This was by far one of the most awful stays I have had. First the furniture is all out dated more than the photos provided and/or broken. We sat on the couch and a cockroach came out. Secondly, the house was hot and humid. We turned the AC on for a couple of hours and noticed it did not cool the house. We were then accused by the host of breaking the AC because it cannot be set under 75 F or it will cause issues. This was never communicated to us at booking or check in. It was only communicated to us after I asked the host why the house was not cooling down. If the AC is so fragile, that is something that should be brought to our attention before booking (as that impacts our stay). The LATEST we should know about that is at check in. He told us we just wouldn't have AC for the rest of our trip and blamed us. We booked specifically for properties that had AC as it was the middle of summer. Terrible stay.
The neighborhood was great. Nice home at the end of a cul-de-sac. The home was in dire need of several repairs. Master shower was leaking water downstairs to the kitchen. Several items were broken, locks, screens, carpet dirty, large spiders - needed to be sprayed. Annoying bug monitors. Oven had strange directions to turn it off. Home was roomy. Owner stated it was being removated 2 weeks after our stay. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Overall nice place. I would say that the beds/mattresses are very hard and some of the furniture needs to be replaced/updated and some of the bathrooms/showers donât work right and there was no hot water to the master bath tub. Communication with the owner was GREAT, very responsive! And the place is convenient and overall good for the price!
We had a wonderful stay at this charming home in Vista! The location was ideal â close to beautiful beaches, Carlsbad, and other nearby attractions, which made exploring the area super convenient. The host was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay, which we really appreciated. The home itself has a cozy, vintage feel, and while itâs an older property with older furniture, it was clean and comfortable. A few updates in the future could make it even more enjoyable, but it certainly didnât take away from the overall experience.Overall, a peaceful and convenient spot for a relaxing getaway. We would definitely consider staying again!
Blairâs house was a great accommodation for our trip and provided tons of room for our 8 guests. Plenty of space, a lot of natural light and centrally located to the places we were visiting while in town. The host responded rapidly and remedied any questions/ issues that arose during our stay. I would recommend this property if you have an event in the area or even just for a getaway. Only downside is there is only 1 TV in the house, although with the little time we actually spent at the house this wasnt a huge issue. Otherwise our stay was amazing, we have recommended it already to family and friends and will definitely be staying here again!
Pros:
- the host was extremely responsive
- the listing was affordable
- the house was clean (as in hygienic)
Cons:
- the house was gross. Like stained carpets, cracked walls, stains on wall. Its an old house thatâs run down and needs some TLC.
- after we signed up, we discovered we had to pay $35/day for air conditioning. In southern California, in July. Just raise your list price.
- Tons of rules about this property, particularly the yard. But the yard was mostly overgrown succulents and dead grass. We ended up not evening spending time there because it wasnât a hospitable place.
- there are only 6 chairs in the entire house. The listing says it sleeps more than 6, but only 6 can sit at one time.
All in all, ok if youâre looking for an economy vacation. Otherwise Iâd skip it. Raised from 2 to 3 stars because the host was clear and responsive.
We had such a lovely long weekend at Blair's place! With seven of us there, it never felt crowded, as the house is open and full of natural light. We enjoyed the backyard- the variety of succulents, the crows flying overhead in the evening, the cozy sitting areas, and especially playing basketball. The location is fantastic. The neighborhood is quiet and well taken care of, and we felt quite safe there. There are grocery stores nearby, and also many tasty places to eat. The ocean is 15 minutes away, Legoland 20 min, Birch Aquarium 30min, and Balboa Park in San Diego is 45. After a busy day out seeing and doing things, it was a treat to return to such a comfortable, calm, inviting space and relax together as a family. The highlight of the weekend was finding a bucket labeled "indoor snowball fight". What a wonderful idea! We had so many belly laughs and the whole family played! It was just a great weekend all around in a fantastic place. We would love to stay there again!
It wasn't very clean. The gazebo was up 3 concrete steps with no railing; 2 of my party could not negotiate those steps. Showers had very slippery floors and no grab bars. Towels were limited to one per guest for 6 nights. Unit sleeps 8, there are 6 chairs in the dining room, which was very dimly lighted. The patio doors did not open. The patio contained one small table with two bar stools. If this was a motel, it would not get 2 stars on its best day.
mY TEAMS WAS IN SAN DIEGO TO WORK AT NIGHT. THE HOUSE WAS A GREAT PLACE AND REST AT NIGHT. STAYED HERE FOR 6 WEEKS. CENTRAL LOCATION AND GREAT FOR WHATEVER YOU NEED.
My family and I rented the place for a week. Very nice as opposed to going to a hotel. Quiet neighborhood. The one issue we had was a clicking sound and sparks coming from the gas stove. I contacted Blair to let him know about it and he had just been informed before our stay. He said it was due to a part needing to be repaired and it was safe to use the stove and oven. The clicking and spark were a slight annoyance from time to time, but it would not deter me from renting the place again since Blair assured me they were going to fix it after we checked out. Blair was definitely on top of everything and communication was great, timely and responsive to our concerns. It was also great to have a usable washer and dryer to do a few loads of laundry. Definitely worth the money!!
Everything worked out well, from the booking of the property to through out our stay. The location is perfect as it is about a 10-15 minute drive to LEGOLAND and about a 45 minute drive to San Diego. Costco is just around the corner, as well as grocery stores to stock up with food to cook in the home. Blair is very accommodating, quick to respond, and friendly.
Well laid out large home very comfortably accommodated our 3 families for a soccer tournament. Boys shared the room with twins and each of the parents had their own room & bathroom. Kitchen/family room and outside gazebo are great gathering areas. Very comfortable with easy access to restaurants, close to beautiful beaches. Not fancy but feels like home away from home.
We had to stay in a hotel on the first night because one of the doors didnât lock. We were met with rudeness, but the situation was fixed the next day. Or we would not have stayed. It cost us an extra $250.00 on top of the $500 a night we were paying for the property.
The floors and walls are filthy along with the toaster oven and many other items. I had to wash towels and bedspreads before they could be used comfortably.
Not sure we will use VRBO again as the description or condition of property cannot be trusted.
Property on the outside was quite lovely....but the inside was of more importance and it was unacceptable and quite gross.
I would not recommend this place!
Had to vacate our home for termite tenting and needed a place that takes dogs. Blair was very accommodating. The yard was nice and big for them to run around and the neighborhood was great to walk them. The house was very clean and comfortable. Blair was always quick to respond to any question. It was perfect for the weekend.
I really enjoy providing a property for families and friends to come together and spend time with each other. My property has many different spaces where guests can relax together. Whether indoors or out in the property, a sense of calm will arrive after a short time spent here.
Personally I prefer the outdoor spaces as there is a constant harmony of bird songs.
It brings me much joy to share this wonderful property with guests from all over the world.
This property benefits from ample green space surrounding the property. The green space and the property itself have quite a number of trees which work to keep the interior of the home cool during summer. The trees also provide for many birds that live on the property.
The trees also provide excellent privacy while outdoors. The property is located at the end of a long culdesac which does not get many visitors.
The vaulted ceiling provides for a bright and airy feel in the home. There are many different spaces in which to spend time with family and friends.
The garden is a mix of different tree species from the giant Canary Date Palm to the Torrey Pines.
The plants are mostly desert plants, such as succulents, aloe, cacti, and agave.
The property is located at the end of a long culdesac which does not get many visitors.
The vaulted ceiling provides for a bright and airy feel inside the home. There are many different spaces in which to spend time with family and friends. The decor is uncluttered, simple and comfortable with different textures. Wrought iron, wood, leather, granite, and stainless steel.
