This property is ideal for family and friends to relax at, have a soak in the hot tub, light the fire, have BBQ in the large private garden, and to enjoy the fantastic Cairngorm National Park. Situated on the edge of Nethy Bridge, "Lag Na Coille" (Gaelic for in the hollow of the wood) is a 10 minute walk from the local Nethy Cafe, the well stocked Balliefurth Farm Shop, the SPAR and the local Nethy Hotel Bar and Restaurant.
A great week at this property. Spacious enclosed garden for our dogs, well equipped kitchen, good sized double bedrooms. No serious complaints - an excellent base for exploring Speyside.
However, we have a couple of minor comments given that the house could sleep up to 8 adults.
1. We had 5 adults and just about managed to fit ourselves around the dining table, which consisted of bench seating. I found it difficult to imagine how 8 people would have managed.
2. Washing machine/ tumble dryer. The utility room had a small combined washer/dryer. Given the nature of a walking/activity holiday in the Scottish Highlands and the changeable weather, we had plenty of dirty laundry across the week. Washing and drying with only one machine (with a small 2kg drying capacity) was a real challenge. Added to this, only one towel per guest had been supplied (despite also a hot-tub in the garden), so make sure you take plenty of your own towels!
3. Again, the nature of an activity holiday in the Highlands using a remote base like Nethy Bridge, usually means being out all day, and being home in the evenings. The living room had a smart TV with access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, but the layout of the living room with the TV wall mounted in a small recess presented a challenge for 5 of us to comfortably sit down at night and watch a movie. It was impossible for 5 people to sit on a sofa and watch. Again, had we been a party of 8, I'm really not sure how the living room could have coped.
My family of 7 loved this house. There was plenty of room for my husband and I and our 5 kids ages 15 to 21. The kitchen was very well equipped for dinner at home with groceries purchased in the lovely farmshop in town. We drove into the National Park and did a whiskey distillery tour and it was very convenient. The surrounding area is lovely. We highly recommend.
