Emergencies Don’t Matter
I was really looking forward to staying at this property. Unfortunately, the day before our trip, my husband was in a terrible head-on collision. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital. I tried contacting the property owner several times through the VRBO app in spite of everything we had going on, but I never got a response. I was past the date that I could receive a refund under normal circumstances, but this was anything but a normal circumstance. My best friend and I have spent the past several days in the hospital with my husband and while I am grateful for his recovery, I am disappointed that even in emergencies I have not been able to reach the property owner. I spoke with a representative from the rental company who said that he would try to convince the property owner to give me a partial refund, but I still have yet to hear anything from the owner themselves. I’m very disappointed with this kind of treatment. I’m not sure why under certain circumstances the refund policy should not be revisited. However, what is more concerning is that my vacation has come and gone and still no response from the property owner. I’m not leaving this review as a reflection on the condition of the property but instead to bring awareness that this is not the way to treat customers especially in very difficult situations.
