This was such a serene and relaxing place to stay. We loved exploring the trails and spending time on the water, and my son especially enjoyed bringing bread to the dock each morning to feed the fish. It was exactly what we neededâa peaceful getaway to recharge before heading back to school.
The location is wonderful. The beach is perfect for little kids. There are kayaks, a paddle board, and life jackets for hours of fun. Itâs close enough to Mystic to be able to go to the aquarium and museums. Bill and Alison were very helpful and attentive hosts.
This was our second time staying at the lake house and we are very happy that we returned. The house with private beach is perfect for young kids. Itâs absolutely beautiful with so many things to do.
This is the second time we stayed at this location and it was just as amazing this time as it was the first. My son loved it so much that he rented it with his family last year as well. We hope to make this a family tradition, as itâs close to home, yet definitely feels like paradise.
This was one of the better stays weâve had! The area was beautiful, the house and property were as pictured and better than listed, and we thoroughly enjoyed reconnecting. The house and area had the best of both worldsâeverything youâd want for an analog stay/relax, but internet and amenities for the modern world. We loved our time there and will gladly go back!
Visiting from NC for family wedding. This was the perfect spot for us, on tranquil, beautiful Wincheck Pond. The pine paneled 2-story house is well appointed, clean and comfortable.
Yes, it has its own sandy beach, with propane fire pit, 2 canoes, 2 kayaks, and paddleboards. The owner was kindly attentive in assuring we had all we needed. Henry David Thoreau would've appreciated the quiet, natural setting, with wildlife and foliage galore. Two amazing hiking trails were only 1/2 mile away. It was a quiet and relaxing stay.
This charming house is set on the most gorgeous lake; every window offers water views. It's so lovely and serene that you never want to leave (even for one of the fantastic local hikes.) Check in/out was easy and the owners are friendly and accessible. The home is very comfortable, cozy and well-supplied. My favorite-ever vacation rental!
Perfect home and setting for us to get away for a weekend! The pictures are exactly what you get but itâs so much more to just be there and enjoy. Loved taking a paddle board and canoe ride around the lake. Loved sitting in the little nook inside that overlooked the lake. Trail very close by and also a great adventure!
Looking to relax and recharge? Look no further, as this is a MUST stay. Bill and Allison were wonderful hosts and the property is exactly as listed. The charm and character of the property is only outdone by its location. You are close enough to enjoy Mohegan Sun and Mystic or far enough away to feel like time stops as you recharge yourself. An absolute must stay for those looking just to relax.
This was our second year staying at the Lake House. It is a lovely property, nicely maintained with new amenities. The AC was needed and appreciated. Wincheck Pond was refreshing and fun for boarding, boating and swimming. Local hikes and cycling to Ell Pond, Patchaug State Forest, etc. is a highlight of staying here. We hope to stay here again soon!
This was the perfect spot for a relaxing vacation. So private and quiet. Plenty of watercrafts, the sandy beach was amazing, propane firepit on the beach was a plus, plenty of outdoor chairs. The house was clean and had everything we needed. It was easy to communicate with Bill. Fireworks on 4th of July were a bonus! We'd love to return!
The house is pictured accurately and the description is just what you get - a perfectly clean, beautiful house where everything works as it should and a private beach in paradise.
The beds were good, bedding comfortable. The house had anything you wanted to make a meal. The grill had been cleaned and had plenty of propane. You just have to bring your clothes and start enjoying yourself.
We are a couple in our seventies traveling with a daughter and son-in-law and our 3 year old granddaughter, who turned 4 a couple of days after we left the cottage. We were all delighted with the cottage, the watercraft, the quality of the outdoor furniture and the attention to detail.
The lake was perfect for a child, as it is shallow for the first 10 feet or so.
Before we left our daughter asked if she could have Allison's contact information. She loved the house and appreciated its cleanliness so much she wanted to send her a thank you note. I told her I'd have a chance to leave a review and would pass on her praise.
We've rented over 100 properties on VRBO and similar over the past 15 years. This house was in our top 10%. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you for a really great week at your magical property,
Allison!
Perfect location, beautiful view. We went with our 1 & 2 year olds, so a private beach was perfect. Had everything we needed, some things in the house itself could use updating/replacement, but did not take away from the vacation - the lake is the main attraction.
5 stars! This vacation rental exceeded all our expectations! The setting is idyllic, offering a serene and private retreat perfectly in harmony with nature. The view from the property is absolutely breathtakingâsomething you have to see to believe. Inside, the house is impeccably clean and wonderfully comfortable, providing everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The location is ideal, with convenient access to shopping, hiking trails, and various entertainment options. We can't wait to come back and enjoy this slice of paradise again!
Perfect place to leave the world behind, to sit, to play, to dream. The water, surrounded by pines, is a touch of Maine. Herons, ducks, and tiny turtles swimming at the shoreline - nature abounds in the silence. Short walk to hiking trails, short drive to local restaurants - great one in Wyoming is called Wood River Bar & Grill. Sunday is karaoke night - the locals are a hoot! And talented! Highly recommend this cottage for the dreamer or the outdoorsman. Hosts are communicative, kind and helpful. This place cannot disappoint.
I wanted my friends from work to experience Rhode Island how I, a native, knows itâŠoutside of Providence or Newport which is where any of them have been. I told them there are parts of Rhode island that youâd think you were in Vermont or Upstate NY. Well this lake house is exactly what I wanted them to experience. The perfect New England getaway in the Fall Time. The reflection of the foliage was just starting and gave us a tease of what was to come over the next couple of weeks. The hustle and bustle of summer was over and we seemed to be the only people on the pond, although it is in such a peaceful location and the fact that thereâs no motorboats on the pond, Iâm sure thereâs never much of a âhustle and bustle.â The house was clean and had a cabin vibe inside. It was perfect for âspooky seasonâ but I would love to come back during the summer as well!
Sandy beach with a gradual incline into clear clean water. Gorgeous views. Fully equipped charming home . Peaceful and private. Immersed in nature. Bald eagles, ospreys and other rare and beautiful animals and blooming plants. Wild blueberries galore and one of the largest rhododendron forests in New England.
