A lovely property, beautifully appointed and filled with most items you could need. Kitchen filled with items, even herbs and spices, great quality BBQ that was a pleasure to use. Showers/bathrooms were all great, nice big shower head, plenty of pressure. Pool is a great size and lovely to use if a little chilly , pool surround is wooden and aging a little and we did they some painful splinters that were a real pain to get out. There was even a hammock and a day bed out there which were super comfy. Which brings me to the only bad point which was that there were so many mosquitos, we were getting eaten alive. Sadly we hadn't come prepared and didn't manage to get anything aside from an ineffective spray from the supermarket. Late in the week the owners had put down some mosquito traps and on our last day the mosquitos (and Wasps) disappeared, we were able to play in the pool for a couple of hours without being bitten. So hopefully the problem is solved, but I would advise going prepared (I have some cheap usb bug zapping lights that I should have taken to put in the bedrooms). Thanks to the owners for providing such a lovely villa, and being so pleasant. Without the mosquito problem it would have been a hands down 5 stars, I still almost gave 5 stars
Simply a fantastic property in a great area with outstanding views, and the nicest owners ever.
Well equipped 3 bedroom ( all en suite) house with terraces overlooking the pool, the countryside and all the way to the Pyrenees beyond. Four of us stayed (adults), and just loved the house and the area.
30 minutes from Carcassonne or Mirepoix, and Limoux only 13 kilometres away. Although the property is in a
small village, there is also a fantastic bistro restaurant (2 minutes walk) open Wednesday to Sunday. (All of us had fantastic food here including one vegan in the group)
The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, and all four of us plan to return
The villa was everything we had hoped for and more. Absolute peace and relaxation. Everything had been thought of in the decor and available equipment. The best equipped villa we have ever stayed in my miles.
We all loved the pool (though it was a little chilly even in August!).
Lots of local towns and villages to explore if you can drag yourself away, local supermarkets in abundance!
Make sure to take a visit to a local vineyard to stock up on fizz and a day out to Carcassonne is a must.
A week wasn't long enough, all week my daughters were asking if we could return!
Excellent villa with all facilities and wonderful views in all directions
We were given a very warm welcome by the owners of the villa, Kenneth and Sandra, on arrival and they made sure that we had everything we needed. We found the property met all our requirements. Three decent sized bedrooms, all ensuite, a good dining and sitting room area, and a large outside terrace with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. There is also a good-sized swimming pool. The villa is situated in the heart of the village of Cailhau, which is one of the most attractive villages in the Razes, with a small restaurant, Akotee, and a post office. Food shops and a pharmacy are easily reached in the neighbouring village of Belveze du Razes. We came to the villa to relax and enjoy peace, quiet, and interesting walks around the area. Our hopes were fulfilled.
This was one of the best holidays we have ever had. The house, facilities, location and views were absolutely fantastic. Genuinely a piece of paradise. Ken and Sandra were fantastic hosts and really lovely. We will definitely be back!
Communication with the owner and all arrangements at the house have been perfect. The only problem was on booking the Vrbo system was less than perfect!
