We pulled up to the house and it looked like it was abandoned. Entering the house we were greeted by dead cockroaches in many rooms and food on the table. The owner was dismissive ("expect cockroaches in the desert") and VRBO gave us the run around. We would have fled to the nearest hotel but didn't want to eat the cost of the house. We did stay the full time and were reasonably comfortable. But the outside is derelict to the point of being dangerous and the 80s carpet (yes, I grew up in a house down the street so I know what the original house looked like and when changes were done) was hard to walk on without cringing. This is all to say, the photos on the house are deceptive, the reviews seem inflated, and though the neighborhood is wonderful, prepare for a very dark, dangerous and dated experience.
We really enjoyed this property! We love the area. The house was very comfortable. It is dated, but we happen to enjoy these furnishings, especially the antique lamps. The artwork was lovely as well. The owners were so nice and very gracious hosts. We would stay there again.
This is a beautiful property. The neighborhood is very nice and I was happy to be close to my daughterâs home.
We encountered a few minor issues, but they were dealt with quickly. The property manager responded to any questions I had immediately. I hope this property is available The next time I come to Tucson.
We had a wonderful time at this Tucson very large home and rented for 2 months. The sunsets over downtown were spectacular even with unfortunate weather.
The house is in need of some updating and is being done per the owner as funds become available. Anyone owning a home understands.
The beds in the bedrooms were very very comfortable with brand new mattresses.
We loved this neighborhood alsoâŠ.very quiet, beautiful homes, and nicely paved roads.
Thanks to Yvonne and Billy for sharing their home.
9 family members from Michigan, 4 from California. The couples stayed at my home, I stayed with the 20 somethings in the rental. Lots of room, everyone had their on space. The kids loved the view and pool, one even braved a dip. A great time was had by all! Yhank you Yvonne and Billy!
This house has a great pool area and really nice views. It was clean and comfortable. Its also in a very peaceful neighborhood. We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay there again.
This home is an amazing place to get away for some quality relaxing time. There are groceries and restaurants close by, however a short 15 minute drive further into Tucson opens up a plethora of amazing options from budget friendly to elegance. The views from the home are spectacular and the rugs and paintings of the home provide a very warm feeling that more updated "modern" environments lack in my opinion. If you are wanting to stay in a home that is updated in every sense, "ready to sell", and perfect in every way this may not be for you. But if you are looking for a beautiful place to meet up with friends and or family and spend some time in a great neighborhood with a lovely pool and even lovelier views, this is the home for you. This home has been described by some people as "lived in", I however wouldn't hesitate to rent it again on our next visit to Tucson, provided Yvonne and Billy would have us back. We really enjoyed our stay.
Absolutely beautiful property with stunning views of the Mountains and of the city! Very close to the local grocery and restaurants. Not very far from Sabino Canyon, Tanque Verde Falls and Sajuaro National Park East. Extremely easy check in and hosts were great! If Iâm ever in Tucson again, I would definitely love to stay again!!
Older beautiful home in prestigious foothill area of Tucson. Stores, shops, pubs just minutes away. LOVED THE POOL! Would stay again when we return to area.
The good: the view! Great outdoor space right outside the living room and below by the pool; the location, up in the foothills, very convenient location. The bad: this house is really tired. Hasn't been cared for / kept up in a long time. The ugly: the place was really dirty. Dog hair on furniture, orange carpet with Rugs over it, pretty sure hadn't been cleaned in a while. Light fixtures were full of dirt and dust, toaster oven hadn't been cleaned after many uses. Grill was filthy. Bathroom faucets were crusty. Every closet and drawer had junk in them. An old shoe, a broken TV, old curtain rods, used drapes, used masks in bathroom drawer, etc.
The house was very nice and well layed out but could use some up dating.
It is well situated for going out hiking and other excursions. It is also close to shopping and restaurants. We happened to go to Tucson when it actually snowed thereâŠ..unexpected but we still had fun.
Disappointed the pool had no heat,we planned on a few days to relax. Also the stairs rails to pool were very unstable and some of our party couldn't make it down around the over grown cactus. Many of the plugs in the house either didn't work or the plugs fell out of the wall. The fire pit had no gas and was unable to be enjoyed because of scary stairs. Nice property in need of update
This property was as described. The pool is beautiful and even though it was too cold to actually enjoy, much to my grandchildren's dismay, our family spent lots of time in the pool area. Come to find out, most people do not heat their pools in January in Tucson as it is extremely expensive. The property owner led us to believe that heating the pool was possible, but after my cancelation date had passed we found that it was not ever going to be heated as some major repairs were going to be needed in order to make that happen. The barbecue grill needed special attention as well. The propane tank attachment was leaking and had to be monitored or your propane was going to disappear rather quickly. Similar issues with the fire pit table. It looked nice but needed mechanical maneuvering to get it to work. Coffee pot needs to be replaced and some plumbing issues needed to be addressed but we still had a wonderful stay. The beds are all comfortable and there was plenty of linens and towels. There are even two large sofas that will work
as beds if needed. The house is awesome but has been seriously neglected for some time. Thank goodness my husband is good at fixing things and making them work. That is a requirement when renting this property.
Overall, this location was as expected with exception to the cleanliness. Upon first move in, I reached out to the host immediately regarding the dead cockroaches and mouse poop found in the kitchen cabinets (and dead roaches throughout the house). I requested the house get a thorough clean, since we would be living there for 6 weeks. I was told I would have to pay the manager for a clean, since there was no cleaning-during-stay on the listing (despite this being brought up during initial move in). When I replied that the kitchen and house shouldâve been cleaned prior to move in, I was told that I shouldnât expect every cabinet to be deep cleaned (I disagree) and that I shouldnât complain because she let me move in early (I really appreciate this, but donât think it has anything to do with the cleanliness of the property). I was extremely frustrated by this conversation, because the host was very kind before and after the stay. For the first week we found/killed cockroaches dailyâ after reaching out to the host again, she did send Truly Nolan who sprayed the place for us. While I believe a quick wipe down clean is done between guests, it is very clear the house hasnât been deep cleaned in months or years. All of our allergies severely worsened anytime we were in the house for several hours (my friend required extra allergy medication during this 6 weeks).
The rest of the review: the furniture was outdated, but the photos online show that accurately so we had no problem with this. We are a group of medical students, so we were happy to find a house we could all have our own space for a decent price. The backyard and view is beautiful. The neighborhood is pleasant and great for walking. Prior to move in, the host was easy to communicate with and was very accommodating.
Overall, the house was as expected and worked for what we needed. My major complaints are the cleanliness issue and (in my opinion) the rude interaction with the host when I brought up a reasonable request.
The property was perfect for our two families to have a wonderful home base for our Tucson Adventures. The owner was super responsive and kind. The privacy, backyard, and lots of room to spread out made this place just perfect.
This place was perfect for our party of 4 "senior 60-something" guys on our annual Fall golf trip to AZ. Everything as advertised. The sunset view from the pool/deck was fantastic, while we were basking in the 85-90F sunshine!. Great place, great communication with Yvonne. Would definitely stay there again!

As a real estate agent with RE/MAX Fine Properties, my husband and I have the privilege of presenting this cherished property, which we inherited from my mother in 2012. Originally purchased by my mother in the early 80s, this stunning home sits on a sprawling 1-acre lot in the foothills of Tucson. Our affection for this area and its beauty runs deep, making it a special place close to our hearts.
Residing in Scottsdale, Arizona, we also offer another remarkable listing: our guest casita located at our primary residence. Over the past four years, we've had the pleasure of hosting guests and have thoroughly enjoyed the connections made with wonderful people along the way.
Being a Tucson native, my affection for this region runs deep. This house boasts stunning views of city lights, mountains, and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. Surrounded by native animals and plants, the area exudes a sense of tranquility and privacy. It's a serene haven, offering peace and quiet amidst the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Several unique features set this property apart. A few years back, we installed a striking copper-colored metal inline seam roof, lending the house a contemporary edge. Additionally, we undertook a complete remodel of the pool and patio area, resulting in a visually stunning transformation. The pool now boasts a sleek blue glass tile finish, complemented by a color-changing light system and a luxurious purple flagstone deck.
Further enhancing the property, we recently renovated the bathrooms and installed a new AC unit for added comfort. While the kitchen retains its original 1970s charm, it remains fully functional, equipped with stainless steel appliances. However, we have plans to elevate the kitchen's aesthetic next summer with an upgrade project in the works.
