Stay in a Vintage Gatlinburg Motel! Now Pet Friendly!

The Fox Den is a 2 bedroom 2 bath Vintage Motel apartment. It was originally the owners house of the Fox Motel built in 1950s by our Grandparents that we have redone and converted to a nightly rental. An amazing location with less than a 1/4 mile walk to downtown Gatlinburg shops and restaurants with a Trolley stop in front of the building. Watch the Gatlinburg parades for Christmas and July 4th from the patio at the front of our plaza! The building was designed by Hubert Bebb (a student of Frank Lloyd Wright) and is one of the few remaining vintage motels in Gatlinburg. It has been remodeled for your comfort while keeping as much original as possible to give you the experience of 'Olde Gatlinburg Charm'. Decorated with a vintage/boho/eclectic theme, local arts and crafts, and rustic touches make this a unique rental. Fox (of Cherokee origin) was our Grandparent's last name and we've kept their legacy of hospitality intact by continuing to welcome guests to our place of happy memories!

This home was walking distance to everything that downtown Gatlinburg had to offer but far enough away that it was still quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. We were able to bring the pups along for our outdoor hiking adventures which was another major plus! The house was a lot bigger than it looked from the outside and was super cozy and CLEAN. It had everything you needed if you planned on dining in including coffee pot and coffee. Such a neat place overall. I highly recommend a stay in this unconventional little house! I can't wait to book our next trip.

The location was great! We walked to all the activities downtown. With 3 kids it was an easy trek. There is a trolley stop right outside but we couldn’t figure out the schedule so we were sad to not get to ride. The home was fine and had everything we needed. The downfalls were that the hot water only lasted for about 10 mins so we had to space out our showers, which for 5 people was something that had to be planned. The back bedroom had a decent sized gap at the bottom of the door that let in cold air and small insects so I covered it with the rug in that room (not a big issue except the girls that didn’t like the spider). And the sad part was when we were hanging at the house we were all separate because the living room wouldn’t fit us all, due to the layout I understand why the furniture was selected but I’m a mom that likes to hang with my kids and watch tv together and we couldn’t do that. The overall stay was great, we had a great time and the location made it that much better.

This property was perfect for us with adult children and a baby. The location is great on the parkway. Only 1 step to enter only a couple feet away from where you park. Scott was great at answering questions and keeping us updated. Will definitely stay at this location again.

Nice place to stay for 4 of us. One of us snores and had her own room, the other likes to watch tv while in bed and had her own room, another room with daybed for other friend and I took the couch. 2 bathrooms (and showers) worked out great! Had to bring our own iron. Not sure if the overhead light fixture in living room works ,we couldn't figure out how to turn it on. Really no complaints! Great location.

We loved this cozy little cottage. It was clean & homey and quiet. Perfect for my husband, myself and our adult son. We would definitely book again when we vacation in Gatlinburg.

Great little historic property, conveniently located to everything! Walkability is key in Gatlinburg, and the facilities were great here. Easy check-in, consistent communication with the PM. Great value, too!

We had a wonderful time at Fox Place. My parents ans I stayed from Sunday until Thursday. When we got there we were very happy with how clean everything was, how stocked it was, and how inviting the place was. It is very convenient to downtown Gatlinburg, but far enough out to where you didn't have to deal with the business of downtown. I even got to see a bear one evening. Scott is a wonderful host and very responsive to any questions we had. We love that this place was pet friendly, since this was one of our main needs. We will stay at Fox Place again when we come to the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area.

We had a great stay at the Fox Place! Perfect location, lots of space for us, kids and dogs. So nice to catch the trolley right outside, head nearby to explore downtown Gatlinburg then come home and make dinner in the kitchen. Loved it! I would suggest, however, that the owner get rid of the rugs. There was a slight scent of dog when we came in so I rolled up the rugs and didn’t use them. I know how dogs like to scent when they smell other dogs so I’m guessing that had happened at some point. No biggie. Overall a wonderful stay!

Amazing lil slice of historic hotel converted to a VRBO. Very nice inside lots of space to spread out but still homey. Very clean. Close to town. We were able to walk into town, but it is still far enough off the main strip so it wasnt noisy. Nice lil green space on the side of cabin for dog walking. Good lights on the outside to light up door etc. We had a couple issues with front door lock, but the owner was nice and VERY quick to respond (even though it was very late) We would definitely go back.

I stayed here with my parrot. Once my family saw the house, I had a different visitor stay with me for a few of the nights. It was wonderful to have the extra room. My nephews loved the arcade game the best! We all enjoyed using the house as a resting place while visiting downtown. I wish I’d booked the entire week of my vacation. It’s a quiet and cozy house with lots of beds and everything you need to enjoy your stay. Quick communication and helpful owner. I only needed a vacuum so I could clean better before leaving.

Great place for Dollywood

We used it for a place to stay to visit Dollywood. Its a short drive and a great area to walk and see the sites.

The location was great, just a few minutes to walk to the main strip! The cottage was very clean, and the AC was great after being out in the heat all day. The owner was quick to respond to questions we had. We even had a bear pass by the back of the building one day! I will definitely be looking to stay here again next time I visit the Smoky Mountains!

Unique Stay

Loved our stay at this unique property! Great communication with the host who is kind, accommodating, and helpful! Location was perfect to all things fun to do in and around Gatlinburg! We (Robin, April, Scott and Rodney) are the grandchildren of Amos and Murrell Reagan Fox, the original owners of the Fox Motel. Our Grandmother Murrell Reagan Fox is a direct descendant of Martha Jane Huskey Ogle, the original founder of White Oak Flats (Gatlinburg). We inherited part of the property from our mothers (Kathy Daniels and Libby Smith) and purchased the remainder from our Aunt Frances Shambaugh. Frances is well known in Gatlinburg Craft Community for her weaving. We have so many wonderful memories of Gatlinburg and Fox Motel growing up and are so excited to be able to share this special property!
