Leapings Cottage - luxury holiday cottage in Yorkshire Set in the Yorkshire Countryside this quirky cottage is a perfect luxury holiday for a family of 12. Believed to be an old rope makers cottage this property has a fascinating history. Running along side the Trans Pennine Trail where walking and cycling can be enjoyed.
With the original cottage comprising of a large ground floor living kitchen. The cottage is split between the old farm cottage and what was the farm buildings with a below ground room creating a link between the two. Please note this property is not suitable for anyone with limited mobility due to multiple levels in side and outside the property. Next door to this cottage is our Weavers cottage which can be booked alongside this cottage for larger groups of up to 20 guests
We booked Leapings Cottage and Weevers Cottage together so we could have a long overdue family get together.
There were 20 of us and the houses were perfect.
We spent most of the time in Leapings Cottage - the outdoor and indoor space fit us all in to eat and socialise perfectly. The lounge is ENORMOUS!
The bedrooms/en suites are all beautiful, the games rooms fantastic, the hot tubs lovely.
Customer service was great too - really responsive when I wanted to change the configuration of some of the bedrooms (from king to twin beds). Lisa who owns the cottages really has thought of everything.
Thanks so much!
The cottage was perfect. Loads of communal space. Struggled a little with thermostats but had all the amenities we could have asked for.. Gorgeous location, as new condition.
We had a wonderful stay. So spacious, clean and very comfortable. Great facilities and lovely outside dining space with clean hot tub. Loved every minute. Thank you
Our group stayed here in September 2024 and had a wonderful week. We were met on arrival by Nick and shown the key features of the cottage. The property is spacious, well equipped and finished to a high standard. Rooms are all lovely and the hot tub was nice and warm. Location is great, there is plenty of parking available onsite and you are just one mile from the local town Penistone (and itâs Tesco!) but far enough away to feel secluded. Also you are just on the edge of the Peak District so can enjoy all that it has to offer. Overall this cottage comes highly recommended.
A family get together. We rented this cottage and the weavers cottage next door. 10 adults and 8 children aged 4 to 15.
Beautifully decorated and furnished with good quality bed linen and towels. Well equipped.
Could not recommend for children as all but 1 bedroom is situated in another building which is accessed via an underground passage. The entertainment areas and communal areas are all in the main building. We didn't feel comfortable leaving the kids in bed so far away even with monitors so a parent took it in turns to stay with the children at the annexed building on an evening which was a shame.
The stairs are beautiful throughout but they are hard wooden open tread so difficult for smaller children and older adults!
There are no flat grassed areas so playing games was not possible.
We could not find any operating instructions for any appliance other than the music speakers!
Overall a beautiful large place to stay if you are able bodied adults and can afford it as it is expensive for a family but not for lots of adults
A great house for 12 of us to spend New Year together. We had a few little hiccups with the fridge freezer and the Wi-Fi going off at midnight but the owners were on hand and readily available to help. There is plenty of living space to spread out and the location is near to the Peak District for our walks. The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is in the vicinity too. We cooked at the house every evening and on the last night went to a pub recommended by the owners which was fab.
