Built in 1920, Seacot is a comfortable, traditional cottage in the former fishing village of Clachnaharry beside the Caledonian Canal in Inverness. Seacot is perfect for family holidays and staycations. There are 2 cozy bedrooms, a reading nook, 2 sitting rooms, electric fireplace, well equipped kitchen and a family dining room. From the bedroom you can enjoy stunning views across the Moray Firth where the canal meets the sea. You may even catch a glimpse of the bottle-nose dolphins! Seacot is perfectly located as the start and finish of the famous North Coast 500; one of the worldâs top coastal touring routes.
This is a lovely little house. It was clean and cozy. It is right up next to a busy street which has fast, loud traffic.Itâs very close (by car) to Inverness and near highway access.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here! A nice, straightforward, and easy 35 minute walk to the center of Inverness. We had 5 adults and 2 children (ages 4 and 2) and there was plenty of space for all of us. It got a bit toasty at times with no AC, but we made it work. The washer/dryer combo took a long time to wash and dry, and we could never figure out how to turn on the hot water to the bathtub (those things were probably on us), but overall was a clean and cozy stay; it was our favorite place out of all the places we stayed on our trip to Scotland.
Staying at Seacot Cottage was fantastic! The cottage was extremely comfortable, well-appointed, perfectly accommodated our family of five. We loved being near the canal and locks - it made for a perfect run in the morning and a great space to explore close to âhome.â A grocery store is a 10-15 minute walk away, and central Inverness is less than a 10 taxi ride away. We were sad to leave and hope to someday come back!
Beautiful & comfortable cottage in a lovely location
Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was comfortable, clean, and well stocked. There was space to spread out, and we loved being able to to take walks along the canal. The nearby pub was a friendly place to visit. And we all enjoyed the cottage so much that we look forward to a return visit!
This was our last stop on a 2 week road trip through Scotland. This cottage provided super comfy beds and sitting areas. This was perfect for resting up before our travel home. Very clean and well appointed.
We enjoyed staying at the cottage. It was spacious and clean. We parked in the school parking lot the entire time and never had a problem. Good place for accessing tourist locations around Inverness.
Only two nights but a pleasant stay that was accentuated by the great inn and pub next door (great food, great drinks, friendly staff)! Easy access entry.
Check in was easy. There is parking in back of the house but you can literally par on the road right in front of the house. Hosts were responsive and the location is great!
It is right off the main rd and not on the water. Parking was confusing as was the washer/ dryer to operate. I would say this cottage was an ok place to stay. Itâs safe and clean but we could not turn up the heat.
We loved our stay at Seacot! After over a week in a small hotel room in London it was so nice to have a whole house to ourselves. The canal walk behind the house was lovely and the house itself was cute and clean. Highly recommend!
My two friends and I had a great time at the Seacot cottage. It was impeccable, beautifully decorated, comfortable and a great location for us. Excellent setting by the water, yet walkable into town- lovely walk along the canal path. I highly recommend! Helpful and attentive hosts too!
Very clean and comfortable house, walking distance to the pub two doors down, and an Esso/small grocery 5 minutes the other direction. The only two suggestions I have for the owners are to clearly state that bedrooms are upstairs and that there is no parking on the property itself (we used the canal parking lot down the street a bit).
Seacot Cottage is delightful. The Clachnaharry Inn and pub is two doors down, delicious local dishes and friendly staff. Marc and Megan, our hosts, could not have been more helpful or kind. My husband and I had a great trip, a jumping off point to explore the Scottish highlands. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
Felt like home. Roomy enough for 6 people did not feel crowded. Only complaint is the washer/dryer unit took 4 hours per load and clothes were still wet
Booking this property turned out to be a frustrating experience for us. We mistakenly booked the wrong dates well in advance and promptly notified the hosts. Despite this, upon the intended day of check-in and after confirming with the host, we arrived to find ourselves unable to access the property. The lockbox provided was empty, and subsequent attempts to reach the host via text, phone, and the app went unanswered for an hour.
Feeling stranded and unsure of what to do with our luggage, we reluctantly booked alternative accommodation for the night. It wasn't until VRBO intervened that the host finally responded, albeit with a defensive and unwelcoming attitude. We attempted to discuss a refund due to the inconvenience but were met with further discomfort from the host, who was unnecessarily accusatory towards us.
Moreover, the property's confusing multiple key locks with the same code added unnecessary stress to an already challenging situation. Overall, our experience with this booking left us feeling disappointed and unsupported. We would not recommend this property to others based on our interactions and the lack of professionalism displayed by the host.
We were deeply unsettled to learn that the property had multiple key locks with the same code. This raised significant safety concerns for us, as it appeared that the code might be shared among different guests. This practice felt insecure and unsafe. We absolutely do not recommend this place.
