The apartment was in a beautiful location in the hills. Parking is tricky so rent a smaller car! It was a beautiful base for our trip and had most of what we needed. The views were wonderful.

I LOVED staying here. It was a side of LA I had truly never seen. I was skeptical about the view being so amazing, but it was EXACTLY as the picture. Breathtaking. The only thing I can say is the stovetop is a bit finnicky. The gas lights really quickly with a large flame, so stand a little back :) I would 150% stay again, and probably will!

Thank you so much for the glowing review! We are thrilled that the views lived up to the photos—it truly is a unique perspective of LA. We also really appreciate the heads-up about the stovetop; while that’s just the nature of high-output gas burners, we’ll make sure to add a note to our house manual so future guests know exactly what to expect. We can’t wait to welcome you back for your next stay!

A lovely stay in LA

I had the most amazing stay in the Secret Stairs apartment in the Hollywood Hills. The area felt super safe and was surrounded by the prettiest houses and nature but yet also so close to citylife (30 minute walk to the Walk of Fame). I went for a walk everyday and now I’m back home I miss it so much. The apartment was very clean and offered me just everything I needed. The matress could have been better, but everything else was just perfect. Thank you for having me! I will be back!

Uncomfortable set up with tenants on shared property, additional costs are exorbitant in comparison to the nightly rate.

The space was just as pictured. Great location. I was told I was alone with the main older tenant in the house only to find a 20 something male in a unit on the property. As a single woman I couldn't leave the door open to enjoy the view and had to keep blinds closed as he walked by. I also had to take steps to try and secure the front open window with no lock mechanism. There was a smell of pot that was overwhelming in the apartment even after I talked to management. This too away the charm and feeling of safety.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad you found the space was just as pictured and appreciated the great location. I want to sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced with your stay, especially the feeling of insecurity. The "20-something male" you saw is the owner's grandson. He stays in a separate unit on the property at times to help his grandparents, and we understand that this was not communicated clearly to you beforehand. Please know that the apartment you stayed in is a separate and private unit, and the owners are incredibly respectful of their guests' privacy. Our goal is for all guests, particularly those on a bucket-list trip to experience the incredible views and charm of our location, to feel completely safe and relaxed. We've taken your feedback to heart and will use it to improve our communication with future guests to ensure a more comfortable and secure experience.

Great hideaway

This place is cute and clean and has all the amenities you would need. It's up in the Hollywood hills so be aware that driving and parking on the street is a challenge, but it's doable. Views cannot be beat. The only complaint I had was we smelled weed almost constantly day and night coming through the vents. That's the only reason I didn't give the property 5 stars. I'm aware weed is legal in CA, but this was insane. Luckily it's always so beautiful there, so when we came home everyday we just opened windows and doors to let it air out.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Since smoking marijuana is legal in Los Angeles and we have no control when neighbors or other guests are smoking. Smoking is allowed outdoors only.

Perfect location

I was so happy we chose this beautiful and quiet location. In historic Hollywoodland high in the hills, we had a view of downtown and a nice cool breeze even in summer. There were people staying above us, but we never heard them. We also never heard the owners dog as other reviews mentioned. It has AC, but on especially warm nights we could run a portable AC (kept the main room COLD). The room with the daybed got warmer, but a tower fan when needed kept it comfortable. Keep in mind we were there in August, and the weather was warmer than usual. The secret (Saroyan) stairs of Hollywood are right outside the door and you can hike pretty close to the Hollywood sign. Studio was clean and comfortable and whatever extra supplies we needed could be picked up at the neighborhood Beachwood Market. Brunch was outstanding at the Beachwood Cafe, and a short drive away was Birds for dinner. The roads are super narrow and winding and there is limited parking, but everyone seems used to it and we didn’t encounter any problems. Management was super responsive when we didn’t see the extra towels on-site. Would definitely stay again.
