Perfect!

This place is in a brilliant spot, close enough to wander into York city centre in just a few minutes, but tucked away somewhere peaceful and quiet. The views over the river are stunning and make it feel really special. The apartment itself is warm, cosy, and has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The DVDs, local guidebooks, and books about York are such a thoughtful touch and really added to the experience. I’d thoroughly recommend staying here if you’re visiting York. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent location, could do with a refresh

Great location and were met promptly, keys handed over with no issues. We visited this apartment several years ago and although clean, furniture and fittings are mostly as they were and require updating. The flood level when we visited was above dangerous but we received no information from Stays York either before or during our stay.

Lovely property overlooking the river. Didn't cook as the smoke alarm was so sensitive, making toast was a mission! Would love to rebook and stay longer next time but very overpriced. Great location - everything was walking distance

- 5-10 minute walk to anywhere we needed to go - parking garage was a huge convenience - quick responses from management with any questions - very comfortable, clean, and quiet apartment - we'd stay here again with no hesitation

Lovely views of the river

We really enjoyed staying here. The property was clean, well equipped and had lovely views of the river. It was easy to walk to all the tourist sites. We also took day trips up to Grassington, Thirsk and Whitby. I would highly recommend it.

Amazing flat in a fantastic location

The flat was exactly as advertised. The view over the river was beautiful. Everything was clean and the flat was well equipped. The property manager also offers a thoughtful welcome gift. Great place to stay in York!

So fortunate to have been able to stay in ‘Over the River’ - it was the most beautiful apartment only topped by the amazing views. The apartment was very clean and well equipped. Easy access into York. did I mention the amazing views from the balcony? They were outstanding. Would be more than happy to stay there again

Wonderful Stay at Emperor’s Wharf

My wife and stayed in Over the River Emperor's Wharf for 5 days and were delighted with it. The apartment is clean, modern and very well located for exploring York. We also enjoyed the wonderful views of the river and the activities on it. Parking is below ground and is convenient and secure. There is a convenient Sainsbury Local within a 5-minute walk and a full-service Marks & Spencer just a bit farther away.

Wow!

Our stay at Emperors Wharf was just one part of our month-long 50th wedding anniversary trip around England. We stayed at 10 different locations around the country and this place was the topper. I knew I had picked the best place to stay in York when my wife walked into the apartment and just said “Wow!” The views were even better than the pictures show and the apartment was walking distance to everything. The apartment was clean and very well stocked. We loved it!

Stay at Emperor's Wharf

We loved York and were extremely pleased with our stay here. We were met by an extremely nice property manager who provided us the keys and showed us all the particulars of the flat. The view was just wonderful and we enjoyed sitting out on the porches, watching the boats and people go by, listening to the chimes of the nearby churches and minster. We could not have asked for a better location to explore York and our only suggestions would be to add some more ice cube trays and a second flat sheet to each bed for your American cousins. We like lots of ice with our drinks and to sleep with just a sheet covering us when it is warm, like it was that week. Another note for future guests would be to have the water temperature regulator checked out in the bath tub. My sister complained of cool showers. Our master shower was fine though. Thanks for such a great place!

Wonderful view and location; communication needs improvement

This is a lovely flat and the views look exactly as pictured. Very relaxing watching the boats on the river. A bit of noise on the weekends but just a bit and not too late. Everything in the flat operated properly (which unfortunately you can never count on with these types of holiday rentals), It was nice to have a few toys in the flat also. That being said, there were a few areas that could be improved. First, the flat looks clean at first sight, but when you look under the sofa, in the corners, or around the windows, not so much. Second, the main bed could do with replacement. It was soft and lumpy to me. The pillows also need replacing. They are flat and sad. Third, the master bedroom needs blackout curtains. Come on, this is the north of England and it starts to get light at 4:00 am. Fourth, communication with Stays York was difficult. They apparently don’t check their email very often. Emails go unanswered or answered very tardily. It is unclear who you are supposed to email because there was more than one person communicating with me. They apparently don’t share their emails with each other. I lived in fear I would lose the one set of keys they allowed (another complaint BTW) because I didn’t know how long it would take to reach them (I didn’t lose them thankfully). I should clarify that I stayed here over two weeks. If it had only been a weekend none of this would have mattered as much. I would still recommend the property.

We have just returned from a wonderful week in this excellent accommodation. It isn't an overlarge property but is totally 5* in quality.It isn't just about the rooms, but who can complain about 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms with a decent size lounge and kitchen.It is the quantity of equipment provided for use.There was nothing we were short of and didn't need to keep washing up to be able to eat a meal.The cupboards were full of crockery and cutlery and everything to be able to self cater that you could want. It felt lovely and homely and is in a very safe block with wonderful views of York.You felt included in the activity of york without leaving the property, but also very private and quiet.The added use of a balcony was lovely. I understand other comments about the parking space, it is tight.But there are a lot of other properties that don't give you an option of parking.

Dream vacation in York

This location was wonderful. We felt completely safe and were able to walk most everywhere we wanted to go. I do have to agree that the parking garage was made for teeny tiny cars. Might mention that the switch to turn on the stove is red and on the wall just up yo the left of the stove... but other than those minor issues everything was accurately listed.

Great time in York

As we were relying on public transportation during our spring break in England, the apartment at Emperors Wharfs was ideally suited for our needs - centrally located in close proximity to all historic sites in York and with easy access to the train station and busses. The team at StaysYork was awesome and helped us out with two rather unusual problems (Thank you again, Molly). Check in was breeze and the apartment met its online description. Our only comment is that it might be a little bit tight for four individuals if you spend longer periods of time in the place. The fourth bed is a trundle (which would occupy much of the spare space in the second bedroom) and the dining accommodations are tight. Having said that - Being only three people and out of the house exploring York most of the time the place was perfect for our purposes and I can you only recommend it. We would definitely book it again.

Fantastic flat in great location

Great flat. Well equipped and very clean. View down the river is fantastic. You could never get bored with it. However returning keys to Stays York office in town is a pain. We had to pay ÂŁ4 to relocate the car before walking back into town to had in keys. Also the meet and greet service was virtually non existent. The woman told us to park in the wrong car park and then left. No instructions as to how to find the flat or how to use the heating for example. Poor even in these Covid times.

Delightful apartment overlooking the river

I had a wonderful stay at Over the River - Emperors Wharf. It is not the biggest apartment, but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is approx 10 minutes walk into the centre of York and close to lots of bars and shops. I was lucky to have excellent weather so spent many hours on the balcony, watching the world go by. I would definitely stay again.

Gem of a Property

This is a lovely property that exceeded my expectations. Ideally positioned with its own parking space and within walking distance of all the attractions of York whilst providing a tranquil retreat. The furniture is comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with everything you might need, even managed to cook a full Sunday dinner. The balcony is well positioned and a lovely place to watch the comings and goings on the river. Parking space is tight but was good to have. First time staying in this property and will definitely return.

Stunning view

The views of the river were just stunning from the huge picture windows on three sides of the lounge and two balcony’s. The flat was spotless, as were the public areas and lift. It was very useful to be able to take the lift from the gated car parking area too. Lovely light and airy rooms with views from every window. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to use. Both bathrooms were clean with lovely towels. Really well located for the city centre but fairly quiet as it is on the quieter side of the river. Absolutely loved staying there and would recommend highly. Stays York we’re so easy to deal with and having a local office is a huge bonus.
