This lovely two-bedroom converted barn is a real home-from-home with countryside views in an idyllic location. Open the doors and you instantly feel relaxed in this quiet rural hamlet in an area of outstanding natural beauty high above Gwenver beach. It’s a ten-minute walk down to one of West Cornwall's most stunning beaches with some of the best surfing in Cornwall and with Sennen Cove nearby you are spoilt for choice. Providing comfort and space, Swallow is the ideal location for an escape for two or family holidays at any time of the year.
Entering into the sociable and homely open plan dining area to the front and kitchen to the rear of the barn, you can make the most of the open space that leads out to the garden at the back through the stable door. Your four-legged friends will be in their element if you choose to bring them along with plenty of walks and dog friendly beaches on the door stop.
There are two bedrooms (please see details below), kitchen & dining area and bathroom on the ground floor. With an expansive living room upstairs, there is space for everyone to relax and enjoy being together. The lawned garden has views across the fields and across the valley at the back and there is a bench to the front to enjoy a morning cuppa before heading out for the day. It’s a place to enjoy the best the west has to offer in a rural location, close to the beach and within easy reach of many places to visit during your stay.
LOCATION
Tregiffian Veor is a small, peaceful hamlet of converted farm buildings and cottages next to a small working farm. You are set high above one of West Cornwall's finest beaches, Gwenver and it’s a dramatic area in terms of beauty with some of the most spectacular coastal walks in West Cornwall on your doorstep. Sennen Cove is a short drive away with two great surf schools, beach bar and good local pub. Further afield it's an easy drive to Penzance, Mousehole and St Ives which are all worth a visit. Keen walkers can enjoy the footpath to Cape Cornwall one way and to Land’s End and beyond in the other direction.
LIVING
The stylish spacious living room is on the first floor and it’s the ideal place for relaxing, watching a movie or gathering together to enjoy a board game after a day of exploring. It’s converted from the attic space so watch your head with the characterful low ceiling! There are two comfortable three-seater sofas and a Smart TV.
For working holidays or simply penning a postcard home there’s a desk and chair. Open the Velux windows and breath in the sea air, or gaze over the fields.
COOKING & EATING
The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast. There’s an electric 4-ring hob, oven and grill, integrated fridge and views over the garden. The breakfast bar makes the kitchen a wonderfully social space, opening onto the dining area. If you’d like a special event catered for, do ask, we have some superb contacts.
SLEEPING
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor.
MASTER BEDROOM: Super comfortable king bed with bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.
SECOND BEDROOM: This bedroom has a zip and link king sized bed that can be split into twins (2'6 singles) on request. Just let us know your preference. There is a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.
BATHING
The family bathroom is on the ground floor off the kitchen area and has a shower over the bath, WC and basin. There are two heated towel rails to keep fluffy bath towels toasty.
OUTSIDE
Accessed through the kitchen at the rear of the cottage via the stable door is a lovely garden that enjoys the morning sun. It is an elevated (two feet) lawned garden. It’s a super spot for whiling away the evenings with a sundowner or to enjoy an alfresco breakfast in the morning sun. The outside tap is perfect for washing off muddy dogs and sandy wetsuits.
USEFUL TO KNOW...
PARKING: There is parking for one car in the shared front courtyard. Be aware the lane up to Tregiffian may be rough and not suitable for a low-slung sports car. Please drive with caution in bad weather.
WI-FI: Very fast (up to 137 mbps) broadband means you can stay connected. There is also phone reception and 4G at the house.
HEATING: There is gas central heating to keep you warm and cosy during the cooler months.
PETS: Two well-behaved dogs are welcome at £35 each per week/short break.
Far West Cornwall is doggie heaven! There’s plenty of beaches and coastal paths for exploring. Please make sure they stay out of bedrooms and off the furniture and that you rub down muddy/sandy feet before they come in.
LINEN & TOWELS: You'll have bedding & towels but please bring your own beach towels.
UTILITY: There is a washing machine in the cupboard off the dining area and an airer.
ACCESSIBILITY: The road leading to the cottage is quite rutted. You will need to drive very slowly and would not be suitable for low slung vehicles. The parking is a level walk to the front door. The internal stairs, as in all old cottages, are steep so it may not be suited to those with limited mobility or young children so do call us first to make sure it’s suitable for you.
This property is not wheelchair friendly and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. If this applies, please contact our booking office to discuss the properties potential suitability prior to confirming.
CHANGEOVER DAY: Changeover is usually Friday. Short breaks are available for a minimum of three nights with flexible changeover days. Just for two discounts are available out of season. Do check with us if your dates don't quite fit as we will always try to help.

Qui vous reçoit ?
Vous êtes reçu par The Cornish Way

We are The Cornish Way Limited. My name is Seb and together with assistance from Adrienne and Lowenna we run The Cornish Way, a small local holiday agency managing a fine collection of cottages on behalf of their owners. Working from a converted dairy on the outskirts of Penzance together with our office dogs, Baloo and Herbie we are located close by to all the cottages.
The whole team live locally so always get in touch. We are usually on hand to help with your stay even if it's just a tip for a good local pub or beach!
