The location is beautiful and close to the town of Santa Elena. Emanuel responded promptly to my many questions and he set us up with an awesome guide for Monteverde tours.
We had a great stay, enjoying the peaceful environment, beautiful views and spacious home. Xinia was a gracious host, showing us around and sharing bananas.
The host was a really sweet and kind person very personable and passionate for her property and garden . A wonderful experience all the way around . This is my 4 time in this paradise of Monte Verde and this was one of the best rentals ever
The property is on top of a hill overseeing the ocean with a beautiful garden full of pretty birds and some of the most amazing sunsets! The owners are awesome people, super friendly and helpful, we loved our stay.
The place has stunning view of the lake in the distance and surrounding green hills. It is centrally located. We saw many wildlife on the property. The place is very clean. The host is very friendly.
Loved our stay and our hosts were so kind and helpful â€ïž Highly recommend this place for a peaceful retreat (close to fantastic hiking and bird watching). House was adorable and had everything we needed. Hope to return again!
Beautiful house and scenery! Kind host and host's mother (who brought us home made empanadas). Emanuel checked on on us via WhatsApp and gave us recommendations. This is place is so beautiful and I would happily stay here again.
The cool breezes, mountain-top views, sweet hosts and hammocks in the fruit trees were such a gift for our family of 5. Our kids loved it here, playing soccer while the sun set over the view of the ocean. This place is immaculate, well-maintained and Xenia was the most warm and welcoming host. So grateful to have been able to spend some time here, we will never forget it! Emanuel booked our tours for us which worked out great too! Highly recommend!
This place is an out-of-this-world, amazingly peaceful sanctuary. Tia is charming, and an amazing needlepoint artist. The house is adorned with her majestic artwork. The house is well appointed, and left us wanting for nothing. I highly recommend this beautiful and restful retreat.
Wonderful time. Met On arrival by our host. She was generous, giving us bananas. Lots of information about the house in the area. She spoke Spanish with my children and my daughters Avery Tessa and Reeseloved the experience. Highly recommend. If you was breathtaking and close to town. We hope to visit again.
We had a great stay at Campo Azul. Xinia checked us in, showed us around and answered questions. She showed us how to squeeze sugar cane juice, where the mint and other herbs were and even brought some delicious empanadas. The only concern we had was the road in. It was really rocky with ruts. Our car scraped a few times! The kitchen was well stocked and we had everything we needed to cook our meals. There were stores nearby for everything we needed. The grounds and flowers are beautiful!
We absolutely loved our stay! On checking in we received an extremely warm welcome from Xinia and Gilbert who showed us how everything in the house worked and around the property. They even provided our kids with a frisbee and soccer ball to play with. Emanuel booked everything for us and he even rearranged one of our tours and asked if we needed help to find a doctor because our daughter had slept terribly due to an ear infection. Our kids also loved it here because they could finally have their own beds after having to share a bed for the last two weeks. We had a wonderful time and the highlights were the night tour, the beautiful property and our lovely hosts! Pura vida!
I wish we had booked a few more nights here, because two just wasn't enough. We were met by the owner's mother, who gave us a tour of the home and property. She shared from their garden and we enjoyed visiting with her. The house was clean, comfortable and accommodating. The mountain/canyon view was INCREDIBLE and we spotted and heard animals, most notably the toucan, all day and night. For anyone not used to it, the dogs barking at night can be disruptive to sleep, so bring earplugs. I think this is universally good advice, anywhere you go in Costa Rica. ;) We would happily stay here again!
We really enjoyed our 3 nights stay at Campo Azul. My wife & I would definitely come again if we are back in the area.
A bit hard to find in the dark, as flight / baggage problems caused us to arrive from Liberia later than expected. But Emanuel was very responsive, & with some back-and-forth messaging we got there & settled in.
With all the great activities in the Santa Elena area, we were out & about each day. Campo Azul was a quiet, serene place to come back to, with all that we needed for a comfortable stay, great sleeps, and amazing views to enjoy.
We appreciated the visit from Emanuelâs mother, her tour of the farm property, as well as the fresh fruit & home-made treats she provided. Her home-grown coffee is the best!
The accommodations were clean and very well kept. we had great views of the hillside. The photos on the VRBO website were very accurate. The owners.Xinia and Gilberth were there to meet us when we checked in. Seamless process. The road to get to the house is dirt and has some potholes, so would recommend a vehicle with a little bit of clearance. we coordinated our tours through them and were extremely satisfied with both of them. Our guide Juan Ramon was probably the best guide I have had in all my 40+ years of travel. Heâs passionate and exceptionally knowledgeable about his work. He loves what he does so much that on his days off he hikes and looks for more animals so he could share those locations with his clients. I highly recommend both the location and Juan Ramon as a guide while youâre in Monte Verde.
Campo Azul is located on a ranch just outside of town with stunning views of the Nicoya Peninsula and gulf to the west and the mountains and cloud forest to the east. The property has a flower garden, vegetable garden, banana trees, lemon tree, and pomelo tree (among others). The bird life is spectacular! I annoyed my wife and daughter by excitedly pointing out the motmots, warblers, woodpeckers and toucan.
There are two cabins. We stayed in the larger, with a bedroom (queen and bunk bed), bathroom (hot shower!), and open room with couch, dining table, wash basin, and full kitchen. The decorations are handmade and beautiful.
The host was warm and kind, sharing lots of information and checking in on WhatsApp to see how our trip was going. Xinia was very friendly and greeted us at the property to show us around. Smiled the whole timeđ
I would return in a heartbeat. My wife and daughter enjoyed the stay despite my bird enthusiasm!
I highly recommend.
host was very nice and she met us when we arrived to show us the property. it has beautiful views and is high up in a field on their land. chickens, garden, flowers, views. house was clean and had a nice breeze at night. i would like to warn others that if you gps from la fortuna like i did to be careful and not go on the 4x4 road only--my suv with balding tires rented from budget san jose airport ( do not reccomend budget after this experience) was sliding down this rocky incline road from standstill and was a very terrifying and dangerous experience), i dont recall signs warning us but later found out is was only for atv and 4x4--we survived in one piece as well as the car but do gps to santa maria and then on to the house from there to avoid my misadventure. maybe due to the stress of the day driving there is why i had nightmares and didnt sleep well b/c it is very quiet and peaceful here. do use the door latches b/c the breeze throughout the house will make the doors slam if you dont latch them to the wall. it really is very beautiful here and close to town surprisingly. we only stayed one night to do the bridges.
