12 St. John's Mews - a couples retreat that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

A super example of a high quality 2 bedroom apartment. This high class apartment is wonderfully presented throughout with great attention to detail. It features some great views of York Minster both from the dining area and also one of the bedrooms.

In the main living area you will find a wall mounted LCD smart TV for your viewing pleasure together with a very comfortable 'L' shaped sofa. The dining area in the same room can comfortably seat 4 for dinner with a lovely York Minster backdrop.

A stylish, contemporary kitchen can also be found in this area along with all the amenities you'd expect at a property of this standard along with granite worktops.

The property has splashes of character throughout such as the feature wall paper in the bedrooms and hallway. The master bedroom itself has a king size bed together with a wall mounted LCD TV, wardrobe and dressing table. The second bedroom has the flexibility of offering a super king bed that can also be split into twin beds upon request.

The bathroom can be found off the hallway and features a stylish walk in shower.

Externally there is a secure car park with allocated parking for one car. Central York is just a couple of minutes' walk away making it the perfect spot for a getaway of any length.

Excellent pre-Christmas stay!

The apartment is of a high standard and ideally located within 10 minutes walk of the main city centre. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Would definitely book again.

Lovely place but you need proper directions to find it

A very clean and comfortable flat with a view of the Minster. Our only problem was finding it in the first place, as we walked around the building in the pouring rain looking for flat 12, and seeing nothing between 11 and 18 ! New guests please find Flat 5 and then go towards the left into the far corner of the building where you come upon an unmarked staircase.

Great apartment in good quiet location

Our second visit to this comfortable well located apartment with off road parking. We enjoyed dining while viewing the towers of the Minster and occasional sightings of a Peregrine. Beds and furniture is comfortable and temperature satisfactory. The area is quite despite it being on a local walking route. The flat could do with an airer for drying towels as the towel rail is small and in hot weather you would not want it on. Some more plates and bowls would also be helpful. We have some issue with the cost of holiday accommodation in the UK and this makes us think harder about where we stay.

Perfect base for a city break

Within a stone's throw of the city walls and with the audible peel of the Minster's bells, this apartment is just perfect for anyone wanting to base themselves in the city. It was very clean, very comfortable and very well equipped. The only downside was the initial smell of damp in the bathroom - the extractor fan had been turned off and the bathroom door closed when we arrived, meanign there had been no air circulating. The bathroom itself was exceptionally clean but does need airing or the extractor fan on after a shower.

Wonderful

The apartment is very comfortable and provides everything one needs for a pleasant stay. It is close to the city yet in a quiet place. The staff of Stays York is very nice and friendly and helpful. It was a great vacation!

Beautiful apartment

This is my 2nd stay at this beautifully furnished apartment. I especially love the super comfortable pillows and bed. High quality furniture and a lovely cosy feel throughout the apartment. I look forward to returning next time I'm in York.

Excellent!

What a great find! Very comfortable spacious apartment only minutes from the centre of York. Can see the Minster from the doors in the kitchen. Small shop just across the road for essentials. The apartment was very nice to return to after a day walking around York. Very comfortable big beds in both rooms, although we only used one. Small welcome pack of tea, coffee and biscuits. Real bonus having a designated parking space too (one of the reasons we booked it). It's a bit tricky to find the entrance to the car park, but if you follow the instructions given by York Stays, they make it a bit easier. Not the cheapest place to stay in York but you get what you pay for. Would definitely recommend and return here.

Home Away From Home

A delightful flat with a partial view of the Minster. Excellent lighting, both natural and electric. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen functional, washer dryer too. If we are fortunate enough to return to York, we would stay here again.

Modern, clean apartment in a great location.

Would highly recommend this apartment. Clean, modern, comfortable and lovely and warm in December. Beds very comfortable and kitchen well equipped with modern appliances. In a great location. Just a five minute walk to the shops/restaurants. Views of York minster from the living area. Parking on site a massive plus.

Lovely place to stay, close to the city

Very nice apartment with everything you need. The description of the property says 2 bathrooms which is obviously a typo because it only has one which initially was quite disappointing but we had a lovely time, the rooms are gorgeous, spacious bedrooms with great mattress’s, Christmas decs & a tree in the lounge, great kitchen, plenty of windows making it feel bright. We’d highly recommend staying here just remember there’s only the one bathroom.

Loved 12 St John's Mews

Having visited York many times over the years, 12 St John's Mews is certainly one of the best self catering accommodation we have stayed in. Stays York manage several properties in this development and we think this is possibly the best. The apartment is very light, tastefully decorated and furnished. It is on the first floor, with views of the Minster from the living/dining/kitchen and one of the bedrooms. The second bedroom is also very light with double aspect windows + juliet balcony. There is also a juliet balcony in the kitchen area. There is only one bathroom (only a shower) between both bedrooms. The parking bay for this apartment is 8. The car park is supposed to be accessed with a key fob to lower the bollard, but on arrival the bollard had not been working for some time (according to a resident), so the fob isn't needed. The apartment is keyless with a digital entry system on the door. We had actually booked the previous 7 days with Booking.com and loved it so much, we extended our stay by three nights directly with Stays York. The only problem we had was the hob which is an induction one, but the saucepans provided weren't suitable.

Great stay in central York

Spent five nights in this wonderful flat which was just a few mins walk from the City Wall in a quiet residential area. Secure and safe entry system. Very comfortable beds and pillows, lovely big comfortable couch to curl up on. Didn't make meals as such but seemed well equipped if you so desired. Gift food box was a lovely welcoming touch. Definitely recommend staying here.
