Set within beautiful secluded countryside, a recent release spot for red kites that are regularly sighted nearby, this picturesque cottage for two makes a wonderful spot to get away from it all, whether that’s with your special person or when taking a break on your own. Follow the tranquil lane into the woods or wander along the Derwent Walk - commonly known as the coast-to-coast cycle route. Nearby are two historic cities, Newcastle and Durham, both roughly half an hour away.
The popular Beamish Museum is just 10 minutes away by car and also nearby is the Gibside Estate, where you can enjoy its beautiful gardens and historic buildings or even buy some local treats at the farmer's markets. Other well-loved places nearby include the coastal village of Bamburgh, just an hour away and Northumberland coastline.
At the cottage, there is a pretty courtyard, a lovely place to relax in the morning sun and sit amongst the trees. Internally, the traditional stone cottage has been stylishly renovated using rustic tones and luxurious furnishings. Exposed beams hint at the property’s 250-year history as a paper mill and the traditional wood burner in the living room makes the cottage feel truly cosy, even in winter.
