Beautiful, well equipped and spacious apartment with awesome views of the Natrun ski slopes
What an awesome place to stay!
We were fortunate enough to book this apartment for the half term week in Feb (16 - 23 Feb 19). Our party consisted of my 2 teenage sons and my father (and me)!
The apartment is very nice and modern with a truly Austrian feel. Plenty of space for us all with 3 nicely sized rooms (my boys shared the large bunk beds). The kitchen is well equipped and the living room is huge!
There is a good sized dining table and a huge sofa, with plenty of space to relax after a days skiing. Great wi-fi connection and selection of channels and DVDs to enjoy.
Plenty of linens, along with a washing machine, meant we could save space on packing (Ski kit is quite bulky so this was really helpful)
Locally there is a good selection of bars and restaurants, along with a supermarket which had everything we needed (its worth mentioning there is a bigger town about 10 mins down the road)
The skiing was excellent, 10 mins walk to the slopes (if you walk slowly), lift passes were cheap and we had 5 days of great snow and sun while we were staying and culminated the week with the Konigstour, a 37km route around the mountains with breath taking views and great runs! You can purchase a super ski pass for about 20 Euros above the standard which opens up multiple regions (the local slopes are vast and we found we had amble skiing without venturing further out)
In the accommodation there is a ski room to dry your skis and boots.
Thanks so much to Mark and Liz for letting us stay. We hope we can visit again in future.
I have stayed in a few places in Austria and South Germany and this has been the best and my personal favourite to date!
Liz is a keen skier and boarder having taken to the snow at 10 years old. Mark started skiing as an adult and learnt to ski in Maria Alm with Christian "Highguy" from Maria Alm ski school. We both love Maria Alm and the surrounding area and enjoy holidaying there all year round. There is so much to do that there just doesn't seem to be enough time to pack it all in! We hope that you will enjoy Maria Alm as much as we do.
We discovered Maria Alm by chance, after all it is considered to be the secret jewel in the crown of the Hochkonig (high king) area of Salzburgerland. Although we'd skied in the neighbouring Leogang/Saalbach area we'd never come across Maria Alm as it isn't on the radar of many Brits or British tour companies. Liz's first visit to Maria Alm was in September 2007 on a bright, sunny warm day, a subsequent visit a few weeks later saw snow and then a visit in November saw bright sun again. However, by Christmas 2007 the snow was thick across the mountains and the ski season had truly begun. We haven't had a bad ski season yet. The summers can be unpredictable weather wise, varying in temperature from the mid-teens to the high thirties and a mix of sun and rain. There's always plenty to do, so don't let the unpredictable weather put you off visiting what is a truly stunning area.
Our property is also our "home from home" and we have equipped it to a high standard with everything you would expect to find in your own home. Mark is a professional chef, so the kitchen is very well equipped.
