Ideal location with easy access to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. A ten-minute drive off J37 of the M6.

The accommodation provides 8 en-suite bedrooms (offering a mixture of bunk beds, sleeping up to 35 guests).

​Large open-plan lounge with fell views, flagged floors, beams, and underfloor heating. ​Dining area & 2 kitchens.

​Our hot tub which is under a glazed gazebo on the terrace with 360-degree views is included in the price. Free Wi-Fi!

Bedding (and towels) are included in our prices too.

​Games room & outdoor games field (5 acres). TV lounge with Sky TV. ​Drying room.

BBQs, log burner, and round to the side of the Barn there is a place to have a campfire.

​Parking for up to 20 cars.

​Sonos Bluetooth music system with surround sound, which is ideal for evening celebrations!

​A variety of board games and children's toys are available and we also provide free hire of high chairs and travel cots (available upon request).

Amazing accommodation, location and host! Would definitely stay here again. Perfect stay for a large group with all the amenities you possibly need. Exceptionally clean and the views were amazing. Everything is right there, you end up not wanting to go out to explore as you just want to stay in!

Wonderful Place To Stay For Large Groups Of All Ages

My group thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the barn, which is a credit to everyone involved. We've being holding annual get-togethers for around 15 years in various locations, and now we've been to Howgills, I can't imagine us aiming to stay anywhere else. The property ticked every box for us and I can't think of any way the site can be improved upon.

Near Perfection!!!

Howgills Barn was the ideal place for our group. The facilities were fantastic. There was everything we could ask for and more. Excellent value for money. Location was perfect, hosts were very friendly and accommodating. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough and I’m confident we’ll be back again in the future!

One of the best places we've used in over 50 years of New Year celebrating.

Howgill Barn proved to be a good location for our annual five day New Year self catered event for 22 people. Plenty of warm socialising space with fun areas like games room and hot tub. It would be particularly spacious in the warmer months when you could get outside on the large patio. The bunk rooms were a little tight but good that each one had its own toilet, washbasin and shower. The upstairs kitchen was also on the small size but doable but if necessary a large kitchen was available downstairs. Both kitchens well furnished with all essential items for large scale catering. Excellent location for short and long hikes locally from the door. Plenty of parking space.

Superb Property

This barn has everything you could possibly need and things you won’t have even thought of! It is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We were a group of 28 and loved the fact that we could all be together in the first floor communal areas. The hot tub, outdoor seating, indoor seating, dining area and kitchen are all on the same level which creates one big sociable space. We also made use of the large field for team building activities. If you are a large group looking for a private space for any event I would highly recommend Howgills Barn.

Superb Accommodation

We all agreed this was the best accommodation we have stayed in. The boys particularly liked the hot tub, football pitch and games room, we barely saw them. Great lounge room and outdoor area. We spent the whole evening in the big dining and sitting room. Would definitely recommend.

A super weekend with friends in a stunning setting.

I have just returned from another fabulous weekend with friends at Howgills Bunk Barn. The barn was beautifully clean , as always, and very well stocked with towels, bedding, glasses, plates and cutlery galore! The hot tub is always a hit! It is out of town enough not to have to worry about noise travelling, but close enough to walk into the shops if you forget something. There are many walks just from the door. We managed several walks (and some even swam in the river!). It remains our favourite place to gather with friends so I cannot recommend it more highly.

Fun visit

The howgills barn is great accommodation for family get together. Lots of nice walks, Sedburgh right next door with good restaurants and bars. The accommodation is great where we could all sit together, catch up, dance and play games. The jacuzzi is also great. Also plenty of cooking facilities and fridge freezer space. All in all we had a great time

Perfect Venue

My friends and I came here for 2 nights for a chilled out stag do. The venue was perfect. Really clean, could host many guests with activities on site. I met the owners of the barn whilst on site and they were so warm and welcoming. Would gladly return in future!

what a fantastic place loved it from start to finish. The space in the living rooms and the rooms the games room the garden were all just amazing. There was 26 of with still plenty space. We got even more than we could of asked for and would definitely use this again without any hesitation. Thank you howgills for having us.

What a place!

What an incredible place! Me and my friends enjoyed 2 fabulous nights at the barn and everyone said they thought the place was epic. The remoteness and beautiful views make you feel like you're in your own little oasis. They have thought of everything and the whole place is set up to entertain a big crowd. We have made memories we will cherish forever and I would not hesitate to book again. The whole process was very easy and everyone I encountered or spoke to were very friendly. Thank you for an incredible time!

Fabulous location and facilities for Fun weekend

A group of 23 really enjoyed our stay at Howgills barn. We loved the communal areas, outside hot tub area and the stunning location of Sedbergh. Some of the group were apprehensive about bunk beds but the beds were really comfy, the bedding was crisp white and we had en-suite facilities. The kitchen was so well equipped and thought had gone into so many little things (such as, a fantastic idea to have a tea and coffee area in the porch to save too many people trying to get into the compact kitchen!). We didn't even get chance to use the games room as the weather was great for walking and exploring the town - we will have to return!

We loved every minute of our weekend at Howgills barn celebrating my 60th birthday with friends, family and dogs It is perfect in every way for a party, we enjoyed the beautiful location, the activities on the field, the games in the inside games room, the relaxing in the jacuzzi, the lovely surrounding walks , the fantastic facilities and the outside space We all want to return again soon Thank you for making my birthday so special x

Stag weekend at Howgills Barn

In short, the property was perfect for us. The amenities on site were fantastic and much more than we expected. The games room, hot tub and tv room upstairs were big hits with our group and really added to our enjoyment of the weekend. The sports field with the football goals below the house was a real added bonus which we made full use of. Communication with the owners from start to finish was excellent. The flexibility for arriving and leaving the property was much appreciated and took a level of stress off of our shoulders. Having the village only 5-10 minutes walk away was also ideal. By the end of the weekend most of the group were discussing when we’d next be staying at the barn and I think that’s the best review you can get.

Wonderful visit with friends

My friends and I stayed at the Howgills Barn for four nights over New Year's. It was a wonderful stay and everyone said it was the best venue we have stayed in yet. The best part about the accommodation was probably the variety of spaces. As well as the large living/dining space, there was also a cosy sofa room upstairs (where the downstairs noise couldn't be heard), and a games room downstairs. The large living/dining space had big tables that were good for playing games, as well as for meal times, plus there was a sofa section at the end, which felt like it provided an additional space for people to hang out in. The two kitchens had all we needed and were well stocked with cooking equipment and crockery. Between them and the large additional drinks fridge, there was more than enough space for all of us to keep what we needed in the fridge. All the glasses we could need too, which was a real bonus. Rooms were quite small, but all fairly quiet and removed from the social rooms, which was great. Location was perfect. Walking distance to four or five pubs as well as to food shops. Plus we were able to set off on a big beautiful walk around the Howgills straight from the Barn. It was a brilliant stay and I would highly recommend that others stay there.

Couldn't have asked for a better place for our Stag Do

20 of us stayed in March 2026 in what turned out to be an ideal location with the majority of the party split between Cheshire and Edinburgh As the best man I had a remit from the Stag to find a suitable central location for around 20-25 people where everyone could have a chilled weekend and Howgills fitted that bill. What more could a Stag Party want..... a hot tub, games room, single bunk beds over 8 comfortable rooms and 2 industrial sized kitchens for us to make all the food we wanted! Was ideal for some of the group to go for a hike, others to go for a round of golf and we even had a chance to sample some of the lovely boozers in Sedbergh

A truly Amazing stay

Recently visited for xmas get together for 14 of us. The barn was emaculate and the kitchen facilities were excellent. The location of the barn is perfect. Just a short walk into town and right at the foot of the fells. The hottub was incredible and a real highlight. We absolutely loved staying at the barn and would recommend to others.

Perfect accommodation for a large group of friends and their children.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Howgills Barn this week. The barn was ideal for our group and provided all the facilities we could have hoped for. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The kitchen facilities offered everything we needed and more. All the bedrooms being en-suite was a real bonus. Finally the terrace, bbq and hot tub really made our stay as we were blessed with glorious weather. With the stunning scenery we could have been anywhere in Europe- bliss! Hoping to return next year, a big thank you to Nigel and his family for looking after us…and sorry again about the Elaine Paige medley on the first night!

A long overdue weekend at Howgills

I’ve just returned from a fabulous weekend away at Howgills Bunk Barn. The trip with friends was long overdue after rescheduling due to COVID, but it was definitely worth the wait and didn’t disappoint. The bunk barn itself had been improved with a new and improved kitchen plus bedding and towels provided throughout. The new TV was a hit with the teens as they could watch Netflix and YouTube on it apparently. I preferred to sit outside soaking up the beautiful view chatting with friends. We had some great walks and the pubs in Sedbergh had great outdoor seating. We sampled both the Bull and the Dalesman. We also had a great take away curry from the Mango Tree in Kirkby Stephen. The hot tub was amazing and enjoyed by everyone. As we left a team turned up to give it a deep clean. Altogether just a fantastically normal weekend with friends. Just what we’ve all been waiting for. Thanks so much Nigel and team for providing such excellent facilities! Our kids say it’s their favourite holiday of the year and I’ve got to say I agree!

Perfect Stag House

Myself and my friends stayed here for 2 nights and we absolutely loved it. Every room had something going on and there was enough space to accomodate way more than the 17 of us who went. The cleanliness and upkeep of the barn was amazing and the outdoor area with the hot tub and bbq was fantastic. There are plenty of walks nearby up the two hills behind the barn and the town was not too far walk away either where there were shops and pubs ect. (15 mins). The table tennis arena is fantastic and the bedroom facilities are basic but nice and clean so we were also happy with this (best shower pressure ever btw). You can order am Asda or tesco shop directly to the barn as well so you can really relax and not worry about a thing. Thanks alot!

Long weekend at the Barn with family

We had a great long family weekend at Howgills Barn, with 17 of us, from grandparents and babies plus two dogs. The facilities were excellent - plenty of space for us all - and we enjoyed a fab time. Sedbergh is a lovely location. Thoroughly enjoyed and recommended.
