House is beautiful, kitchen was great and the porch was amazing!! One of the best places weâve stayed to host a family reunion. Plus, itâs walking distance to our favorite lake. Thank you!!
The house was well stocked and very close to the beach and Marquette park. The hot tub was a hit and we loved all of the different hang out areas. The host was also very responsive. Highly recommend!
It is tough to find a comfortable place to get together with a very big family, but this place was awesome. Beach and playgrounds just a few minutes walk away. Backyard space. Giant kitchen and laundry - crucial with this many people and kids.
This was a great rental with plenty of room for 3 families and our mother (7 adults and 7 kids). The house was modern, stocked with essentials, and had plenty of entertainment opportunities and ample parking spaces. The host was always quick to reply and very accommodating. Easy walk to the beach was a great bonus!
This was the first time that my family and I have been together in over a year because of the pandemic. We could not have chosen a better property, it is a very clean and updated property with a lot of things to do that whole family could enjoy. My family and I are truly grateful for this experience and we would come back again. Thanks
This is our 2nd year to rent this lovely home. It is so spacious and enough room for our family. A well equiped kitchen, and plenty of seating for us to eat and play table games. Comfy beds. There are areas to sit and read or sit on the porch or do a puzzle. The piano is a plus. Lots of inside activitties, pool, pingpong, air hockey table for the kids if the weather is not favorable. An easy walk to the beach, great bike path nearby, frisbee golf, and hot tub.
Lovely space with multiple comfortable sitting areas for conversation, game-playing, watching TV. Used the well appointed kitchen for preparing Thanksgiving dinner. Loved the bathroom features--overhead mounted rain shower heads, and grand soaking tub in the king size suite. Easy walk to lakefront beach and lovely Marquette Park
This was a fantastic place for our extended family to be together (grandparents, adult children and 4 children).
There is plenty of room and lots to do in the home. Additionally, having extra beach towels available and a wagon designed to go in the sand was a huge plus pulling two 3 years olds and a 1 year old. The kitchen was amazing and since most of our meals were together in the home, it made prep and eating together work very well.
The proximity to the beach was great and we often walked there several times a day.
I would highly recommend this home as a wonderful place to stay!
The property was wonderful. We loved the main living area where we could all gather for visiting, cooking, eating, play games, etc. and have plenty of room for all 9 of us and a baby and dog. Had great amenities which we didnât get around to using. Had everything on the kitchen you might need and more. All was clean, well kept and great outdoor areas which we would have enjoyed if the weather had cooperated. Will definitely keep this in mind for a future get together.
This is a beautiful house so close to several nice beaches and the Dunes. We loved the layout, and there was plenty of space for the 13 of us. We loved the outdoor grill, pool table, the TV set ups, hot tub and the air hockey table. Do much indoor entertainment. One suggestion would be to have a few more or better ladles/cooking apparatus/can openers etc.. But we had plenty of cutlery, plates, towels etc. The property manager Magaret was super responsive and worked with us through some of our special requests. We had an amazing time. Thanks!!
New beautiful place with top of the line appliances
Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for a large gathering. Each bathroom has unique tile and glass door showers. Appliances and pots and pans were top of the line and made prep part of the vacation. Yes just a short walk to the beach but the road in front was lacking a side walk and traffic was faster than posted speed. But then a nice winding sidewalk to the nearby park and beach. Early mornings we had the beach to ourselves! Maybe lacking nigh time larger selection of dining but we ate in most nights. Overall this place is a gem and the area will improve with time. Would stay again for sure. Owner was always quick to communicate.
Casa Blanca was a lovely home and met the needs and wants for our family getaway. We had more than enough room for everyone. A very short walk to the beach and a great playground for our two five year olds. The pool table, ping pong table and air hockey were fun additions. The kitchen well appointed. This is picky, but we wished there were tongs for grilling and a better wine opener. All the beds were very comfortable. Soft sheets, nice pillows and towels. Ownerâs bathroom had a luxurious tub. My communication with Crystal, the property manager and Margaret, the owner was helpful and responsive. Margaret took a late evening call to help us reset the dishwasher. I would highly recommend this property. Thank you for a memorable experience.
Seven families had a great week-long reunion. A picture on Houzz shows the lower level bedroom has a door to the outside; bikes and other gear can come in and out without having to navigate stairs! From our 3-year-old to our 75-year-old, we loved using the ping-pong table. We couldn't find the cornhole (nor the hammock), but we found an unexpected bocce ball set! The overstuffed chairs near the pool table were worn and superfluous; the oversized bean bag chair got a lot more use. On the back lawn we played our croquet set and enjoyed the hot tub. We took the beach wagon to the beach, which was delightful. The clothes washer was out of order. The bedroom on the lower level has no closet, nor any place to hang clothes, so we used the mudroom coat hooks. We enjoyed dining on the wrap-around porch, using two large tables. However, the door from the kitchen to the porch is hard to open and close, so going back for seconds was tedious. Reviews mentioning that door date back to 2021. The piano is in better shape than we expected; thanks, Margaret, for getting it in shape! The coffee table in the upper section of the first floor was great for jigsaw puzzles. Our young kid's favorite area was the living room on the second floor; they reconfigured the couch cushions as houses, a bank, and a "marketplace". Despite adjusting the thermostats, the second floor was too warm and the lower level was too cool. These quibbles aside, we loved Casa Blanca and will seriously consider returning.
The home had plenty of room for all of us. The location worked well for the activities we wanted to do. Check-in was easy. Kitchen was well equipped. We enjoy our stay.
Gorgeous and immaculate property a block from the beach. It was perfect for my cousins and our kids! The host was very responsive. Would love to stay again!
Very nice inside accommodations. Roomy, equipped, clean, and fun. Social coffee on the front deck started our mornings (some updated cushions needed). Enjoyed the game rooms and nightly games, family meals, smores at the fire pit, and close proximity to beach and park.
This house was the perfect location to meet up with Grandma and Grandpa while we were traveling with our 3 kids and dogs. The house had plenty of space and was just a short distance from a walking path for our dogs, as well as a short walk to the beach. We were able to visit Indiana Dunes National Park easily and were only a short drive to the train station that took us into Chicago. Great location. Lots of wild life to view in the neighborhood.
We had rented this property last year for our family Christmas and were so happy with it, we did so again this year. It was perfect, as expected. So many amenities we didnât even get a chance to use. Wonderful host, location and space for 11 adults, 1 toddler, and a geriatric dog. We will definitely rent again and everyone thought we should try to meet up in the summer sometime.
The house was beautiful and there was so much stuff for the kids and adults to do! The host was resposinve to all our needs. The only thing that did not work was the coffee maker. Easy fix:) would recommend a stay here!
We had a great trip to Miller Beach. Margaretâs house was as described. Lots of board games, plus pool, ping pong and air hockey were great for the kids. Check in was easy and her communication was quick.
Stunning Home Steps From Lake Michigan and National Park
Margaret's home was SO beautiful and comfortable for my family - there were 10 of us ranging in ages from 3 to 76! My husband and I enjoyed our morning coffee on the front porch, listening to the birds and watching the deer stroll by. Our two families from Texas and Virginia met in Miller Beach to explore Indiana Dunes National Park. The park and the beaches are stunning. The home was a great location for these activities.
We were not too familiar with the Gary, Indiana area living so far away, and admittingly were a little worried as we were just a couple miles away from the house and the surrounding area looked a bit abandoned. Once we got to the home and explored the neighborhood, we felt safe and right at home. We did have to drive to Merrillville (25 mins away) to find a more robust grocery store, which wasn't a huge deal.
All in all, we had a wonderful stay! Thanks for the hospitality Margaret!
Margaret is a realtor with @ properties in the Chicago area. She started Restore North Shore, a construction and design company in 2010. She discovered Miller Beach in 2013, and purchased this abandoned cottage in 2016 with the desire to breathe life back into it. It was a complete labor of love, and she hopes to purchase more homes in need of repair throughout Chicago and the Miller area.
