This is my second timeâŠ. Wouldâve been my third but it was booked last year. The cape is beautiful and if you want to get away from everything⊠this is the place. I recommend you make a list for everything you may need cause itâs a drive to anywhere but if you are prepared you wonât want to leave. I brought my jet skis and had a ball out back even had a bunch of dolphins swim with me
It was the coolest house on the cape! So much character! Plenty of space - locations great- close to state park and walking distance to come heads. We loved everything about the house
A great beach house that doesnât look like your typical beach house which makes it unique and special! The outdoor decks are awesome, with so much room and great furniture for everyone. Of course, the sunsets are spectacular from the upper deck.We saw so many dolphins playing in front of the house and found some great keepsake shells.Communication with the host was easy and any questions we had were answered in a very timely manner. We look forward to returning again to this property.
We stay in a lot of VRBOâs. This property was a rare treat. It is built from a lot of repurposed materials with a New Orleans feel. We loved it! It has great access to the beach, plenty of deck space with high-quality furniture. With it tucked down a long driveway it is an extremely private space. It has great access to the beach and the emerald water and white sand beach makes it an amazing place to stay. Would definitely come back again!
Very nice location. The house is a delightful surprise when you see it. We enjoyed our stay. Only downside is how dirty it is. Needs a good cleaning. Def. Recommend
This was our second stay at this property, and we loved it. The kitchen has all amenities needed to cook a great meal. We grilled shrimp and steaks on the grill. The beds and bedding are high end, and comfortable. The wrap around decks are a beautiful feature, and our group enjoyed the hot tub. The beach location is spectacular, and we loved taking bike rides into the state park which is close to the property. Thanks for another great stay, and we hope to visit again.
The house is amazing. So different and so interesting. We loved the location. Very private. So much outside space. Fortunately we had a nice ocean breeze so did not have any problem with bugs. The house had everything we needed. But if you have dogs, please bring your own dog towels. We look forward to coming back.
Unique and unconventional beach home. We enjoyed the solitude, weather and great location. Great communication with property managers when we had a slight issue with ice maker. The owner sent his own maintenance man who fixed the ice maker in a timely manner. A nice bonus to have the maintenance man give us a great historical lesson on the home! Thanks Ray.
Great place for families. We were a group of 12 and were comfortable. The architecture and style was unique and stood out from the other houses. Loved that it was pet friendly. Lots of outdoor hydrants to rinse sand off. Unfortunately the crows nest needed repair so we were unable to use it since someone broke the door out but the property manager was quick to respond and offer repair. The beach access was fantastic. Beware there is No elevator and lots of stairs but we felt they were manageable just a struggle with coolers etc. One microwave did not work but we used the other. If I were suggest one thing it would be to install stairs from the main level deck up to the second level deck. We love the Cape!
The most beautiful views from multiple gigantic decks! We spent most of our time on the upper deck staring at the ocean or laying in the hammock. Having the beach just steps away was awesome as well. We stayed this spring break with one other family. The house is absolutely gigantic and there is plenty of room. The house has some new owners that are making some updates. Iâm sure when they get finished, it will be absolutely gorgeous. It is a really neat eclectic home- owned by former art gallery owners, so there are some pretty cool touches... like doors that are decoration that donât open or go anywhere. the kids thought the house was really cool the best hide and seek hiding spots youâve ever seen for sure !! Perfect for two families to stay, the huge private beach area in front of the house was priceless.
This is a great house, but it really needs an elevator.. unloading and loading is a bear of an effort with all the stairs. The upholstered furniture âŠespecially on the main floor has seen better days. Lots of pots and pans, but most have been abused and are not in good shape. Small amenities that I am used to were not provided. No hair dryers, no bath soap, and only 1 towel set per person.. AgainâŠgreat house , but just understand there are some drawbacks to renting.
On our way to the jewel of the cape I was notified of Beach restoration by our rental. I was assured we would have access to the beach. The house is simply amazing when we got up to the deck we heard the tractors then went to go on the beach mounds of sand about 6 ft tall right on our walkway, my elderly mom couldnât climb that hill, very disappointed when letting the property manager know she did apologize but brushed it off. When a major restoration is taken place they let the property owners know in advance. The house should not have been rented out during this time seeing it stated âprivate beach access â. Very disappointed seeing we drove all the way from Orlando and my family in Alabama met us and couldnât even get up the 6ft sand mound toward the beach. It was a mountain climbing trip instead of relaxation!!!!
Perfect location/house. Sorely missing some necessary items
Property is unique with cool furnishings/design. Wrap around porch & decks/boardwalks are awesome. However, inside stairs (especially metal spiral staircase) is unsafe for children. There was one wooden gate available which didnât fit anywhere. We were constantly on edge watching the toddlers.
The beach was nice & private & much wider than other areas.
Upon preparing for professional family photos on the beach, we could not find a single blow dryer! Luckily we had brought an iron as we asked before arrival. We didnât think we had to worry about a hairdryer!
Also, how does a rental of this price range not have an ice machine in the refrigerator?? Very inconvenient to drive to the Trading Post multiple times for ice.
Also, water from tap is very warm and again, no cold water dispenser from fridge! The water osmosis filtration unit which was boasted about on framed information in the house did not work! Another disappointmentâŠ.
The oven is not working properly. One day it took us 3 hours to try to get hot enough temps for a cobblerâŠanother morning, 2 hours to get a pan of biscuits done:
Very frustrating! The top burners do not seem to have a low flame & many food items scorched due to high heatâŠ
All in all we had a nice stay but it would have been much easier if the above referenced items had been present. Ty
Very unique place with lots to do. Enjoyed the hot tub and pool table a lot. Plenty of room to explore and enjoy the ambience. The top floor was a very peaceful room with awesome view where we enjoyed playing games. Loved
it was pet friendly. Outside furniture was very well constructed and comfortable. Plenty of tables and nice chairs right at the end of the boardwalk for a comfortable view of the gulf.
Could have been cleaner on arrival. Dusty house ,dirty counters annd island table not cleaned as well as pots and pans. The only negative.
Overall loved the place. And would stay again.
Great house, great location.
Needs some TLC but the bones are rock solid.
Internal lighting can be frustrating but it works once you decipher the instructions.
Hot tub never worked.
The house was amazing. We had everything we needed. Best stocked kitchen for all your cooking needs. The beach was fairly secluded with no one by us for a quarter mile either way.

Sitting on a low density area of the north Cape San Blas beaches, Jewel of the Cape sits among a few other houses with a private beach boardwalk that connects to the 1st living level of the home.
This property is a very eclectic experience on Cape San Blas! Some old timers call it "the steamboat house", but we call it Jewel of the Cape! The home is an ornate recreation of a very "New Orleans" property, with wrought iron railings, a brick floor, lots of wood and reclaimed doors, etc. You don't just visit Jewel of the Cape to stay there...you go there to enjoy an unusual opportunity to experience the New Orleans vibe at the pristine beach at the north end of Cape San Blas!
