Wonderful experience hereâŠrental was nicely decorated, loved that we were able to walk to the beach, and that Sharon provided beach tags was a nice touch!
We had an amazing stay at the Salty Dog! The location was perfect and the space was more than enough for our group (three adults and one dog). Being so close to the beach was a huge advantage. Sharon was an excellent host and gave us plenty of recommendations for fun things to do in Cape May. We are looking forward to visiting again!
Our stay at The Salty Dog was absolutely wonderful! It was a perfect little cottage with a gorgeous screened in front porch, wonderful bedroom sizes, a simple and well equipped kitchen, comfy living room and lovely property. We walked to the beach every night to watch the sunset, walked to the pond to see the swans, and to the lighthouse for a tour. Nearby Beach Plum Farm is a can't miss. We loved our stay and can't wait to return to this perfect spot!
We had a great weekend here with our pup. Thanks! The place was clean, comfortable, and cute. The location is fantastic. Sharon was also very responsive and good to communicate with.
This was my fouth stay at the Salty Dog and I've loved it every time. Well appointed, clean, great location, and dog friendly. It is my favorite place to stay in Cape May.
This is our second time staying at the salty dog and we just love it. The location is great, the property is terrific. I especially love the screened in porch. The host is very responsive and helpful. Canât wait to stay again!
We stayed a week on the point and the Salty Dog offered everything we needed. This stylish bungalow is comfortable, clean and peaceful. We really enjoyed spending lazy afternoons on the screened in porch and is an easy few minutes drive to all that Cape May has to offer. One of the best points is that you can walk a block down the road for easy access to the beach, including sunsets without the crowds of other beaches.
A great little place for 2-3 adults. Quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Great area for walking! Close to beach and Lake! Would definitely stay here again!
We had a nice weekend in Cape May Point at the Salty Dog. The cottage was cozy and clean with a well equipped kitchen for a home of this size. Both beds were comfy and the screened in porch was great. The bathroom is pretty small, but it worked fine for us. We look forward to a return visit
My husband, two-year-old kid, two-year-old dog, and I stayed at the Salty Dog for our annual trip to Cape May Point. The house was absolutely perfect- adorable, well-equipped, great location, and the most comfortable beds we've ever had In a rental! Sharon was super responsive and available to answer our questions, but also gave us the privacy we were looking for. We can't wait to go back next year!
We had a great stay with beautiful weather allowing us to take advantage of the comfortable screened porch. Ideal for two and a dog! Nicely furnished, v clean, and just right kitchen facilities for 2. Relaxing retreat- we would love to come back!
We loved everything about our stay! The cottage is a short walk to the beach on a quiet, wooded lot with wildflowers. The generous porch had comfortable chairs and a table which was great for rainy days. The cottage was impeccable, beds were comfortable, and there were nice design touches throughout. The neighborhood is quiet and charming with plenty of pretty gardens to admire on the walk to the beach.
This was another great stay for me. Very comfortable, peaceful and clean. I would definitely recommend to friends. May is a great time of the year at CMP. Thank you! Heather
We enjoyed every minute of our stay in the Salty Dog! This cottage is completely renovated, beautifully decorated and had all the modern necessities for our family of 3. The location is perfect. We rode our bikes each to the beach which is 1 block away. We also took advantage of the quiet streets, the nearby lakes filled with natrual wildlife and the lighthouse. Sharon and her family, who we had the chance to meet, were very welcoming and friendly. If you have never been to the Point, I recommend a visit while staying at the Salty Dog!
We enjoyed our 5-day stay. The house and neighborhood are indeed pet-friendly . The kitchen is quite small, so if you plan on cooking up a storm, you might look someplace else, or at least bring your favorite pots & pans (and salad spinner) & note there is no dishwasher. Plenty of windows & ceiling fans, good ventilation (no musty smells in main house), nice screened porch, privacy, tucked back from the street. We were serenaded every evening by a Chuck-will's-widow, and it's a 5-minute walk to a quiet beach with beautiful sunsets.
Perfect size cottage and location. Short walk to the beach, 15 minute walk to lighthouse, surrounded by tall trees and quiet. Wonderful screened porch that runs the length of the cottage for reading, eating, and socializing. Small kitchen is adequate for those of us who like to cook. Comfy beds, sofas and chairs. Take your own sheets, pillowcases, and towels, but there are plenty of pillows. Lots of windows let in natural light. Wood floors. Outdoor shower is private and convenient. Host Sharon is friendly and responds immediately if you have questions. We will definitely return to the Salty Dog!
Cute cottage in peaceful neighborhood- walk to beach
Cottage was just what was needed for a relaxing week at the beach. Small but cozy and tastefully decorated. We had everything we needed for our trip. Kitchen was small but had the necessities: coffee maker, fridge, microwave, etc... Sharon and Peter were always there if we needed them. Loved sitting on the porch, reading and having our morning coffee. Beach is superclose walk and convenient to so many things (Bird Observatory, Lighthouse, Lake Lily, WWII tower, Beach plum farm, Sunset Beach). Great place to bike ride and enjoy the sea! We will be back!
My wife and I spent the weekend with our two dogs at the Salty Dog and had a wonderful time. The neighborhood was very quiet and we loved being within a short walk to the beach. The house was a perfect size for us and had everything we needed. We especially loved all the great books that we found around the house. We also really appreciated the beautiful slate-walled bathroom with excellent water pressure in the shower. The yard had a lovely mix of flowers, berries, and trees that provided a nice wild jungle kind of feel that we personally prefer over more manicured lawns. Sharon was very friendly and responsive, and even though we had everything we needed, we felt she was available in case we needed anything else. We look forward to coming back to Cape May, and we certainly hope the Salty Dog is available when we do.
This was a perfect location for us; dog-friendly & walkable to beach but were very disappointed in a variety of ways.
Outside looked nothing like the pix; unkempt & overgrown. Inside had broken bathroom fan (not fun with a bathroom and home of this size), broken window latches, and and inadequate security (simple door lock only and no ability to lock two windows). I personally prefer window coverings in my bedroom and bathroom; note that there are none.
Inadequate bedroom lighting. Had a few sheets of TP and paper towels and 2 oz. of dish detergent for our 5 day stay. Sharon did bring some over the net day. Bring colander for cooking and extension cords if you read in bed.
Expected more based on reviews and price point.
Also note there were skunks eating the porch pumpkin on the steps. We saw the skunk on the second day of our stay on the steps.
We just returned from our stay at this wonderful property and could not have been more pleased with the property and our host Sharon. The house itself is so charming and light-filled, has comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen. The decor of the house is great and is exactly as shown in the photos. All of our correspondence with Sharon was easy and we were fortunate enough to meet her on check out and enjoyed hearing more about the property and the gardens.
The house is within easy walking distance of the Red Store and Sunset Beach and is located in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood. Additionally, walking trails are close by at both the Cape May lighthouse and the adjacent bird habitats owned by the Nature Conservancy. A trip into town is only 5 - 10 minutes away.
If you are looking for a great getaway and a modern, clean, well equipped rental, I highly recommend this place.
Thanks to Sharon for being such a great and responsive host.
Highly recommend if you are
