Rented this house for a girls get away. This gorgeous house is in the perfect location with all the amenities. The outside grounds are beautiful and it was such a treat to have deer visit us every morning and evening while relaxing in the backyard. The host was very responsive and helpful. We will definitely be back!
This is our second stay at the B.F. Dowell House.... which really tells you everything! It is simply vacation perfection. The house and grounds are simply wonderful. The house is immaculate. The decorations are appropriate the historical era of the home, while also being and beautiful and comfortable. The location could not be better. Well within walking distance of everything Jacksonville has to offer. Relaxing mornings and evenings spent laughing in the garden were even further enhanced by deer and turkey family units meandering through. We have already booked our next stay and cannot wait. Deanne was wonderful to work with. You cannot go wrong with this home!
We invited 3 long time couple friends to come visit us in Jacksonville. They stayed in the BF Dowell House and loved it. They wanted to make sure I left a good review because they were so impressed with how clean and well organized it was. They yard was so lovely too. We definitely recommend it!!
We were in Jacksonville visiting family and were lucky enough to find this home. It is absolutely gorgeous and fully stocked with everything you need to feel at home. I would love to stay for a month and just read books, take naps, and cook nice meals. Will definitely return.
The BF Dowell Home was charming with very unique architecture and beautiful landscaped gardens! There were daily sightings of deer to entertain us! Plenty of outside space and places to relax! Jacksonville was a beautiful small town and we could walk to most of the places we wanted to visit! Walking trails were close by as well as numerous wineries!
We had a wonderful weekend in Jacksonville with family wine tasting throughout Jacksonville. The location of the property is ideal, walking distance to downtown, coffee, and Back Porch BBQ.
The market across the street was super helpful for all the food and drink items...no pre-packing needed.
Beautiful old victorian, very clean, and all the amenities were there. We will definitely return!
A beautiful home with the perfect location! This is our second visit, and we hope to stay again! Deanna was a wonderful host, and very responsive to all of our needs! Thank you!
We loved our stay here. The house is immaculate, very well decorated, historical background was interesting to read, lovely garden and porch for enjoying a meal or morning coffee. Beds were comfortable and super soft sheets. Perfect place for exploring Jacksonvilleâs small Main Street, and convenient access to many pleasant laid back Wineries. Will definitely look to stay there again when my group of friends return for a weekend mini-reunion.
Quaint two night stay to visit family in the area. Home was period decorated with colorful wall coverings and fixtures. This home also had all the comforts of home, equipped kitchen, games and great porch. Would love to visit again in the summer. Walking to town for dinner and coffe was very easy. Drove and hiked nearby forest park. Great getaway.
We met in Jacksonville with high school friends from CA. The house and gardens were so beautiful and peaceful.
Everything was so lovely. We would certainly visit again
We visited best friends and family. Attended our old church, Jacksonville Presbyterian. Went to the new Jacksonville Inn Restaurant and enjoy Pony Expresso and Food Bean. We had a family event at a winery in the Applegate Valley. Thank you we love the charm and feel of your beautiful historical home.
We stayed with our children and 2 small grandchildren. The house was perfect in all respects, and allowed us to have a wonderful time together as a family. The backyard is especially impressive, and the kitchen is well-updated for an historical property.
This house was probably the best short term rental I've ever stayed in. It was the best blend of old and new. There are three bedtime, each with it's own bathroom. The bath attached to the bedroom on the first door has only a tub and not a shower but there's also a separate little bath with a shower on the first floor. The host Aldi had a very nice outdoor eating area and porch. The location is very close to downtown, within easy waking distance. We had a fabulous time visiting the area.
Two minor problems: upstairs in the north bathroom the door knob needs repair to upstairs in the south bathroom supply to the toilet tank needs attention
Well appointed, comfortable beds, large welcoming outdoor space and great location. Unfortunately there was construction happening in a property behind the house so it wasnt pleasant out there until they left around 4pm. An issue about Jacksonville now is rentals cannot offer recycling!!! Because that matters to us we brought home bittkes and newspapers.
We stayed a week in May. As others have shared, this is a wonderful historic place to stay situated in an ideal location for easy access to Jacksonvilleâs shops, restaurants, and hiking. Grocery store convenient directly across the street.
Home is beautiful and comfortable. 2 bedrooms en-suite on 2nd floor. Large Master suite on main level w/bathroom w/ large tub, toilet & sink. A shower is located in the laundry room nearby. Well stocked kitchen. This home lacks nothing.
Add the fabulous outdoor garden area, porch, and sitting area, and its a 5 star rental. Lawn area for croquet & cornhole games (provided). Deer and birds seen often. We have stayed in numerous VRBO properties & we highly recommend this as an excellent choice.
Beware! The property was very nice and everything started off great. Jacksonville is a beautiful little town and offers some great experience. It was after check out that the issues started.
I stayed in the home with my adult sister, adult friend, her husband and mother. We only slept there and spent most time at our Friends parentâs home for a wedding weekend.
After check out we were accused of cracking a marble table in the home, which we absolutely did not do. We were first told the table was knocked over. Then when I asked how so or to provide proof it was knocked over the property manager said they âassumedâ it was knocked over. Upon asking the property manager how she could lay blame on us with an assumption, the property manager said âwe donât know or donât care how it happened.â I offered to send the listing photos to the property manager where you can see what looks like the crack already being in this table and the property manager refused to provide her email address (some customer relations) to show her what I was talking about.
I guess physics does not exist in the property since the property manager is blaming us for cracking a table in the center, which they âassumeâ fell over, but has no damage to the edge. The lack of edge damage would tell any reasonable person there is no way it fell. There only proof is the cleaners said so and noticed it on this cleaning. The crack looks to be in the listing photos and may have just now been noticed.
Steer clear of this home if you donât want to have Baseless accusations thrown your way.
