The location was great for small kids to walk to the beach. The outdoor shower and bathroom immediately when you enter from the beach were both fantastic. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms had space and good water pressure. We enjoyed having the high chair and pack and play but would have loved to see a gate for the top of the stairs. Wonderful porches for watching the water though the outdoor seating was not very comfy. Adequate space to eat and sit but a little tight on the main floor for moving around when everyone was inside. Plenty of dishes and cups were very nice.
If you have a small one be aware there are many many exposed wires and cords for all the tvs and such.
If you wish to go to a beach with fewer people (no huge condos) and lots of shells this is your location. Everything did seem to close down (accept Beach Planet) about 8 PM EST no sure if that was due to COVID or common place. There was a convenience type store very close, a fresh seafood place that you could get either food to cook or pre-cook items, and a tourist shop for towels, t-shirts etc. The town and beach had a lot of bugs, I mean it is outdoors, but bring the bug spray. They let you have bonfires on the beach, which we will take advantage of if we return. Could not find any firewood.
The house â the view was great. The house looked like it did in the ad. The beach was literally a handful of steps away. There were plenty of shells to pick up if you like collecting shells. It did have decent cable and WIFI. There was a dart board and game table. The weather was so great we did not make great use of this but it was there. I believe there was also a WII and a handful of books.
The bad: We were not there long so we did not call maintenance but ... if you wish to cook in the home most of the pots and pans need to be tossed. Lose handles, flaking non-stick, warped pans, etc. One coffee pot would not work the other tasted like someone cleaned it but never got all the cleaner out. I ran 6 plus pots of hot water through it before giving up. The stove top works fine the oven has issues.. We cook a lot at home so it was not skill issue, we finally decided the temperature was off in the oven. We cooked fries for over an hour we increased temperature several times just to get them warm enough to eat. The hot water heater kept going out. It threw the breaker. The first time we thought they had shut it off on purpose and forgot to switch it back on⊠the second time it happen we decided it was a bigger issue. The electrical did not work on some of the plugs (maybe a tripped breaker or switch)? Dryer and washer were fine. Toilet on first floor would not always flush. The third floor bathroom tub drained very slowly. You ended up with ankle deep water by the end of your shower. There are some boards on the third floor balcony that need to be screwed down before someone trips. I was clean but older and needing repairs gave it a ânot so clean feelâ. We will probably visit the area again but will look for a different rental. Again we did not call it in⊠they may have come right away to repair everything but we were only going to be there a few days
We had a wonderful and relaxing time staying at Cape San Blas. The location is unique and we had our own little cove with a handful of houses.. Being so close to the waves crashing was really nice. We loved it. It was helpful to have a short walk down to the beach and back to the house, especially for my older parents. The view was amazing each night.
My 2 concerns with the house were the deck and AC. We all got splinters. The AC seemed to do what it wanted despite changing temperatures.
My other concern was the lack of communication from the realty company about a boil water alert. We signed into an app to keep communication on the rental. We were alerted that Piggly Wiggly was closing early, but not alerted with a boil water alert.
All in all, we had a perfect break and enjoyed the small island. It was a very easy drive into Port St. Joe.
Great views, location a little busier because of the condos around the house. Nothing beats Cape San Blas if youâre looking for a relaxing time at the ocean.
Wonderful house, great location. Sunset over the water every evening! 3 true master bedrooms, all with a view of the ocean. Water was warm enough (just barely) to get in late in November. Kitchen had a new range/oven. There was a grill and beach gear in the garage (chairs, boogie boards). Thanks!
