London mansion house, impeccable design, huge garden, close to the tennis
This giant family house has huge proportions and a big garden to match and is close to Wimbledon Tennis. Recently renovated to high spec and design level, this is a luxurious home away from home. There is a big kitchen with marble island miele appliances, two ovens and large dining table. A large living room for families to relax, watch TV, play games and table football. A master suite with dressing room and ensuite together with marble clad bathrooms and high end appliances make this a sumptuous base to explore London from. Close to the tube and train lines, getting around London is easy. Many restaurants, shops and bars nearby, including Wimbledon Tennis and the Putney riverside.
The London mansion was perfect for our family. We were a large group, but the location, the beautiful yard, and the amazing home worked wonderfully. The host was welcoming and flexible. I highly recommend this home for a VRBO stay.
This is a hard review to write as our stay was fabulous. The property is just as described, beautifully furnished with eclectic touches and nice rooms. The space was accommodating and comfortable and conveniently located about a 5min walk to a train station that will easily take you into the Major city of London. The neighborhood is pleasant with many pubs, eateries and markets at your disposal. We came in a early from our flight and where allowed to come in and leave our luggage in the home while the cleaning was finished. There was a bit of an awkward moment when the host requested to come in and get something from the home. We broke a drinking glass and I made sure to leave it on the counter and let the host know when we checked out. This was the first stop in our trip and it took a couple of days before I received a response from the host, Flora. She started her message accusing me of sneaking extra people into the unit, saying that she knows I had children there and that I never disclosed to her that I would have children. She then said that toys were brought in and out of rooms they didnât belong in. Then she says that playdoh was left all over her carpets leaving them permanently damaged. From this she moved on to her couch, showing us a huge dark stain and saying weâve done it. Then she said we broke a track in her curtain treatments upstairs. From there she asked if anyone had dyed their hair because there were permanent stains on her tub and shower. She sent pictures of the couch, tub. Fast forward a couple of days and sheâs quoted us about $700 for the damages which were charged. When I responded to Flora I began by asking her to review our conversations prior to booking and the official booking request itself where I clearly stated I was traveling in a party of 7 people, two of which where children. This is the first time we use VRBO but have stayed in many rentals as we travel often, in fact the remainder of our trip which included stops is Rome and Italy were with rentals and we received great reviews from our hosts. Weâve never been accused of damages or defrauding the host by sneaking people in. When we stay in rentals the host will let you know when things are not to be touched and we are respectful of those rules. We were never told toys were not to be touched. We never once used the tub and definitely didnât stain the couch or break the curtains. We will pay for cleaning of the carpet but every other accusation is ridiculous.
The house is everything described and more. We had a lovely stay with our whole family. The house is very well set-up with all your need to cook, relax and explore London. The tube is a very short walk and from there it is an easy ride to anywhere in the city. It was a perfect trip.
The house was spacious and comfortable and exactly as pictured on VRBO. Decor, design and art were beautiful. As a family of four (2 adults and 2 teenagers), everyone had plenty of space to themselves, and spent a lot of time together in the bright, modern kitchen and cozy family room. The backyard and garden were perfect to relax in each evening.
East Putney is a peaceful and calm neighborhood. Everything you need is within a leisurely seven to ten minute walk: three grocery stores, charming restaurants, pharmacy, and the East Putney Tube station. Access to Central London is quick and easy via the District line. We did not have a car, and felt no need for one.
The owners were very welcoming and gracious. House information was clear and sent to us well in advance of our stay. We didnât meet the owners in person, but communicated efficiently through text and VRBO emails. They were responsive and quick to answer our questions, and arranged for someone to meet us with keys and show us around the house. Check-in was a breeze.
Weâd stay here again in a heartbeat.
We are a family who have travelled and lived in various places around the world. We have been hosts for many years. Here we share our family home for you to enjoy while visiting family, doing business or exploring London.
It is unusual to find a family home this big, this close to central London, with such a big garden and beautiful interior. Contemporary, high end, designer aesthetic. Huge rooms with high ceilings. Garden for kids to play in for hours including climbing frame, trampoline and football net. Off street parking. Attentive hosts. Lots of parks within easy reach including Wimbledon Common and the famous Richmond Park.
Enjoy a morning espresso while sitting in the swing chair in the kitchen, gazing at the song birds in the garden. Make big meals in the spacious kitchen with its marble countertops. Relax after an adventurous day in the huge master suite with dressing room, roll top bath and balcony. Excellently located 4 mins from tube station. 7 mins from mainline. Easy access out of town via A3.
