The house comfortably fit our group of 10 with plenty of space. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The kids especially liked the bunk room!Excellent location and a short walk to Miller Beach which was fantastic, and a hit with the kids! We enjoyed the hot tub and backyard space too.Good access to other regional activities in the area that we explored.Thank you for sharing your lovely home!!.
The home was nice and in a great location for my brotherâs wedding, but the hostâs behavior was extremely unprofessional and distressing. I informed her in advance that part of the wedding party would be staying, and the listing clearly stated that parties and events were allowed with a max of 14 people. It was unclear whether that meant total guests or just visitors, but we acted in good faith. On the night of the wedding, the host called me yelling that there were too many people and accused me of letting strangers into her house â despite my calm explanation that I needed to check with my brother. She never once stopped yelling and escalated things by threatening to call the police and demanding we leave immediately. As African American guests, this threat felt particularly alarming. We know how quickly those situations can become dangerous, and her approach was not only aggressive but deeply irresponsible.Everyone not staying at the house left promptly, and no police ever showed up. We checked out on time and followed all the hostâs instructions to avoid further conflict. Still, her hostility, lack of professionalism, and intimidation left us feeling unsafe and disrespected during what should have been a joyful occasion. The property itself was fine, but I would not recommend this rental based on how we were treated.
You can tell the owners have put a lot of work into redoing the home. It is beautifully remodeled and decorated. The first night we took lukewarm showers but the owners were responsive and we got it fixed the next day. The hot tub water level was low so the jets were spraying water outside of the tub. The dining room chairs and couches are well loved with cracks and stains in the chairs and sofas and I didn't feel comfortable sitting on them. I had to clean the tub before using it in the lower level. When we stripped the sheets we found stained mattress covers in 2 of the upstairs bedroom mattresses. It's a BEAUTIFUL home but needs some more updates. It's hard to pay a $400 cleaning fee when I had to go in and clean to be comfortable
We liked it so much the first time, we came back again to enjoy Miller Beach and had enough space for everyone. The weather was perfect and there is always plenty to do.
Stayed with family on our yearly get together. Plenty of room for the 7 of us. The place is very clean and what you see in the pictures is what we actually got which was nice. Attentive host, great you can walk to the beach, and plenty of space to relax and chill. Would stay again.
It was our 4th or 5th year at Miller beach area and loved as we did in previous times. First time at this house and we really liked. Good location (close to the beach), the house was very comfortable, with plenty of space. We were a combination of adults, kids and one dog.
Beach, Indiana Dunes, LEGOLAND, Holocaust Museum, GREAT TRIP
Nice home for our group of 6 adults and 5 children ages 15 to 3. We enjoyed the backyard fire pit for sâmores, walked to the beach every day, made 2 trips to Chicago, did the 3 dune challenge and the Diana of the Dunes Dare at the Indiana Dunes. A full week âŠThank you for sharing your home
The house had a lot of room and the beds were comfy. We had a group of 5 adults. However, we were all uncomfortable with the lack of window coverings, especially in the master bedroom and bathroom. Standing in the shower and being able to see the neighbor's windows was strange. It was also quite bright in the mornings because there were no blinds.
Kitchen was a nice size, but the pans were in really bad shape. I also got a bad burn on my hand because the potholder had a large hole in it, which I didn't know until it was too late. House was a good location for going to Indiana Dunes parks. There's also a nice disc golf course close by.
This property was perfect for our large group. We were a group of 4 adults and 8 children aged 5-15. The littlest two kids slept on camping mats on the floor of a parentâs room, which we knew would work well for that family. Everyone else had beds. Three full baths were wonderful for our group size, though the downstairs bath (and washing machine) only had hot water, so those showers were steaming hot. The hot tub and backyard were fun. Lots of indoor dining space between the oversized table and eat-at kitchen island, plus outdoor table on the back deck. We were delighted to discover a piano! We are a musical bunch and played it every day. Two recreation areas added to all the space: a lower level and a basement. Quiet neighborhood. Super close to the beach and dunes. We also spent a day in Chicago. Our stay was wonderful. If you want to boil a large pot of water for pasta, consider bringing your own pot, as there are only sauce pans. (We made them work!) Also, consider bringing a supply of consumable products (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, kitchen trash bags). There were some, but not much. Walmart is only 20 min away.
Great central location for getting to the various sports complexes our kids played at. Two families (4 adults and 5 teens) for very comfortably. Lots of space to spread out and/or gather together for games. Kids loved ping pong and piano and grown ups loved the easy access to the lovely beach. Margaret was very friendly, accessible and accommodating. House was clean and beautifully decorated. We had a really nice stay.
From the minute we walked inside we felt right at home! It was very clean and the layout of the house is very welcoming and open. The kitchen had all the necessities to make dinner and enjoy each other with plenty of seating. The hot tub was perfect with the waterfall and lights. It was a short walk to the beach where we enjoyed the day in the sun! We will definitely rent this location again if our travels bring us back up to northern Indiana! This was a mother / daughter weekend to remember.
This home was a five minute walk from the beach and we enjoyed amazing sunsets everyday! The layout and amenities of the home were perfect for family to meet and spend time together, both indoors and out. Our dog enjoyed the fenced in yard immensely. This is the second property that weâve rented from this host-sheâs great and very responsive.
We really enjoyed our time at the house. We had the whole family (6 adults and 4 kids) and had plenty of space, and the multi-level was nice. We had a couple of small issues, but they were resolved quickly. The beach is super nice, not crazily crowded (even the holiday week) and as close as advertised. We easily walked down and back more than once most days. We used the deck and hot tub, too. Overall, a really positive experience!
The home was beautiful and a great space for our group of 10. There was lots of room to spread out and the kitchen was great and well stocked for lots of meals at the house. We loved how close it was to the beach and visited every day sometimes twice.
Eight women, who grew up in Miller, shared a reunion stay in this comfortable house. Three actually, lived on Vermillion from the 50's to the 80's. Our visit felt very familiar and nostalgic. A photo shoot at the beach, at the Pavilion where we had our proms, and in front of the Wirt H.S. sign will help us remember our stay. Thank you, Margaret.
This house is within a very short walk to the beach and easy drives to the State and National Dunes Parks. The hiking is fabulous! Beach, Dunes, forest and rare Black Oak Savana.
There are not many dining choices nearby BUT the kitchen has wonderful appliances making dinners in the house fun to prepare. The local Jewel grocery has a surprising variety and quality of fresh food.
Margret, the owner does a very good job responding to needs or concerns that come up. She clearly cares about the property and the VRBO guests.
This home has an great open concept for everyone to engage. We really enjoyed the spacious deck which was nice day and night. The beach was wonderful. The home was more equipped than expected. We would stay here again.
We where here visiting family living in Chicago and wanted to get outside the city and thought we would try the beach/Lake Michigan. Great beach with easy access from the property. Great first impression walking into the property - clean and spacious and accommodating. Back yard was completely fenced which was important to us because we had our two dogs with us, a Golden Retriever and Mixed Breed, both the same size. Thanks to the host for having a place that accommodated pets. We would consider this house in the future. Suggestions for making the property even more accommodating - have more than one key for house access or switch to a combination lock; mention the wifi name as well as the password; have lights that come on with the switch in the bedrooms; the showers did not have a mixing, cold and hot water, capability that worked - had to go to the water heater and turned down the temperature - mention this or have a plumber trouble shoot the mixing capability ; the sprinkler system came on early every morning and soaked part of the deck and the cushions for the deck furniture - can the sprinkler system be adjusted; clean the cushion covers for the deck furniture - these where removed from the deck box - they where completely dirty and soaking wet - they had not been removed in quite awhile it seemed - the deck box had firewood in it and water in the bottom which kept the cushions wet. We enjoyed our stay here and would consider this beach location and the house in the future.
Overall the property is beautiful with really nice decor and amenities. Beds are super comfortable and the kitchen was really well appointed. There are lots of different areas in the house to congregate which is good for a larger group or family. Our kids especially enjoyed the piano, foosball table, and ping pong table! The location 1.5 blocks from the beach is amazing. We thought there would be more going on in downtown Miller but sadly the town looks pretty burnt out. You'll have to go further afield to find some nice restaurants and shops. The property owners are very nice. That said, we had a bit of an issue with one of the toilets not functioning and the response was slow and the issue was never resolved.
Margaret has been rehabbing homes since 2003. In 2014 she bought her first property in Miller Beach (711962) and is also currently offering it for rent through VRBO. She is a passionate home designer and remodeler. She is a mother of 4 children aging from 19-12. She has 2 dogs and several horses.
