Bond Manor Vacation Home by Estes Park Homes by RedAwning
Permit #3499
WELCOME TO BOND MANOR
Bond Manor is the residential estate of Estes Park's first sheriff, grocery
store owner and force behind the creation of the road to Estes from Loveland;
Cornelius H. Bond.
In 1905 with several partners, Bond founded the Estes Park Town Co. and moved
his family from Loveland. The following year, Abner Sprague surveyed the new
village of Estes Park and included a park for the town's municipal buildings.
In 1944, it was named Bond Park and today survives as the center of activity
for the Town of Estes Park.
Bond entered real estate business to sell lots in Estes Park. He knew that the
success of the town as a tourist attraction would be tied to its wildlife. He
paid half the expense of stocking the Big Thompson River with trout.
During the late 1800s, elk had been hunted to extinction by hunters that
supplied Denver restaurants with elk meat. Bond led the way in reintroducing
elk into the valley.
Elk were brought in by rail in 1913 and hauled by truck from the railhead in
Lyons to the park where they were released. Little did Bond know the elk would
be so successful that today, they would overpopulate the area.
Bond was instrumental in helping Estes Park with its infrastructure. He was
involved with the initiative to found the Estes Park Water Company and was one
of the directors of the Estes Park Electric Light and Power Company. Built in
1914, Bond Manor is an integral part of Estes Park's rich history.
BOND MANOR EXPERIENCE
Stop and sit a spell on the porch and take in the views of Longs Peak, the
Stanley Hotel and Lake Estes just as the Bond family did over 100 years ago.
Inside, the home offers guests historical charm including lathe and plaster
walls and ceilings, ornate woodwork, (sometimes creaky) hardwood floors and
myriad original period details and craftsmanship.
Enter the home at the living room, parlor and dining room which feature 9'
high wood beamed ceilings a wood burning stove, comfortable furnishings and
ornate trim work. Just beyond is the kitchen with modern double ovens and
5-burner range taking stead in the brick nook where the original wood-burning
ovens and stoves would have their place originally. Along with the historical
stylings, enjoy the modern amenities including microwave oven, side-by-side
refrigerator, dishwasher.
A small hall with electric piano offers admittance to the rear family room
which offers a massive upholstered sectional, cedar ceilings, wooden beam work
and big screen TV. Just beyond is the master bedroom with four-poster king-
sized bed, wood-burning fireplace and ensuite bath which features an elegant
clawfoot soaking tub, modern glass shower, double vanity with vessel sinks,
private water closet and private wet bar.
Accompanying the master ensuite is an additional king bedroom with ensuite
bath with tub and shower as well as an additional three quarter hall bath
(shower, no tub) that could provide overflow for the upstairs bedrooms.
The upstairs bedrooms include a king bedroom which shares access to the hall
3/4 bath with shower (no tub) and an additional queen guest room that can
access the ensuite bath of the king bedroom or utilize the downstairs hall
bathroom as desired.
The main floor is completed by a large utility room with washer, dryer, second
refrigerator/freezer and a convenient folding/sorting table and provides
access to the rear deck and BBQ grill.
WHAT'S NEARBY
The home is located just a short 7 minute walk to town offering easy access to
the grocery store, restaurants, gas stations and Estes Park's charming retail
shops. The Fall River entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is just 4 miles
away offering more than 300 miles of trails and over a quarter million acres
of the world's finest mountain vistas. Visitors enjoy wildlife watching,
fishing, snow shoeing, back-country skiing, horseback riding and so much more.
Three miles from Rhapsody is the Lake Estes Marina: the perfect place for
outdoor adventures during summertime offering kayak and canoe rentals as well
as fishing, paddle, and pontoon boat rentals for the entire family.
DISCLOSURE
Behind the home there is a separate carriage house with a full time, long-term
tenant. The two homes are separated by an inaccessible garden room which
provides privacy and sound buffer to you and the full-time resident.
