My wife and I stayed for a couple nights in this comfortable family cottage. A great place to stay to visit Saugatuck and South Haven. Orchards, bakeries, and wineries are easily accessed from here. Having a private beach area is a plus. The hosts live close by and are very accommodating.
This was exactly what I needed. The rental was as listed and amazing. The lake was wonderful. The cabin was great. And the air conditioning worked wonderfully. It was cozy, quiet, and relaxing. Will definitely be back.
This is a beautiful stay. Just a 1-2 minute walk from the beach. It has very pleasant surrounding forestry, was peaceful and quiet. The home was very clean and had a true cottage vibe to it. Would love to return in the future.
My friends and I stayed the weekend for my bachelorette party, and this was the perfect spot! Right in between Saugatuk and South Haven, and just a short walk to the lake! We loved the cabin and was the perfect size for the 5 of us.
The cottage is very comfortable and nicely decorated. Itâs a very short walk through the woods to the lake. The owners are very responsive. We locked ourselves out one day and they immediately took care of us. Highly recommended.
At after several months of a critical health issue, my husband and I needed a 'get away' and this was a wonderful choice. The cottage provided everything we needed. It was clean...and cute! We were so pleased to find that we were very close to the water - just a short path and a few steps to an amazing beach. The neighborhood was quiet and we were very close to communities for good food and some extra scenery. Thanks for sharing your peaceful cottage. We will be back!
We had a relaxing stay despite the rain and gale force winds! But we worked on some puzzles and did get a break in the weather to head down to the beach. I would love to go again in the Summer-time!
The cottage was so cozy. Everything we needed. So many things to do in the area. I loverd it and so did my grandkids ages 10 and 6! Have been there before and will be back
The entire experience was great! The people were very friendly and had many conversations with beach goers to rock collectors and friendly neighbors. From South Haven to Saugatuck and everything in between. We were able to see the full moon over the lake and the view was spectacular.
Our stay was just what we had hoped for. We enjoyed the tasteful decorations in the cottage, the black squirrels who entertained us, the tall trees that surrounded us. Walking the beach and listening to the waves was a real treat. Very relaxing. We hope to return one day
This property has the best of everything. Nostalgic feel while providing all the things you need. Lake view, beach front, woods, quiet. Itâs amazing! My family came one day and they all loved it too. The bed was comfy and there were plenty of blankets. The extra shelves above and beside the bathroom sink are so handy for unpacking all your stuff so youâre not constantly digging through a bag. Kitchen is quite well set up with dishes, trash bags, BBQ tools etc. Wonderful trip and friendly hosts!
I have rented cottages in southwest Michigan for the last 25 years. Hands-down this is one of my favorites from the minute you walk in the door you feel like youâre in this cozy little house. The beach is a short walk and beautiful. The hosts were right there if we needed them. I will rent agsin!
This is a private cottage with access to Lake Michigan. It had a private sitting area to watch the sunsets and access to a great beach with lots on sand. The beds were comfortable, cottage was spotless, and the kitchen had everything for cooking. It was a perfect location for hiking in the parks and a 10 minute drive to the tulip festival. As soon as I arrived the owner came out to greet us. This is a great place to relax but close to many restaurants and activities in the area. I would defiantly come back here again.
Fabulous and relaxing stay at Burd's Cottage on Lake Michigan
We could not imagine a more Lake Michigan-esque experience - cozy cottage with all the amenities needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay, steps from a private piece of beach, and friendly hosts willing to help make the stay comfortable and fun. We appreciated having access to the charcoal grill, spent plenty of time relaxing and reading inside and on the patio, and especially loved being able to have our dogs with us for their first time at the lake! We can't wait to return in a future summer to continue our story with Burd's Cottage. Thank you!
Cottage was great! Everything was as it should be and we had not issues finding it. We really enjoyed the coziness but had plenty of room. Beach and deck overlooking the beach were just a very short walk up the lane, which is wooded and was beautiful this time of year. I could sit all day on the deck. But alas, the weather was not cooperative this time for us. We did manage to get plenty of outside time though despite the winds and occasional shower. We still enjoyed the time we spent in the cabin none-the-less. We hope to book again next year.

Our family of 5 (2 adults, 2 kids, one dog) had such a great time at this cottage. The best part of it is the location. A short pathway and some steps down the bluff and you are at Lake Michigan. Every single day, we were able to swim, relax in the sand, and watch the sunset without the hassle of having to pack for a special beach trip.
The cottage itself is cozy, but has plenty of living space and sleeping space for a family or small group. Every thing was clean and we had no issues the entire time.
The owners live next door, but were friendly, welcoming and not at all intrusive.
The location itself is literally 10-15 minutes from Saugatuck or South Haven, so there are plenty of restaurants and activities close nearby. There is also county park a couple of doors down, if you need a place for the kids to let off some steam or to walk the dog.
The cottage was great, the beach was wonderful, and we would not hesitate to book it again in the future.
If you want any privacy from the owners of the cabin or REAL private beach, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY!! The beach is on top of the local public beach, so there is no privacy. No way to leave anything on the beach if you need to run to cabin for any reason. Also, be ready to climb up and down about 100 very dangerous steps to access the âprivate beachâ. Also the owners are next door, like so close that they can see every single thing happening in the cabin if you leave the curtains open, which you need to in order to not melt away from the heat. You could sit on the patio of the rental and have a normal level conversation with the owners while they are on their patio because they are ON TOP OF YOU! The pictures donât show that there are also cabins surrounding you on every side that are super close as well. No view of the beach from the cabin. Booked because it accepted dogs, spoke with female owner about it, when we arrived the male owner acted as if we had brought a vicious 2 headed cobra instead of dogs. Booked for a week, was so disappointed we only stayed one night. Donât waste your money on this horrible and disappointing cabin.
Steve and Marsha in 1979 moved "back" to Michigan where we first met in 1970. We were thrilled to buy the property that was once owned by Steve's Grandfather which included our home and our rental cottage. We have rented the cottage for over 40 years and it has been a delight to meet the hundreds of vacationers that have rented our property over the years. The cottage has seen many updates since the beginning when it was truly rustic. Many of our weeks are booked a year ahead of time by the all our "returnees." We hope that you too can start to make many memories at "Burd's Cottage."
