I know it's a cliche to say it's a home away from home but The Sawtelle house truly was. Comfortable beds, large washrooms, fully stocked kitchen!! Or host was accessible but not too accessible, of you know what I mean. Perfect!kitchen
This is an amazing property in an excellent location. It offers access to great food and entertainment. The host is quick to help with any needs, and I canât recommend this place enough!
Great location to access the festival in addition to easy access restaurants and tourist attractions. Clean and comfortable accommodations . Enjoyed our stay here and would return.
Perfect spot for family visiting to attend graduation at University of Arizona. Left the car parked and took the Sun Link for graduation ceremonies, easy walking to restaurants. Very clean and comfortable, wish weâd found this sooner!
We have stayed in this home numerous times and will definitely stay there again. It is clean, comfortable, and the location is perfect to walk to all of the restaurants and shops on 4th Ave. The hosts have made this a wonderful space that feels cozy and inviting.
The location was great for UofA and other fun restaurants. The house is historic and lovely. Very pet friendly!
But.... I did not like all the streetcar, bus, and traffic noises. Bring Earplugs!
This is the third time we have rented this house and every time we have a terrific time. The location is perfect for the things we like to do (close to museums, university campus, restaurants, theaters, public transportation, natural beauty, freeway access). The house is always clean and well stocked so if you want to cook itâs easy to do so. Best of all the host is the perfect combination of respecting your privacy and being responsive to whatever you might need.
We loved our stay in this wonderful home that is in the heart of the West University neighborhood. The streetcar stops are just a block away in two directions, itâs an easy walk to downtown or the university, and the freeways are nearby. And the house is right across the street from a terrific cafe that opens early and closes in the early evening. The house is very comfortable, nicely decorated, and very clean. Wireless is great and extends to the front porch, which is a nice place to sit and relax. Ian was the perfect host. We would love to rent the house again.
The house was really nice, good clean furniture, original artwork that is for sale on the walls. It is located a few hundred yards from a Sunlink light rail stop that makes it easy to get to downtown and the university. An excellent coffee shop and bar directly across the street. Walking distance to numerous restaurants and bars (and even downtown). As it is centrally located it can be noisy at night, but we did stay during UA homecoming and Halloween weekend. However, the location more than made up for any noise issues.
Having some coffee or tea in the house would be great as there aren't really any stores nearby and it would have been nice not to have to walk out for coffee every morning.
WE booked for 11 days during the Gem Show. The location was within a block of the streetcar stop, which went directly to the Convention Center, so that was very handy and fun to ride with the UA college students. We enjoyed the coffee shop across the street, the comfortable beds and linens, and the well-stocked kitchen. The owner responded quickly when we asked for some additional kitchen supplies. On the con side, the funiture was not comfortable, and was dated. Also on some nights, our sleep was disrupted with drag racing on 4th Avel; probably not a probem for short term stays. We didn't use the windowless large dining room, but thought it would make a great tv/theater room!
Overall this house is nice and a good location. I don't prefer to have cameras in the house or little signs telling me how to flush, use the ac and almost everything. The cameras only point at the front and back doors from the inside but I still don't like them. Unfortunately it was family weekend and we had a few too many people over. While everything was being conducted respectfully the owner was not happy with me. Ian I apologize again for the party. However we left the house perfect and were blamed for breaking a doorknob that is not used for locking the house. It didn't work great to start but I figured it was old and was not a locking lock anyway and did not report it. There was not physical damage so I guess it didn't turn well enough when we left. In the future I'll be sure to request permission from owners to have people over.
What a comfortable place to spend ten days! The kitchen is well-equipped with great workspace. There's an office (aka second bedroom) for the laptop. The living room has cozy couches for reading. The king-sized bed is great. The bathrooms work well. The dining table is perfect for meals. Ian is a responsive host and is right there if you need him but respects your privacy otherwise. The house is half a block from the tram and an easy walk to downtown and to the university if you don't want to take the tram. The hiking in Tucson, the art and the general ambience is terrific. We had a great stay.
Excellent access to AZ University and variety of restaurants and bars on 4th Ave. Free trolley runs right by the property and takes riders to University and down 4th Ave.
Great location, close to campus and lots of activity
We really enjoyed our stay. Ian was very responsive. We appreciated the amenities like coffee, tea and quite a few spices, Kleenexes, shampoo and the card and board games. No conditioner, which we ended up having to purchase so just something to note if you stay here. Highly recommend this location and Maggie's Cafe just across the street. We went there for breakfast 3 mornings in a row. :)
We booked this property to visit the UofA with our daughter. Check-in was simple. The house was clean and has plenty of space for everyone to be comfortable. The floorplan is a bit funky but that's typical of a 100-yr. old home which this is. The location is super convenient for visits to the UofA, Fourth Avenue and downtown. The streetcar goes right by throughout the day and night and you can walk pretty much everywhere. As some other reviews have mentioned, it can get quite noisy at night, as the restaurant across the street played loud music until around 10pm and there was a lot of car/motorcycle activity until around 2am. But we expected that and just turned on some extra fans to drown out the noise and it was manageable. There is a tv but there isn't cable to watch lots of channels so we headed down to a local bar to watch some football which was just fine. Owner was very responsive throughout the booking process and stay. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would gladly visit again.
This is the third time weâve stayed at this property. The house is great, the location is great, and the host is superb. We enjoy coming to Tucson during the winter to get sun and fun things to do. We have never been disappointed. We highly recommend the Sawtelle House.
