à propos de cet hébergement
La Marinera, beautiful apartment with Terrace, near the Beach
This beautiful flat is located in the old town of Barbate, on a pedestrian street lined with flower pots and flowers. It is located on the first floor of a typical family home with access via a private alleyway.
La Marinera is a contemporary-style property, airy and bright. It has an open-plan kitchen leading to the dining and living area, which opens onto a sunny terrace equipped with sun loungers and outdoor furniture. A perfect space for sunbathing, enjoying a good breakfast or dining al fresco on Barbate evenings.
It has a double bedroom with a 150 cm bed, a large window overlooking the street, a built-in wardrobe and a spacious en-suite bathroom, also with an exterior view.
It is very well equipped with kitchenware, bed linen and towels. It includes free internet, air conditioning, Smart TV, mosquito nets on the windows and ceiling fans in all rooms. We provide a parasol and beach chairs.
IN BARBATE
La Marinera is very close to the river and only a five-minute walk from the Virgen del Carmen beach on the seafront promenade. Past the fishing port and the marina, we find another beach, La Hierbabuena, a beautiful wild beach near the cliffs where you can surf.
Barbate is located in a magical and privileged enclave. The Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet at the mouth of the Strait of Gibraltar between two continents. On clear days, you can see the blue mountains of Morocco and at sunset The lights of Tangier appear opposite the beach.
It is a town of seafarers. A fishing village whose existence has been based for centuries on tuna fishing using the ancient technique of Almadraba, something unique and impressive to witness.
Barbate is a cheerful, open and somewhat surreal town that moves to the rhythm of the prevailing winds under the protection of its Virgin of Carmen, the Star of the Seas. A town with deep roots in flamenco singing and dancing that passionately cares for its festivals and traditions.
GASTRONOMY:
Tuna is the star of Barbate, but there is also a wide variety of fish and seafood, and we must not forget to try the Retinto beef and the organic veal from La Janda, as well as the excellent quality local cured meats and cheeses.
There is a wide variety of tapas bars within walking distance. Very close to the flat, we have La Peña Flamenca, which offers flamenco performances on Fridays, and La Tienda de Strazza. We also recommend El Camarón, La Bodega del Relojero, La Taberna de Abelardo and La venta El Paquete.
For lunch or dinner, there is a good selection of restaurants such as Variopinto, the Italian Espresso Love, La Peña del AtĂșn, the Japanese Yoko, and the famous and more luxurious Campero
If you fancy a coffee or a drink in the afternoon or want to go out at night, there are lively bars on the seafront promenade or the romantic Embarcadero garden.
However, the real gastronomic experience is to go shopping at the small market and cook the fresh produce at home. The market itself is a world unto itself. It offers meat, fish, seasonal vegetables, Arabic pastries and spices of the highest quality.
To finish off your shopping, you can have a glass of wine at the outdoor stalls and try some new dishes, such as the Peruvian fusion cuisine at El 42. Other traditional options include cold meats, pork rinds and cheeses at La Charcutasca. Don't miss the popular ChurrerĂa, which opens early in the morning.
SURROUNDINGS AND ACTIVITIES
From Barbate, you can go hiking or cycling along the river through Las Marismas Natural Park, where migratory birds rest on their way to Africa, explore the dense pine forests of La Breña Natural Park, home to the world's largest palomar (bird sanctuary) dating back to the 18th century, and, of course, stroll along its beaches.
Seven kilometres away is Caños de Meca, where you can watch beautiful sunsets behind the Trafalgar lighthouse. The lively village of Zahara de los Atunes is the same distance away. The picturesque white village of Vejer de la Frontera is located above, behind the cliffs, and on the nearby coast are Conil, El Palmar and Bolonia with their impressive Roman ruins and the museum of the ancient city of Baelo Claudia. It is worth spending a day visiting the provincial capital, Cadiz.
These towns have an immense natural and cultural heritage. They were inhabited by different civilisations, Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and Visigoths, and they maintain that melting pot of cultures and the basis of their natural resources, salted fish and tuna fishing. In summer, the coast is filled with lights and music. There are numerous flamenco concerts and jazz festivals throughout the area, as well as magical events such as La VelĂĄ de Barbate and Vejer, with their narrow streets lit by candles.
All these towns are connected by the Eurovelo 8 cycle route, which begins in CĂĄdiz and ends in Cyprus.
In Barbate, there is a bicycle rental company, Breña Bike, which also rents electric bikes, and a tourist boat, Marine Atlante, which offers various activities, including visits to the almadraba during the tuna fishing season.
HOW TO GET TO BARBATE
The nearest airport is Jerez de la Frontera XRY, 80 km away.
Gibraltar Airport is 91 km away.
Seville Airport is 167 km away.
Malaga Airport is 198 km away.
From these towns, you can take buses to Barbate.
You can also go to the city of CĂĄdiz, from where numerous buses depart daily for Barbate.
The best way to get around the coast and surrounding area is to come by car or hire one, but this is not essential.
We hope you have a wonderful time!
