Our family went and enjoyed this wonderful property. Very relaxing and they had everthing we needed or forgot to bring. The sulfur smell was strong as other reviews stated but we were able to have a fun time and forgot about it.
This is a lovely and relaxing space. Fully fenced and pet friendly. The house is comfortable and relaxing. The sulfur water felt really great on my skin. Yes itâs smelly, but I knew that going into it and it was not a problem at all for me. Full amenities and private. I really recommend it to anyone looking for a getaway. Short drives to downtown for shopping or dining out. I had a couple of snafu in the beginning with the code getting in but The host responded right away. Communication with her was very easy and very responsive. I hope to book the house again next year. Itâs a great midway point for me and my friend to meet.
Everything was as expected and nice overall! I don't think we will go again as the main draw was the hotspring soaker tubs. The heater was out for the room and only half of the adorable 2 claw foot soak tubs filled with hot water. We tried boiling water on the stove but the room was so cold that it made it impossible to get enough hot water before the water in the tub was cold. 2 hours I finally gave up. I did get a morning soak but no doubles in the winter! The owner was nice and everything was overall good. Just need a good water heater for winter travelers!
Nice and quiet location with big yard, comfortable beds and all the amenities at hand. One bad point is the sulfur smell in the water but bottled water is provided.
Sip sip girls tripThis was an awesome place to stay perfect area it was an amazing little cabin the mineral bass were awesome my daughter myself and a friend really enjoy this place my daughter plans to come back with her family to stay again definitely worth it
This is a difficult review for me, since it is my first negative review. We had such high hopes for this place. The location is great, the house had plenty of room & the outside area was amazing along with the views. However when we arrived, we quickly noticed that other than the most used areas the house was dirty (window seals, blinds, laundry room & under some beds) as well as it was infested with spiders. There were spider webs & spiders in every room, including just above bunk beds which didnât help my kids get that warm and fuzzy feeling going to sleep, even after I helped clean the area. Frankly â our group ended up with several spider bites & at one point - one ran across my chest while I was trying to go to sleep. Fortunately, I smooshed him but it also didnât help the going to sleep process. Another negative for this place is the sulfur smell associated to all water sources for the house. I should have read the previous reviews closer since I thought the smell would be isolated to the mineral bath, but all water sources in the house (both sides) had a strong sulfur smell. To a point, most of us didnât shower or only showered once while we were there. Using the washing machine also made the main area smell for an extended period of time. In general using showers the smell didnât stick around for long, and when I showered I donât think I smelt like sulfur, or what my kids called a fart smell, but my kids didnât like it and it was strong enough for my one visitor to step outside to talk versus inside. Lastly â they had a handy man working on the property about 4 days during our visit. This is normally fine, given the property is large and I understand some maintenance needs to happen (watering, trimming, etcâŠ) but it was always at about 7:30am and would always wake our kids.
Great place! 6 adults stayed here for a long weekend and it suited our needs perfectly. The home was very clean and had everything we needed. It felt like a "home" with the quilts on the walls also. Plenty of showers and hot water for everyone. Some of us could smell the sulfur while showering, some couldn't. We certainly didn't smell it on ourselves afterwards. The place had plenty of drinking water provided. The setting is very relaxing. We heard coyotes one night, cows another. Will definitely stay here again.
My Wild Rogue Relay team stayed here the night here before our event. It was a quick drive to the starting line. Then, after the first part of the relay we went back to the house to rest before the next part. It was a perfect location for that stopover!
We had a group of 9 to accommodate, and Ruch Refuge was perfect! Beautiful country setting, yet just about 10 minutes to the touristy little town of Jacksonville. The location and accommodations were great! The "bunk house" sleeps 7 (king/en-suite)(full/single bunk)(single/single bunk) with two full bathrooms. The main house is a studio with queen bed and full bath (showers only in all 3 bathrooms). There is a "bath house" for soaking in mineral water, but we didn't use that.
The reason for only 4 stars are: 1) The smell of the water. SO bad! I had read a review where it stated they had done something to fix the water, but I can't imagine how bad it was before if that's the case. After the smell from my husband's shower, I decided to not shower the entire time we were there. You don't want to wash your face or brush your teeth in that water. I totally want to go back because it was so beautiful and peaceful, but not until the water situation is fixed for good and all. 2) It would've been nice if they had stacked firewood in the box on the porch for us. We found wood, but it was wet from being out in the yard.
We enjoyed our stay at the Ruch Refuge. Deanna was very accommodating and responsive whenever I had a question, even before arriving (and I had several!). We had several adults staying, and the 2 separate houses and multiple bathrooms worked out perfectly for all of us so we weren't tripping over each other or waiting on one another at any point. The setting was pretty rustic, but provided comforts like wifi, TV, and a full kitchen. The only detractors I would say is that the water must have a pretty high sulfur content, because we could smell it when we took a shower (though we couldn't smell it on ourselves after), and it didn't seem like anyone had been there in a while because there were quite a few spiders and cobwebs we cleaned out inside the main house. But overall this was a perfect place to stay for what we needed and was convenient to Jacksonville, Medford and Williams.
This is a very comfortable house in a super location. It was very quiet, with great access to local hiking, rivers, lakes, and towns. We had a great dinner at Schoolhaus Brewhaus in Jacksonville, a lovely hike along the Applegate river, and did some rafting on the Rogue. Awesome park down the road right on the river, no crowds! Relaxing on the recliners on the breezeway with the lovely view made for a great day. The main house stayed nice and cool during the day, and there were plenty of fans and window A/C units in the second unit, which were needed! Plenty of hot water and good pressure in the showers. Main drawback was that the water in the showers had that mineral smell, which we're not used to. Deanna was very responsive and pleasant to deal with.
Property was private, relaxing, and a great place for family fun.
Deanna made our stay easy and pleasant, and was available to answer questions. My kids really enjoyed playing outside and running around together on the spacious property. We only stayed a couple of days and would definitely return.
We had a very relaxing stay, the home was comfortable and came equipped with all the necessities. The bath house was quite a treat, a perfect place to recharge.
Best of both worlds - country setting only minutes away from parks, wineries, Jacksonville..
Great venue for a large family or group. We had a reunion and the house with it's large open kitchen adjacent to the living room and dining area worked out perfectly for preparing meals. In a lovely rural setting easy to access wifi was very convenient for those of us who want or need to be connected to the outside world.
The separate bedrooms in the second house housed 4 -6 adults with plenty of room.. The bath house also provided relaxation with pastoral views. The location is perfect with plenty of parks, wineries, the historic town of Jacksonville just minutes away. All our guests enjoyed their stay. I would definitely recommend the Ruch Refuge!
Lovely cabin-y house in a beautiful pastoral setting
Perfect location for the Wild Rogue Relay. Lots of sleeping places and 3 bathrooms makes this place great for a group to stay. Plenty of extra blankets. Nice breezeway porch between the 2 sections of the house. Really enjoyed my stay here.
We enjoyed our stay at Ruch Refuge..very comfortable, beautiful setting just outside Jacksonville..son and grandson came and loved the bunkbeds..we flew kites in the meadow..and walked down to the park on the river..so glad we stayed here !!
Great experience staying at this cabin. We were a group of 7 paragliders visiting for the Ratrace, and location and house were both perfect. Spacious living area and covered deck were both much enjoyed,
Be ready for some 'sulfur' smelling water... I hear it is a desirable trait for well water to be this way. There is a filtered water faucet at the kitchen sink which dispenses non-sulfur water, which is nice.
