Casa la Cala est nouvellement répertorié dans VRBO par les hôtes expérimentés John & Ellen. Nous avons accueilli des centaines d'invités pendant plusieurs années dans nos autres maisons de vacances.

En 2018, nous avons eu l'honneur d'être à l'affiche de l'épisode 11 du salon international du tourisme «Sense of Place».

Casa la Cala est une maison magnifiquement rénovée située dans la meilleure partie de Safety Harbor. Entouré par la nature la plus sereine, une marche de moins de 5 minutes vous mènera au cœur du centre-ville, au cœur du port de sécurité. Immaculate home in artsy neighborhood

This was a great find for my family when visiting Grandparents in Florida. Neighborhood is walkable with lots of restaurants and shops. Beds were comfortable, location is quiet, house couldn’t have been cleaner.

Safety Harbor Visit

The house was very lovely. Property owner gave very good detailed instructions for check-in and was available for any questions. If you want to be close to the beach this place is a 30 minute drive to one. I would recommend this location.

Paradise in Safety Harbor

This is a beautiful property with serene surroundings and is very quiet. So many special touches in the house such as a coffee and tea bar, bottle of wine with snacks left, etc. Super comfortable beds. Owners are over the top nice. Great communication.

We loved it!

We really loved our stay at your beautiful house and property. The check in process was very easy. The house was well stocked and very clean. Beds were very comfy and it has a gorgeous wrap around deck with beautiful lighting. The back yard is very private and has beautiful Spanish Moss trees. The owner John was so helpful with suggestions for the area. He was a pleasure to talk to and answered any questions we had before and during our stay. We will definitely be back!

Relaxing time in Safety Harbor with Family

We checked in without any problems at all and found to our delight this beautiful home that had all the amenities of our home plus ! From the cleanliness to the fresh towels/linens and even a chilled bottle of wine waiting with snacks to greet us! Could not say enough about this home except I would love to own it myself...having a wrap around porch with fire pit just adds to the charm and if you ever want to visit Safety Harbor this is a must ! Old Florida with updated accommodations

First off, the communication with the owners was outstanding. They are truly superb hosts. The house was immaculate and had several unexpected treats awaiting us upon our arrival, which were fully appreciated. We experienced great weather while there and sat out on the expansive back porch quite a bit. The porch furniture is a bit retro but just not all that comfortable for sitting as long as we preferred to while enjoying the weather. The house is located in a very private spot at the end of a street in a residential neighborhood. Though the trees and shrubbery mostly block the view of other homes, we could hear casual conversations and music coming from the neighbors when they were also out in their yards. This was not an issue for us, but it’s important for people to understand that it truly is a residential area. The benefit of its location, though, is that it is definitely within walking distance of the cute downtown area as well as the waterfront. When we did take the car to these areas, we also noticed that it was very easy to find parking spots. As far as the interior, it is so nicely decorated and comfortable. The stay helped us to experience a taste of a quintessential Florida neighborhood and charming town.

We Came Back!

Our experience in August of 2021 was so awesome that we knew exactly where we wanted to stay when we returned! We so appreciate the little touches like the snacks and beverages, especially after our long drive down from NY. The home is bright, clean and so comfortable. We have so much fun entertaining my local family on the huge wrap around porch. My sister loved the house so much that this year she stayed at another property of John and Ellen's next door in Casa Artista so she and her family wouldn't have to drive back and forth across the bay from Riverview. Thank you John and Ellen, we are already looking forward to next years visit!

Perfect Location for Relaxing Vacation

Chose property based on near beaches and nearby activities. Did not have any knowledge of Tampa/St. Pete area. Safety Harbor location is perfect for couples and dogs. We are active early 60's, came here for vacation and some work in Tampa. House was perfect for dogs and relaxing stay. Host could not have been nicer or more helpful. We walked 2 blocks to different restaurant every night. All were exceptional for food and friendly service, great vibe in the town. Very dog friendly, ad safe to walk around. Food also casual gourmet, took our dogs and ate best tuna and grouper meals. Large park and bayside walkway for exercise and dogs. I wish we had time to enjoy the casual cycling. We were also in the best location to explore the whole Clearwater/St.Pete and gulf coast. Would not have benefited us to rent on the beach as "None" allow dogs with exception of a few, very small areas that were nowhere near other rentals. We were central to drive to the few dog beaches. This house and location was perfect in every way. Even without animals, perfect location.

One of the best rentals we've ever booked!

We have nothing but super positive things to say about this place. Roomy, tastefully decorated and with all the modern amenities (and then some!) we could possibly need. Communication with the owner was easy. Some bonus tips for future guests: We paid $35 each for a day pass at the Safety Harbor Resort & Spa, and it was worth every penny. The pass gives you unlimited access to all 3 pools (one large outdoor resort-style pool, one indoor, and one lap pool) and all the perks and amenities offered to full members, including access to a locker and bathrobe (the locker rooms were surprisingly large and well-equipped, too). The pool bar food is excellent. Totally worth it. We had intended to spend a couple of hours working out and doing pool laps... we ended up spending the entire day enjoying the outdoor pool and property! The resort is a short walk from the house. *Everywhere* is a short walk from the house. Truly a very convenient location right in town. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We felt right at home. Highly recommend.

Superb Florida Retreat and Host

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful week in Safety Harbor's Casa la Cala. From the minute we drove onto the property, John welcomed us to this completely renovated home, with its spacious wrap-around deck, in a private natural setting. We have previously vacationed in the Tampa and Clearwater Beach area, however, this was our first visit to Safety Harbor. We prefer VRBO properties by premier partners and were not disappointed. The property listing was very accurate and John was very helpful in answering questions, sharing additional information about the area, and assisting with special requests, before we arrived and during our visit. You will find that Casa la Cala has been completely renovated with quality craftsmanship, equipped with excellent furnishings and appliances, that you will see from the minute you open the front door. It is somewhat difficult to spotlight some of the favorite features about our stay because there were several (i.e., king-sized master bedroom suite, private bathrooms for each bedroom, spacious open floor plan, high efficiency HVAC, stocked coffee/tea cart, full-sized and high-end appliances, serene deck/patio area) . Although the master bedroom suite is very spacious, we did find the two remaining bedrooms are very small and somewhat cozy for a couple. They would work well for a single adult or older teen. The property is within walking distance to restaurants and the Safety Harbor Spa and a short drive to area beaches. We certainly appreciated John's assistance by presenting us with a beach package to enjoy Clearwater Beach. Thankfully, before making a decision to rent this property, we read the posted reviews from guests who have rented other properties, owned by John. These owners consistently receive high praise and we are joining the fan club. Casa la Cala definitely deserves to be classified as a top-tier property. We would welcome an opportunity to return, with other friends or family, when future plans include a visit to the Tampa area.

Relaxing get away

"Highly recommend this amazing home! It was spotless, well stocked, goodie’s for the guests and a hand written welcome note that made us feel right at home! The fenced in porch and backyard was fabulous, our fur-sons definitely gave their approval. The home was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Beds were extremely comfortable. Excellent communication from the host. Clear and easy check in and check out information. We will definitely be back!

Family stay for my son‘s wedding

The home was a wonderful greeting to my family of 6+3 dogs. I had my mother there who is elderly and my cousin and they stayed in the master and then two couples stayed in the other rooms which included myself. It was great having three full baths, the back patio is awesome! It kept the dogs confined ! We cooked for an after wedding event at the brides house and the kitchen was very sufficient for that. I did a crab boil for the kids before the wedding. It worked out great! It helped That my boyfriends parents live in the area Since I needed to borrow an extra pot. It was overall probably my best Vrbo experience! Highly highly recommend stay at the South properties . The location was perfect , Set an acute neighborhood with a little town, full of shops and restaurants!

Very Clean, Great Location

Our stay was excellent! We were a group of (2) in our 50’s and (3) in 80’s. Here are some positive and “good to know” highlights: Positive: - great communication with owner, very responsive - super clean property - location is .5 mile, easy walk, from downtown safety harbor - area felt very safe - neat wildlife around property - well appointed kitchen - great decore around the house - beautiful wrap around porch - nice coffee bar that has small pit and Kuerig (some pods on-site to welcome guests that first morning, otherwise bring your own coffee) - the twin air mattress is very comfortable and holds air well overnight - excellent water pressure in showers - some shampoos/conditioners on-site “Good to know” (some recommendations to owners): - we left an umbrella there as a house donation, as we didn’t find one on-site (rained during our stay)…hopefully will be useful to other guests when it rains during their stay - plenty of chairs on the porch, but loungers would be nice for relaxing - recommendation…mount long mirror on the wall Thank you John and Ellen for the beautiful home to stay in!

Great getaway for rest and relaxation!

We really enjoyed the property overall. It was clean and bright right from the first step into the Casa! The home had everything we wanted. It was spacious, comfortable and private! We have two small dachshunds so the fenced porch was a great place to hang out and not have to has them on their leads. The was sizable and looked out onto trees. The neighbor was quiet. We felt very comfortable there. It was also handy for short walks to the pier or short drives to the parks and across to the gulf area. There was no shortage of things to do. We liked the village environment. It was very laid back and casual. Not very touristy which was a plus for us! If I had one thing that could be improved on, it would be the grass and yard. Besides that, we had a great time! The hosts are very attentive. They addressed any concerns that we had. I would definitely recommend any of their properties confidently. They would be at the top of our list of properties that we have visited over the years! Just loved it!

Beautiful Home / Great Host

From the first time talking to John I knew that we made the right decision booking here. Everything you could possibly need they have thought of including a coffee bar. The moment we walked in, it felt like home. The pictures are exactly as the home is, complete with large deck and a fire pit. Can’t wait to book again, the host was amazing and very accessible. Safety Harbor is a cute little town with a vibe of its own!

I grew up on a farm in Nashville TN. Raising horses, and goats, and going to fairs to show our Shorthorn cattle have occupied my earlier years. I am currently managing IT in a software company that has an office in the Tampa Bay Area. When I am not pounding on the keyboard, I involve myself in renovating houses, gardening, cooking, and entertaining friends and family.

My wife Ellen was born in China, a true city girl, her interests are more in art & Electrical Engineering. She came to the states to research high-voltage transmission, but I really think she came here to find me and my secret BBQ recipes ☺

We love to travel together and have been to Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Vancouver... Everywhere we go, we try to stay away from hotels, staying with locals is way more fun.

Ellen and I completely fell in love with Safety Harbor on our first visit. Safety Harbor is one of the most charming southern cities, It offers amazing natural beauty as well as superb restaurants, and cultural experiences. Best of all, the locals are the most friendly people we have ever met.

Casa la Cala is designed for a family fun time. Fully equipped kitchen fit for any gourmet cooking. We also have a Weber charcoal kettle grill for outdoor cooking.

The house is named “Casa la Cala” due to its Natural Inspiration including a peaceful creek and small lake, majestic live oak trees, all in your private yard.

Amazing local restaurants, pubs, and shops. Marina Park, which includes the Marina Pier, and the Tampa Bay waterfront are just a relaxing short stroll from your front door!

A walk/run/bike paradise - Marina Park also features a pedestrian and bike trail which provides an elevated path among the mangrove trees as you head north toward Philippe Park. Heading south on the path you will enjoy a beautiful view of Tampa Bay as it extends all the way to the Courtney Campbell Causeway beach and trail which goes across the bay to Tampa. Did we mention Philippe Park? Don’t miss it! It is amazingly beautiful, also on the Tampa Bay waterfront.
