Description de la propriété.

Rustic cabin in a wonderful location

Property is nestled deep in the woods but owner directions were spot on! Cabin is roomy with a wonderful screened porch. The beach area is incredible and the on-site water toys are a definite plus!

Amazing Getaway!

If you’re looking for that ideal cabin on a lake in Maine, you have found it! This was one of the most peaceful vacation I’ve ever treated myself to. Andrew is the ideal host. He offered great information and responded quickly. The cabin was so quaint. The amenities were so comfortable. Sitting on the sandy beach, watching the colors of the lake change by the minute it was such a joy. I would highly recommend this listing to anybody wanting that quintessential main experience!

Beautiful Retreat

The cabin is rustic and true to a quiet step back in time. We really enjoyed morning tea in front of the fireplace as it was cool outside. The beach and water are pristine and gorgeous. We were able to relax and enjoy the piece and quiet of the setting in the woods, with long walks on the entry road. Andrew was available and responded to any requests we had. Fresh seafood was a short distance in Milbridge, which was wonderful. We highly recommend this VRBO if you’re looking to get off the beaten track and relax.

This place was absolutely amazing! It is remote, which is what we wanted. Great place to take your 4 legged “kids.” I would definitely recommend and would definitely go back again.

Incredible Summer Getaway

We absolutely loved our stay here. Situated well back in the woods, you feel a world away. The lake is pristine and great for swimming, kayaking or just hanging out next to with a good book. There is no shortage of good hiking, sightseeing and activities in the area, but I would say that just relaxing and taking in the beauty of nature here was the highlight of our trip.

Rustic charm

This log cabin was everything we hoped it would be. We loved sitting in front of the beautiful wood-burning fireplace. The cabin is very clean & has plenty of hot water. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking & dining in. You can’t beat the view from the private beach. The lake with the mountains in the background is spectacular. We really enjoyed our stay at this rustic & charming log cabin.

Perfect quiet getaway

This cabin was the highlight of our trip to Maine! It was quiet and relaxing with just the sound of the waves and the loons. The accommodations were great, the big stone fireplace kept the place warm, and we spent a lot of time just sitting in the chairs on the beach watching the sunsets. There was plenty to explore with the kayaks and nearby trails and even a winery. We would definitely come back there again.

Idyllic Maine Lake Cabin

All the glory of camping in the woods with none of the hassle. A classic log cabin on a gorgeous private cove, great for swimming and boating. The dogs had a fabulous time, and so did we!

Beautiful property!

This is a spectacular property - amazing lake, really lovely woods, close to great hikes. The cabin is pretty close to expected - old Maine cabin, well kept. We visited in October, and the owner kept the cabin open later in the season to accommodate us. It's only heated by a wood fireplace, as the current wood stove is too old to burn safely, hence his concern for our comfort. We were fine, however, despite temperatures dipping into the low 40s over night, we just had to wear hats inside. Warmer by far than camping! Lake access is awesome, the boats were great, and we were out on the water a bunch despite the wind (and October chill). One thing that was complicated - the photo of 2 double beds is old, there is a single king bed suitable for 2 adults and a kid snuggling. We had 2 additional kids sleeping by their choice in front of the fire, so it was all fine. The cabin is quite dark inside - cozy at night, but dim in the morning, in part a function of October light. Plenty of hot water in the amazing outdoor shower. Owner's friendly dog visiting us was a definite bonus!

Beautiful and Peaceful

The cabin is in a beautiful setting nestled in the tress on the edge of a spring-fed lake. The cabin was clean, cozy and comfortable. There is satelite WiFi which works fine for everything except streaming. We loved the of the lake and mountains from the front picture window and screened-in porch. We took advantage of the kayaks to explore the lake. There are very few homes along the lake. There is easy and scenic hiking on the property as well as more challenging hiking up Tunk mountain less than a mile away. The owner was very easy to deal with and responded quickly to all of our questions. We would definitely stayt here again.

Relaxation is yours, and here's where to learn it

Simply a beautiful location and excellent accommodations -- a beautiful strip of lakeside Maine property at the north edge of Acadia National Park. My wife's family, her sister's family, and their 40-year-ago childhood friends (and parts of their respective families) enjoyed a fabulous week here in mid-July 2016. We actually rented all three of the cabins on this private cove on Spring River Lake, and we had that whole end of the lake to ourselves. And we had a ball. The lake was a beautiful, clear-water, rough-sand beach setting, with plenty of "toys" available such as kayaks, canoes, a floaty raft, and beach chairs/umbrellas. On one day we all paddled over to the opposite end of the lake and played on the "jumping rock"; but on most days we just chilled and chatted and splashed in the gently sloping water in our own private cove! The drive to Acadia isn't much longer than the drive to the grocery store -- what a beautiful area of the country. The cabins were well-designed and reasonably appointed. Some of the dishes/dinnerware could stand to be updated, but everything was clean and generally had everything we needed. The general feel was "rustic" more than "elegant" but this is exactly what we were after. The local hiking (esp. Tunk Mountain) was fabulous. This particular cabin was the most rustic (dark, and in need of remodel) of the three, but was extremely charming nonetheless. The cabin owner was generous with contributing his 'local knowledge' of the lake, cabins, and surrounding community/history with us. Communication was flawless before, during, and after the rental and was in no way overbearing. Response time to phone calls or emails was always within 24 hours. The information binders provided at the cabins were well-written and helpful. We did have a few problems with ants in one of the cabins, but we brought this up to the caretaker and he addressed it promptly and effectively. Also, while we were lucky to be enjoying all three cabins together this week, I imagine some of the pure bliss might have been lost if we didn't have the whole cove to ourselves. But the cabins are very nicely spaced, at least 100 yards apart, so I don't think this would have greatly diminished the charm of the site. We had a great week at these lovely lakeside cabins, and will cherish the family/friend togetherness it fostered for years to come. We strongly recommend them to others.

It doesn't get better this

Time spent at Spring River Lake in Maine is unparalleled in our view. We (family of 4) spent two absolutely glorious weeks relaxing in the most natural way possible. Fabulous beach w/ boat house (kayaks, canoes & more), temperate water for swimming all day, cool evenings perfectly suited for cozy fires, playing games, working on puzzles, baking bread and reading. If you appreciate the power of a simple setting (no screens or cell service) to inspire fun, deepen relationships, and refresh the soul, look no further.

Perfect Honeymoon Escape

After a hectic but wonderful time period of wedding preparation and celebrations, this was the perfect place to escape to and be alone with my bride. I have encountered few settings equally suited for relaxing. We spent the afternoons on the porch and the evenings by the fire. Bob the caretaker and Andrew the owner were friendly, flexible and professional. We plan on returning for an anniversary some day.

tranquility

We rented in mid-October, thinking that we were taking a chance on bad weather. But we hit the peak of the foliage and had sunny skies and 60 degree temps most all week. And when it rained we either enjoyed our stay at the cabin or went shopping. The cabin and surrounding property was everything that was claimed and more. The whole experience exceeded my highest expectations.

Perfect and idyllic

My wife and I needed to get away from it all. And coming here was clearly the answer to the fast pace lives most of us live. We could have gone to Bar Harbor or any of the other popular spots in Maine but chose to stay at the lake the whole week. Gin clear water, old growth trees and what a Maine lake camp should be, this is clearly a place we will come back to. Simplistic beauty in the cabin and grounds but yet everything is supplied. Andrew does a great job of keeping the camp uncluttered and tastefully done. Our typical day was started with eating breakfast in front of the fire. Reading, kayaking, conversation, and just laying around the beach by the water. Cocktails along with a great grilled steak for dinner then ending the day watching the sunset. Can't wait to return. A Blissful Week of Getting Back to the Simple Life

I almost don't want to share the secret of Andrew's wonderful property! If you're looking for a break from the modern world, this is the place. The cabin is simple, with the basics you need and tons of extra charm--it was a bit like going back in time to the summer vacations we had as kids. A typical day went this way: Enjoy coffee and breakfast on the screened in porch overlooking the lake; take a book to the beach, lounge in a hammock, enjoy a swim, play with the dogs and kids from the other cabins, eventually meander up for to the cabin for lunch, go for a kayak, or to a nearby mountain for a hike, enjoy a gin & tonic while watching the gorgeous sunset over the lake, make dinner on the grill and enjoy it on the screened in porch, have a game of cribbage while listening to the loons and spotting lightning bugs, stargaze, and go to bed early to do it all again tomorrow. We made day trips to Bar Harbor, and the closer village of Winter Harbor. We biked the Schoodic Point loop from Rt 1 to Winter Harbor. But mostly we stayed close to home and enjoyed the crystal clear, warm waters of Spring River Lake. Our dog had a blast too! We will most certainly be back! This place is a gem!

Rustic and Relaxing

Quiet and secluded cove on a spring fed lake with minimal number of cabins in the vicinity. The cabin was "rustic", but very well maintained. We had no issues with any of the amenities. While the cabin is considered "rustic", it did provide "modern" conveniences such as hot water showers (inside and out), full kitchen (oven/stove, fridge, etcetera). Andrew (owner) and Bob (caretaker) were both very welcoming and attentive to any of our requests. The cabin in hidden from view from anyone passing by on the lake, but affords pretty good views of the lake to occupants. The beach gear (kayaks, canoe, hammock, chairs) were all in excellent shape and we thoroughly enjoyed cruising around the lake and then lazily swinging in the breeze afterwards. Overall, the cabin is ideal for people who truly want to "get off the grid" for awhile and just enjoy a calm and peaceful lake setting.

A little slice of Maine heaven!

If you are looking for a quiet unplugged vacation, Andrew's cabin on a private Spring River Lake beach is the place. Grab your groceries and plan on never leaving if playing on the beach, swimming, kayaking, fishing and reading are your things. Plenty of other things to do nearby as well. Plan on taking the best sunset pictures.

Beautiful cottage on a stunning lake

My husband and I and our dog stayed in the cottage for a week in July and had the most relaxing and enjoyable time. The cottage is comfortable, clean, and beautiful. The lake is huge, crystal clear, refreshing, and private. We grilled our meals, showered outdoors, kayaked, and read books on the floating dock. It was heavenly. It was the first time in a while we completely disconnected--no internet, and no cell service. Bar Harbor and Acadia are an easy 45 minute drive away. You should definitely stay here!

Perfectly peaceful

My family that includes my two dogs, “their father” and I rented this very unique property for the first week of June 2014. The dogs were delighted to be able to play on their own stretch of beach. Having never experienced water that they can actually see thru other than the bath, they had a lot of fun wading around the crystal clear lake and chasing the little fish that swam in the shallows. The cabin was clean and comfortable. Our weather was great for the first half of the week but got cold and wet towards the end which was fine because it gave us a chance to enjoy the gorgeous fireplace and see ‘Thunder hole’ at Acadia in the conditions its meant to be seen in. I loved the screened back porch. I will forever have fond memories of eating lobster dinners overlooking the beautiful sunset on the lake. We also really enjoyed the thoughtful assortment of ‘toys’ in the boat house and took the canoe out for a spin on the lake a few times. Communication with owner, Andrew, was excellent. He could not have been more attentive or hospitable. We ran late on our arrival day due to traffic and Bob, the caretaker, was gracious about waiting for us. I know he was around if we needed him but we had no issues that required his attention. This was our first trip to Maine and it was awesome; beautiful scenery, good food and nice people. You really can’t ask for much more than that. Thanks again Andrew & Bob!

Lovely weekend at spring river lake

My boyfriend and I went to Andrew's cabin for a long weekend last October. We booked the one bedroom cabin with the big fire place. It was last minute and Andrew has been really accommodating. He was there to welcome us and show us around the property. The cabin was very clean and well equipped. We had more then enough wood to keep the fire going all weekend long. It was perfect for the chilly weather of October! The lake is beautiful and the water is very clear. We went canoeing and we could see plenty of fish swimming under the canoe. Bring your fishing gear! The beach is quiet and well maintained and perfect to watch the sunset. You won't see another one as sandy and big as this one on the lake! I strongly recommend Andrew's cabins, we liked our stay so much that we already booked for October 2014 :)

Maine Paradise

We rent in Maine every year, but this has to be one of the best places we've rented in a long time. If you are looking for peace and quiet/a relaxing vacation, this is the place for you. The surroundings are breathtaking, the cabin is so comfy/cozy and clean, plus we had the most beautiful weather week as well. Kayaking, canoeing, hiking and sitting on the beach with a nice cocktail to watch the sunsets were the best. Our Airedale Terrier, Clementine loved exploring the beach, chasing frogs and exploring the woods......each night she was totally exhausted and slept so well on her own pup bed. Highly highly recommend this hidden paradise.

Hidden Gem near Hidden Lakes Trail

Our children summarize best how we feel about "our" cabin on Spring River Lake: "It's our second home." We stumbled upon this camp three summers ago, have returned every summer since, and imagine returning for years to come. We're already counting the days until our visit next summer... It truly is a spectacular week. Spending meaningful time as a family and sharing our love for the outdoors can be challenging with our busy lives; yet, Spring River Lake affords us time to slow down and do just that. We awake each morning feeling the day stretching before us, and we let each day unfold in its own way, feeling no pressure to do anything but what comes to mind at the moment. It is wonderful to truly unwind and spend time together as a foursome on the lake and in the woods. Favorite activities include: - making a charming, rustic cabin our home for the week - eating our meals al fresco on the screen porch overlooking the lake - swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking - hiking area trails, such as Tunk Mt., Black Mt., and Little Moose Island at Schoodic Peninsula - making friends, catching frogs, digging in the sand, building forts in the woods - looking for bald eagles - reading books on the beach - making pancakes with huckleberries or blueberries foraged from the property - exploring the beaver ponds - climbing the boulders that dot the lake's edge and marveling at the ones submerged below the water line - enjoying the scenery and beautiful landscape - watching the sunset with a glass of wine or mug of hot cocoa in hand - playing games and making s'mores fireside in the evenings - gazing at the stars above - falling asleep to the call of the loons or the hoot of the owls - being completely disconnected from cell phones, internet, and TV The Pierce family are gracious hosts, and we're grateful for their opening up their little corner of Maine for us and others to enjoy.

The property and the surrounding area are very dear to me. We donated thousands of acres to the State of Maine for a Maine State Land Reserve which is now enjoyed and respected by enthusiastic visitors. We work hard to keep our remaining private peninsula pristine and in complete respect to the natural beauty of the area. I grew up in the Bangor and Downeast area and have a strong connection to the Acadia region.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

In 1994 we gifted 7500 acres of the property to the State of Maine for a preserved land reserve. We kept the 300 acre peninsula where now three rental cabins are located. The surrounding area is an undiscovered wilderness. The hiking is incredible with tremendous views of Downeast Maine and Acadia National Park. There are many remote lakes and ponds snuggled in the hills that provide total privacy. In addition, Acadia National Park is only a short drive away and can easily be visited for a day or afternoon. Our lake and the other surrounding lakes, ponds, and mountains are minimally developed if developed at all. Directly in front of the Cabin is a 1000-foot soft sandy beach with beautiful swimming. Additionally our peninsula has several private beaches within a couple minutes walking distance or short kayak paddle. There is a mile long gated private driveway, allowing for considerable privacy. The large private property has VRBO listings (gogle: "VRBO 102873ha", "VRBO 102874ha", and "VRBO 4017223ha" ). Two proximal reserves have been designated here: 1,940 acres east of Donnell Pond and 4,274 acres northeast of our lake. The mountains and lakes formed by the Tunk Mountain Pluton constitute one of the most distinctive landmarks of the East Coastal Region. The two reserves include mid-elevation (~1,200 foot) summits of Tunk Mountain, Black Mountain, and Caribou Mountain as well as Tilden Pond, and Little Long Pond.
