What a perfect little Cornish cottage this is. Set in a charming hamlet nestled in glorious countryside youâre just a mile above Mousehole and the spectacular West Cornwall coastline.
Trezeal is a delightful two-bedroom granite cottage full of character with stylish interiors flowing out to the stunning Mediterranean gardens with plenty of private sitting areas and a fire pit for alfresco summer nights. It's perfectly situated for exploring West Cornwall with Mousehole, Sennen, Marazion and St Ives all in easy reach.
Walking in from the front garden the living room is a bright space with a large squidgy Loaf sofa and wood burner, perfect for cosy evenings all year round. When the weather sets in, thereâs no place better to snuggle up with a glass of wine and a good book by the fire.
Through to the hand-built kitchen you catch the views across the open countryside and itâs a cookâs delight with the large Smeg Range cooker. The dining area is bespoke and is a great spot for memorable meals.
Upstairs the two lovely bedrooms both have VI-spring pocket sprung mattresses which are sure to give you a good nights rest. One is a king size and the other one a super king that can be made up as twins, you choose. The rear bedroom has glorious views down to the sea in the distance which you can enjoy from the window seat which has a fully opening window bringing the outside in.
Heading outside, the enchanting garden features tropical and Mediterranean planting with a large dining table for eating out and a fire pit for story telling as the sun goes down. Itâs a great place for lazing about and after sunset, you can do some serious stargazing across Cornwallâs famed dark skies.
LOCATION
Trezeal is situated in a small hamlet called Sheffield set above the coast in lovely countryside a mile or so from Newlyn and Mousehole. The idyllic village of Paul, on the way to Mousehole is within walking distance and there is a great local pub there, The Kings Arms, just remember your torch if coming back late. Mousehole is Cornwall at its absolute best and it's a popular destination. Itâs obvious to see why with the prettiest of harbours and excellent restaurants, tea shops, pubs and galleries tucked away down its higgledy-piggledy lanes.
Youâre in the heart of far west of Cornwall at Trezeal and being well located, with private parking and a well-served local bus stop nearby, it's easy to explore.
Things are different here, we're surrounded on three sides by the sea, and it has a strong influence on our lives. We are spoilt for beaches. Sennen Cove with its glorious surfing, Marazion overlooking St Michaels Mount and Porthcurno with the iconic Minack Theatre built into the cliffs are all within easy reach. The working fishing harbour of Newlyn and bustling town of Penzance are less than 10 minutesâ drive away. Slightly further is St Ives, home to the Tate St Ives Gallery, the Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden, several fantastic beaches and plenty of shops and restaurants. Itâs well worth a visit and we recommend taking the little train from St Erth, which travels along the coast right into the town. Itâs breath-taking.
LIVING
Through the front door you enter the living room, which centres around the wood burner (in season we will leave you enough logs to get you going for a night or two) and has a squishy three-seater Loaf sofa and an armchair, both set around a stunning handmade coffee table. Over the fireplace is a large 48â internet ready flat screen TV perfect for movie nights.
COOKING & EATING
The kitchen at Trezeal is equipped with all you need to cook up a feast. It's handmade and at the centre is a large Smeg electric range cooker with a five-ring hob and two electric ovens. The dining area with the hand-built table and pew is a cosy social space for eating in.
SLEEPING
The bedrooms are both on the first floor.
BEDROOM 1: With wonderful views across fields to the sea in the distance, you can sit on the window seat taking in the lovely vista. Youâll sleep soundly in its king size VI-spring pocket-sprung mattress. There is a small freestanding wardrobe and a TV for lazy mornings in bed.
BEDROOM 2: Facing the front it's a peaceful room with a super king size zip and link bed that can also be made up as twins. It also has a VI-spring pocket-sprung mattress for a great nightâs rest. There is open hanging as well as a chest of drawers.
BATHING
The bathroom, on the ground floor, has stunning tiles and a bath with overhead shower, basin, WC and heated towel rail. Weâll supply fluffy bath towels, just remember to bring your own beach towels.
OUTSIDE
You walk up to Trezeal past the pretty front garden and can access the gorgeous rear garden from the parking area or through the kitchen hall. Itâs an enclosed, private, south facing garden and the back door leads through the landscaped gardens past a romantic dining area to the rear where there is a tucked away bench, which is a fantastic spot to sit with a cup of tea and survey the views. There is a Weber BBQ and garden games (Boules and Quoits) and an outside tap and washing area for cleaning off messy dogs and surfers!
