The house is very comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the sun porch. The sound of the river was soothing. It was calm enough at one point for a swim. A bear walked by! Beds and rooms were very comfortable. The location was perfect for walking to attractions such as Anakeesta and restaurants. If you like fish, The Trout House is very good. The Owner was great at responding to questions.
Cozy cabin that is perfectly situated off of the main road through downtown Gatlinburg. Private and relaxing with an easy walk or hop onto the Trolley into town. Clean, conformable, easy check in and check out and great host.
Amazing cottage, with two nice bedrooms, a full kitchen, formal living room, glassed-in porch on the Little Pigeon River and strong wifi. Walking distance to all that Gatlinburg has to offer and very reasonably priced. Owner has strong communication, as well. A
We always enjoy our stay at Aspen House. Everything we needed was provided and clean as a pin. Very close to downtown, actually within walking distance. No fighting traffic. And the house is right on the Little Pigeon River.
Very clean and relaxing! Lots of space and the whole house was just so cute! Definitely a long walk if looking for walkability. We still had to drive and park to be in the main gatlinburg strip.
Excellent communication with the host before we arrived alleviated travel concerns, and the location just on the western edge of the tourist area made walking to dinner and dessert really easy.Individuals in our family are on the smaller size, but larger people or people with some disabilities may have problems with the configuration of the bathrooms. To enter the primary bathroom, one has to open the door, side shuffle into the bathroom between the bathroom cabinet, and then close the door. It felt a little tight for me (5'9'' & 170 lbs). The only other con that I can think of is that directly opposite of the creek/river is a hotel with balconies that look out onto the backyard. It makes you feel a little like you are on a stage when enjoying the sunroom that overlooks the river. There is a window covering that you can use if this makes you feel a little uneasy, but then you lose the beautiful view.Overall, we had a delightful time during our stay. There were all of the cooking appliances you would expect with a good selection of pots, pans, utensils, and ice maker (especially helpful on those hot days). Beds were comfortable and our younger daughter was happy enough with the sofa bed.
Beautiful older house in a great location with access to the river. Good size for 4 to 6 people, comfortable beds, and very clean. The only issue is that some of the electrical outlets are a little loose. Overall great value in walking distance of downtown.
Ruth's Aspen House is one of our fishing buddies' favorite places we have stayed. Easy access to the river with a set of stairs that leads to a nice walkway above the river. One of my friends was an 85-year-old veteran who loves to fish, but finds it hard to get down to the river in that area due to rugged terrain. He caught is limit easily. Thanks to Ruth providing us with a crock pot, which wasn't on the list of available kitchen items, we also were able to make dinner "slowly" all day and enjoy a hot meal after a hard day of fishing. Ruth was great at replying to all my questions. The perfect host! We'll be back next year.
Iâve stayed in numerous VRBOs and this one might be my favorite. This one didnât feel outdated to me at all. It felt like going to visit my grandmother. The decor is just perfect! This property had everything we needed. Plenty of room for everybody, great location, and a gorgeous view of the river. I would definitely stay here again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house was cute and cozy and we found the vintage decor very charming, like staying at grandmaâs house. The neighborhood was very quiet, the view of the river(and the geese!) was even better than expected and the location was convenient to everything. The walk into Gatlinburg wouldâve been a bit far for us, but the trolley stop was very close to the house. 10/10 would definitely recommend and we canât wait to go back again!
Beautiful home on a dead end street with a small river behind it. Very clean. The host communicated well and check in was easy. I highly recommend this fantastic cottage!
We had a really nice time at Aspen Cottage! Very relaxing, beautiful views, easy access to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge! We especially enjoyed the sunroom! Our only problem was learning to operate the TV remotes! But, weâre old!!! Highly recommend this property!
Both my friend and I have busy jobs and lives. This past weekend was a much-needed reprieve. The location was excellent, the home was immaculate and so comfy. The beds slept wonderful. Kitchen was well stocked. Loved the sunroom and outside area. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find a yummy chocolate cake waiting for us. We would definitely come again. Thank you so much Ruth and Yvonne for the wonderful stay.
We really needed a mountain getaway, yet close to downtown. This fit our needs perfectly! Woke up with the river next to us, and enjoyed watching the ducks playing joyfully in the river in the morning. It was a crowded weekend, but the cabin was quiet and we walked everywhere in town. We loved having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, very comfortable beds, and overall a wonderful experience !
The property was very clean and at a great location.
We really enjoyed our stay. Being able to walk to all the attractions we wanted to see in Gatlinburg and a short drive to Pigeon Forge with all it had to offer.
Because on the heavy rains we were unable to fish.
The location certainly had access for fishing on property.
This would be a must stay if we decide to return.
We (2 couples) had a great stay at this property. The location is walking distance into Gatlinburg with a trolley stop on the corner. The house is on the river with a big front yard. It is a bit outdated but very clean and has all that you need. You have to mindful of the bears by not leaving any food out or in your car.
Our cottage is ideally located to Gatlinburg. You can walk to town in 10-12 minutes or catch the trolley 2 blocks from the cottage. We are located right on the river so you can enjoy fishing off the back of the property or enjoy your first cup of coffee in the morning or favorite drink on the open patio in the evening.
