We just returned home from our trip to this beautiful oasis. Not only was the house gorgeous, but Karl was also a great host! He reached out to let us know the house would be ready early and to check if we needed an additional bed since there was 5 of us staying here. He also was super easy to get ahold of and shared some kid friendly activities in the area for us to check out. There are so many different kid-friendly hikes to go on, scenic drives, tide-pooling locations, beaches, etc in the surrounding areas (around an hour drive maximum). The wildlife around the house was so active. Right away our stay started with a bang. We had a seal who came to say hello almost everyday and one of the days, he even showed off his fish he caught. We also saw lots of crabs out on the rocks during low tide while exploring with our boys. There are deer absolutely everywhere on Pidgeon Hill road, we even saw 3 fawns on the last few days of our trip. The only thing I would put caution towards is if you have younger children. I have a 2 and a 4 year old who did great here, but this house is not set up for young kiddos. We knew going into it that it was not childproof nor necessarily considered 'safe'. However, if you go in knowing this and plan accordingly, it is still a great place to bring them. The scariest part with our boys was the rocks/ocean right next to the house, but they were never unsupervised or outside alone for this to be an issue.
