This was a place close to the hospital where my husband and I could rest while our premie daughter was in NICU. It was comfortable and had everything we needed.
The family real like the place. Really beautiful and super convenient with everything you need in a walking distance. Will stay again next time we come back.
My stay at the property was great. Convenient walking distance to state Capitol and restaurants. check in was easy and the place is very clean. Parking isn't the best which is why gave 4 of 5 stars on location/neighborhood. However, the options are not terrible.
We loved being right downtown with access to everything we wanted. The apartment was very comfortable and supplied with all we needed (even soy sauce!). Great beds so good sleep. I would definitely stay there again.
The property is exactly as advertised. Very clean, well stocked and we felt secure in the unit. The location was perfect for exploring downtown and all it has to offer.
The property is a nice small two bedroom apartment. A lot of very nice restaurants are within a block or so. There is a nice riverside park two blocks away.
This apartment had all the necessaries and a very equipped kitchen. It was clean, beds were confortables and it was at an excellent location. Restaurants and shopping stores are around it. The host was very responsive and available to answers questions.
This is our second stay in this clean, spacious apartment. There are a variety of restaurants nearby, and you're about a ten-minute walk to the Willamette campus. Check-in and out are easy and uncomplicated. We were happy to return and will be back again.
The host was super helpful the few times we needed her. The apartment's location in the center of the city was great for walking, shopping and dining. And absolutely nothing was amiss or missing in the apartment. Best of all Angela was super helpful and accommodating. Maybe our best VRBO experience ever.
Stayed in Salem for a week to visit my FIL. Loved the apartment! Itâs location is wonderful! I few blocks from a riverfront park, steps away from shops, coffee, drinks, and food, and a free parking garage just through the alley! Angela made checking in super easy would videos of the checkin process too. 10/10 would highly recommend!!
We were so close to stop many restaurants and bars so we could just go outside and pick somewhere to eat. We drove about 40 min to Silver Falls park so hikes were accessible by this location too. The apartment was clean and well stocked from headache pills to shampoo and conditioner. We watched Netflix on TV at night to wind down. I would highly recommend this apartment if you're staying in Salem.
The property was clean and comfortable and it is on a good location, within walking distance of coffee shops and restaurants. However, it is very noisy at night in the bedroom facing the street. It was very hard to get any sleep as the noise did not stop until 2 am. We did try the ear plugs provided by the host but that was not enough to drown out the noise.
The apartment is a very nice place to stay for a family! The city is very alive during the day with many places to visit. At night, the vibe changes and becomes louder. We were back in by 730 but could hear the noise. If we knew that the parking structure was not safe at night we would not have parked there because when we woke up Saturday morning, our window of our van was busted out. Truly bummer of our trip, we no longer felt safe and left early. Salem is a beautiful city to stay for the day but not sure if we will stay through the night again.
GREAT location in the heart of downtown Salem. The property is basically an older style two-bedroom apartment with great high ceilings and two huge windows in the living room. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom and show was terrific. It's definitely an older unit, but very comfortable and clean. The unit also had a washer (very old. needs to be replaced) and a dryer that came in handy. The owners live across the hall. We met them and they couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Communication and customer service throughout our stay was top notch. I would stay there again.
We stayed here while selling at the Salem Art Festival. It was only 1 mile from the show site and the parking garage was a convenient place to park for free. The apartment is super clean and comfortable with everything you need and no extra clutter. We made all our own meals and were so happy we did not have to buy staples like butter, mayo or spices. The place is very well stocked with all cooking supplies. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!
We had such a good visit! The location was perfect. The property was clean, bright, and Cheerful! And the property manager was kind and responsive. We will be back!

I am a native Salemite and Oregonian! Born and raised right here, "this is my town"! I have talked my long time friends into letting me open their old nannies apartment up for people to stay in, another great space in the heart of the city for folks that want and need to be downtown! Voila, here we are off on a whole new adventure and loving it!
The Christopher Paulus building is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places in the United States. The building was built in 1917 by local bar owner, Christopher Paulus. Mr Paulus fell in love with a young Salem woman from a good family who refused to marry Mr Paulus as long as he owned and operated a bar room. Mr Paulus eventually sold his bar and built this building to satisfy his soon to be wife. The building has housed several businesses on the ground floor and until 1992 the upper floor was used as storage. The building was purchased by Carole Smith and Eric Kittleson in 1991 and fully renovated by 1992, when they moved into the residential space on the upper floor. The upper floor consisted of a large loft for the Smith/Kittleson's and their two small children, and they built an apartment across the hall for the children's nanny. After the children grew, the Smith/Kittlesons rented the apartment to local citizens until 2018 then it became a short term rental.
Experience what it is like to live in the center of a busy and successful downtown, and in a historic building that has been part of Salem's history for over 100 years.
Look out of the large front windows and enjoy watching the downtown activity, walk down the stairs and find 40 eating establishments within 4 blocks, shop at over 100 stores, see a movie (2 blocks away), or visit one of our many tap houses for a refreshing local brew. Everything is just steps outside your door and the owners take delight into equipping the apartment for your comfort.
