Iâve had in ages!!!
The setting is beautiful, secluded woods on a stream an incredible waterfall right off your deck that you can view from every room in the cabin! The decor is charming and everything you could need is provided.
Looking forward to returning.

Lovely cabin nestled in the woods with the best view in Virginia! We so much enjoyed unplugging from NoVa busy-ness and sitting on the deck watching the waterfall. This is a getaway treasure!
The falls are so beautiful and soothing and the house so delightfully creative and charming we felt like we were in our own personal paradise for a few days. This wasnât our first visit and wonât be our last. The host communicated with us extremely well, and we were overwhelmed with peace and joy during our time away from it all. The falls really do feel very healing.
Fabulous, beyond our expectations. The waterfall is just as pictured, if not better. We had a lot of rain one day, and the water volume increased very much. WOW! It happened twice that one day. The view of the waterfall from the bed is a very nice extra.
This cabin was so much more then we expected. The sense of peace and togetherness brought us back to a calm place. We didnât miss the technology at all! In fact we didnât want to leave.
I highly recommend this peaceful home overlooking a beautiful waterfall that you hear morning and night.
We loved waking up and seeing the waterfall.
The Japanese soaking tub offered a tranquil view of the waterfall during the day, sounds if the waterfall and candlelight at night.
No wifi, no cell phones ⊠an incredible respite from fast paced life.
One of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. Truly. This one of a kind experience will induce you to unplug and recharge your soul. That waterfall is a unique thing of beauty and the fall airâs crispness only makes the stars all the warmer.
Thanks you so much for sharing such a delightful spot on earth.
Definitely will stay again.

Our stay at the falls was so needed. I kidnapped my husband and although he was skeptical about the location, and the place, he changed his mind really quickly. The mode of the inside of the home resembled nothing but peace and tranquility. Every little detail was perfectly placed. We loved the sounds of the falls with each game or puzzle we worked together. We canât wait to return! We added to the library and puzzle collection. Such a blessing to find and be able to stay!
This is a total zen experience. The house is beautiful inside and so well stocked. Caroline has thought of every small detail from the kitchen to the bathroom all the way to the well stocked medicine chest. Just bring your clothes and food. Turn off the world and turn on the recovery!
My wife and I live in the country on a purty piece of land, but this spot is something special. The sounds and the grounds are lush but they are rivaled by the deep soak tube hanging over you private waterfall in the back yard.
We will be calling on our wonderful host, Caroline, again!
We had such an amazing stay at this waterfall oasis. We had plans to hike and explore Grayson Highlands, and it ended up being quite difficult to want to leave! We couldâve easily enjoyed several more nights here, and look forward to returning. Thank you so much for thinking of everything under the sun. The house was equipped with everything we needed and more. We are so glad we were able to experience a stay and celebrate our anniversary at this wondrous spot. Itâs a memory we deeply cherish. Thank you again!
My husband and I had a wonderful, rejuvenating time at Healing Waters. The space is gorgeous and comforting. Iâm glad we followed the recommendation to bring in food with us because we were so happy to snuggle in and enjoy a quiet dinner with the amazing waterfalls as our backdrop. My husband enjoyed making a fire in the potbelly woodstove and popcorn in the old-timey Whirlypop while I enjoyed the soaking tub and view. There is everything you need to enjoy coffee and tea in the morning (just bring your milk). We enjoyed just walking down the road with mountain views and getting to Grayson Highlands State Park was a beautiful 50 min drive for hiking. We hope to visit again!
âI went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately,ââ Thoreau wrote. Allow this magnificent house and setting to ably serve as your Walden Pond, even if only for a couple of days. If youâre simply trying to stay alive in the workaday world, come here and simplyâŠlive. Youâll have the sight and sound of a waterfall off the deck, the colors of the forest, and a dwelling that meshes perfectly with the peaceful setting, while providing plenty of material amenities. Yes, everything you see in the photos is real, although when you awaken from your afternoon nap on the deck, you may feel that youâre still in a dream.
Short stay this time, but we made the most of it. This property is an absolute gem. You can relax in a comfy chair staring at the elegance of the falls with a glass of wine and some music playing, or soak for hours in the tub. Outside, the waterfall and stream are an exciting habitat for various wildlife. We spotted two different types of newts!
The space is so inviting, and you can really see the care that's gone into making it so remarkable.
Everything is magical. Turn off your phone, unpack your things, and let the natural, wild beauty of this place erase your troubles.
We'll certainly be back for a longer stay in the future!
This place is amazing. Beautifully crafted building that seems to have been built around the bathtub and views of the waterfall. Exposed reclaimed timbers and lots of windows. It felt like we were at our own private sauna and meditation center. We parked at the top of the hill by the gate and walked down. We didn't trust our minivan to make it back up the steep hill. We actually had just enough cell coverage to send a text (Verizon). Our only regret was not being able to figure out the landline phone number so we could say goodnight to our kiddos. Highly recommend this place if you are looking to unplug and love nature.
While the pictures are spot on, get ready for a unique experience!
Looking for a quiet retreat, I ran across this place and was intrigued by the description and pictures showing thoughtful accommodations, solitude, and serenity. Yes, donât plan on cell service or TV (a landline is available if needed), but do look forward to watching a waterfall from bed and hearing the water rush by in the star filled darkness of night while being warmed by a fire. One afternoon during our time there, we rested our feet in the water and found spots on rocks to watch the water flow. The place is well appointed and the kitchen is well equipped. My wife loved the bathroomâs tub. It was perfect for a get-a-way! If you need to stretch your legs, we were able to see old time bluegrass music and eat food in Galax as well as make an easy drive over to Grayson Highlands where there are some wonderful hiking options. Caroline is a thorough host!
I am artist, adventurer, and NC native who has lived in all four corner of the US. I lived in Manhattan in my late teen years, and then moved to Phoenix to spend the next 3 years of my life wintering in the Southwest and summering on the Columbia River Gorge in Hood River Oregon in the Pacific Northwest. I have sailed the Atlantic in a 26 ft sailboat, taught English to Chinese high school English teachers in mainland China. I have travelled in Spain, Italy, and Hungary and now reside in Garner NC with my husband and 2 children ages 11 and 13. I am currently a worker bee in the Stone Supply industry after being out of the business for over 15 years. My passions include getting people of all ages back to the woods and away from electronics. It is such a disease that we can not disconnect from electronics and reconnect with nature. This disconnect without distractions is what grounds us and points us to self discovery. When we are fully aware we are better people to not only ourselves but to those around us. In my personal life shutting out distractions and focusing on the Divine is where I truly grow. I am currently giving thanks for all things both good and bad in my life and learning where the lesson was to be found. It is my pleasure to be able to open my house to you. Come and experience what words can not describe. I look forward to sharing my special space with you.
My husband and I own property in Ashe County NC. We love the area as we have been taking our 2 children to Grayson Highlands State Park in VA camping since they were 2 years old. After my father passed suddenly from complications of T-Cell Lymphoma I felt the call to purchase more land in the area. My goal was to have a place to get children of all ages away from electronics and back to nature. Having lost out on 2 large land purchases due to reasons beyond my control I was forced to look outside of Ashe County as it was not offering me anything new. The first day of searching and a couple of clicks landed me on 5220 Peach Bottom in Independence VA. I live in Raleigh NC and at 9:30 AM the following day I called out from work and was entering the property. I made an offer 2 hours later and the rest is history. It was truly meant to be mine. Both my father and the previous owner died of cancer a few months apart. Both of them were very special people who were born the same year 1947. The prior owner was a writer and playwright while my father was a voracious reader. You will definitely feel the peace and inspiration flow into you as you settle into a chair on the deck.
I fell in love with the property the minute I saw it for sale. The rustic nature of it's setting, the attention to detail in it's artistry. It lends itself perfectly into it's surroundings taking care to not overpower the landscape. From the moment I drove up to the cattle gate and saw the jack fence and lush green surroundings I felt as though I was entering a beautiful state park. As I crossed the stone bridge to get to the front porch I admired how perfectly everything was placed in relationship to the waterfall. I knew the property was for me the minute I saw the hammered bronze oversized door knob. Sometimes pictures on line can make a mediocre place look good. Sometimes they can hint to a super amazing place without giving away it's essence. The sound of the falls and the structure together unite in such a way that EVERYONE who goes there will feel as though they have been a part of something special. I know that the minute I leave my heart is calling me back to the sound of the Falls.
