Maria and JoĂŁo were such great hosts. They were very responsive with any questions or concerns we had as first timers in Lisbon.
We had a bit of trouble finding the apartment and did have to ask for a picture of the front of the building which helped immediately.
Overall the place is beautiful, safe, and clean. They even had some wine in the unit for purchase from their home town and it was the perfect thing to see when walking in the door after hiking up the hill to get there.
Also just a note the vaulted room upstairs youâre not able stand up in due to the height of the ceilings. Still great but was surprised because the photos make it hard to tell.
Lovely area and a little more off the beat and path but some great restaurants and markets very close. And the Santa Apolonia train station is very close which made travelling around super easy.
Communication with the host was very good. Check-in was easy, and they provided us with extra trash bags when requested. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and there was a well equipped kitchen. However, the flat and building are in some disrepair. There was mold throughout, mainly in the bathroom. The flat also smelled of damp and cigarettes from a smoker on the bottom floor. At times, the kitchen and bathroom smelled of sewage. While the flat is a little far out from the city center, there are some cute cafes and restaurants at the bottom of the hill. Overall, the location was good for exploring Lisbon and the hosts communicative, but expected a higher end property based on the listing.
This rental unit is fantastic and basically all remodeled. It's well stocked and the host responded quick to any questions/concerns. Good wi-fi. Washer in unit but like most Eu rentals, only an air drying rack. We did not use the TV.
Should be noted that staircase up to the unit is super steep and pretty narrow. I mean very steep and a tough climb if hauling suitcases.
Only other negative is the water venting can be a bit smelly in the kitchen or on the roof top balcony at times. This was only occasionally so wasn't a big issue for us.
It's on the Eastside of town but an easy walk up and over to the tram. Uber is cheap in Lisbon so we used that to get to some of the further out attractions.
There are a few restaurants/coffee shops and markets a short walk from the unit in either direction.
Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
