À la Villa Magens, réveillez-vous au lever du soleil sur les falaises entourant la baie de Magens et endormez-vous au son des vagues de l'océan. Villa Magens est une maison exquise située sur une falaise surplombant la célèbre baie de Magens dans la belle St. Thomas, Îles Vierges. Cette villa a tous les logements de la vie de style complexe (piscine à débordement sur la baie, wifi, téléviseurs à écran plat avec DishNetwork), mais l'intimité de votre propre maison; accommodant facilement tous les âges. Cette villa offre une escapade isolée sur le côté tropical nord-est de St. Thomas. La villa embellit la beauté des lucarnes de plafond en verre teinté à la piscine en mosaïque. La cuisine entièrement équipée fait le bonheur des chefs; il a des comptoirs en granit noir et un mur d'éclaboussures, avec des placards en acajou. Chaque chambre a une salle de bain privée avec douche à l'italienne, de grands placards et des portes coulissantes en verre ouvrant sur la véranda. Les deux salons (à l'étage et au rez-de-chaussée) ouvrent également sur la baie avec des portes coulissantes en verre et sont équipés de télévisions à écran plat et de lecteurs DVD. Allongez-vous au bord de la piscine à débordement et profitez de la vue s'étendant sur la mer des Caraïbes. Beautiful property with the best view on the island. The pool is the perfect size. The deck is large. The kitchen is fully equipped. The beach is right down the hill which has a great bar/restaurant right there. The house is located on the opposite side of the island from the airport and the area where the cruise ships dock which is a good thing. You need a Jeep or 4WD vehicle to get to the house. The roads and driveway are daunting at first but you quickly become comfortable navigating around the island. The host is fantastic, terrific communicator via text. Overall 10/10 would love to go back!

Relaxing and peaceful

This place is great. Breathtaking views and a fantastic breeze. We hated to leave the house even to go out for dinner. This side of the islands is quiet and a great place to roost with friends and family. The owner and property manager were wonderful all the way through the process.

8 family members stayed here for a week in December, over Christmas. We all loved it very much. Terrilynn the host was an awesome help to us. The roads are something that needs help, but a beautiful location and home. There is NO hot tub if you were really needing that.

It was our first visit to St. Thomas so the roads were a surprise and challenging. The views were breathtaking and the house amazing. Very clean and comfortable; loved the pool. The property manager was great at her job.

We loved our stay at Villa Megan! The house was very clean and had a ton of space. The pool was refreshing at the end of the day. The views were absolutely unbeatable! St Thomas / Villa Magens Trip

We arrived with 3 couples and everyone enjoyed our stay at the Villa! Terrylyn was especially helpful with any issues we had, as well as navigating the island and its sites! The three master bedrooms with view's of Magens Bay couldn't have worked out any better with each couple having their own bathroom. The view and the pool were fantastic! Thanks again!

A little slice of Heaven on Earth

This gorgeous villa by the sea was just what the doctor ordered. This villa was spacious, immaculately kept and in a serene location that gave our family the peace and tranquility needed to recharge our batteries. Carole was wonderful to answer all of our questions both at check-in and throughout our stay. We suspect that this will be one of many trips to Villa Magens. Thank you to the owners for being some of the best hosts we have had in the 16 years we have been renting VBROs. Nothing bad to say about this magnificent place.

Beautiful and relaxing getaway!

The owners of the property were very easy to communicate with. And I had many questions or requests. All were answered, including someone to drive part of our party to the property, as they were arriving early, as well as leading us to the house upon arrival. The house was perfect for 3 couples. It was relaxing and beautiful sunrises to start each day. The house manager is awesome and answered all questions. The wildlife is great. Goats and iguanas were fantastic entertainment.

Just what we wanted.

We were met at the airport and led to Villa Magens. We were met inside by Terrilyn who walked us through the house. The house is secluded and very private. It looks just like the pictures. The sunrises and sunsets were incredible. Two bedrooms are upstairs and 1 down. They all felt like “the main”. The kitchen was well appointed with 3 different options for making coffee and even a waffle maker and crockpot. We were well looked after by Terrilyn.

Fabulous family vacation

Staying at Villa Magens helped make the best family vacation we have had on our 25 years of marriage. While we were initially concerned with the surrounding construction, the crews proved very respectful, and it was hardly noticeable. The location was exactly the type of privacy and relaxation we were looking for. There were a couple of hiccups along the way that can be attributed to island life, but Terrilynn and her crew went above and beyond our expectations and were able to resolve any issues. We can be very particular, but I cannot say enough about her and her willingness to help. There are a few cosmetic things that need addressing, but nothing that would prevent our staying here again.

A Caribbean Gem

The pictures and property description are fantastic, but the real place is much greater. We went to bed every night with the sounds of the ocean and a cool breeze coming through the home. The views are breathtaking and we got up every single morning to watch the sunrise. Hull Bay is an amazing location away from the hustle and bustle. Very few tourists. After each sunrise, we walked down the hill to go snorkeling in the bay. We met so many nice locals and really felt at home. Be sure to check out The Shack and Fish Bar for some of the best eats on the island. The house itself is beautiful. Fully stocked with everything you need and accommodated my entire extended family. It was very hard to leave this home and we can't wait to return.

Villa Magens

Villa Magens is a beautiful property. It is very spacious, clean, and what a view! There was a nice breeze every day which kept insects away. The iguanas and goats roaming the shoreline were very interesting to watch from our veranda. The infinity pool is beautiful. The lights in the pool weren't working but was no major thing as there are plenty of lights in the area. We used the grill and the appliances in the kitchen that was well stocked with everything when we cooked at the villa. We were all very happy at Villa Magens. If there is a con, it was the distance from everything. That did not bother us a lot because we have used the same taxi driver for years that we have been vacationing in St Thomas and she was always available to take us anywhere, anytime. We all hated to leave that beautiful paradise. Thank you for listing on VRBO.

A Perfect Place to Make Memories

I was looking for a place that would be a good fit for my family and Villa Magens was just the ticket. Exactly as pictured and described, three differently decorated but similarly large bedrooms each offer privacy, generous bathrooms plus closet, and a terrace with a brilliant view onto Magens Bay. The dream kitchen is expansive offering every convenience, spices and condiments, excellent cookware and best of all -- in my opinion -- sharp knives! It allowed all of us to cook together and socialize. Also, with a huge terrace on two levels, a pool (immaculate), two family rooms and dining room for six, everyone had a place to go on his/her own to sleep in, quietly enjoy the view or to read. Then there is a choice of spaces to gather for coffee, to chat, enjoy family meals, play board games, or sip evening cocktails. During my planning, our host was immediately responsive answering all of my questions promptly and graciously. His local representative was warm and welcoming. She met us and showed us around, gave solid advice for driving, shopping, and renting snorkeling gear (Snorkel the Wetside). She responded to any question and concern and was simply delightful. Thank you, Terrlyn! Villa Magens is quiet, private and off the beaten path on the "north side," side so a car is necessary. But it is a small island, so everything is accessible. Villa Magens is ideal for a mixed group like my family, or multiple couples. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Villa Magens St. Thomas: Serious Maintenance Issues!

I’ll try to be short, succinct, fair and balanced. The POSITIVES: Million Dollar View, located in a very peaceful and quiet end of the island. Outside deck and Pool are phenomenal. If you want peace and serenity, this is an exceptional location. 25 Minute drive to town, but overall doable if your comfortable driving on left side of road. The NEGATIVES: This property is under new management and based on all communications through VRBO App and emails they are less than reputable. Onsite management resource rarely was available when needed, which was pretty much every day. Management company claimed they were unaware of the poor condition of the property which is hard to believe based on comments from previous renters review in December who had the same issues. Bottom line Villa Magens should have never been rented based on its current condition. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: Broken Windows, Windows Missing and Boarded Up, Sliding Glass Doors that do not lock, Internal Electrical Problems with Lighting, Significant Water Supply Issues, (had to turn off and isolate water pump every night), No Hot Water in one Upstairs Bedrooms & Downstairs Half/Bath, Internet and Satellite TV issues, Broken Deck Furniture, Dilapidated Gas Barbeque, Evidence of Roof Leaks and Mold, and last but not least RODENT Infestation, found Mouse and Rat Feces in Kitchen, Laundry Room and Bathroom. They had poison traps out, so they knew of the problem. RODENTS ate fruit that was on counter and there was feces on counter. We tried to work out an amicable resolution with a partial refund, but all I got were excuses, half-truths and blaming COVID. RECOMMENDATION - Walk away from this rental! Villa Management is questionable. If you want more info or actual pictures, videos, texts and emails to Villa Manager, I have them all to support my claim. Looks like Owner now has removed his listing with VRBO which is positive proof of our claim!

The government of the Virgin Islands closed all travel to the USVI due to COVID-19 restrictions and for 9 months the villa was not occupied. In hindsight, we allowed guests to make reservations prior to my availability to travel to the island and re-open the villa. The housekeeping staff was not able to keep up with the demands of the guests that wrote this review and we did refund the guests. Since then I have personally been to the villa and have taken charge of the maintenance of the house. Please understand that St. Thomas is an island with no industry so EVERYTHING has to be shipped and worldwide shipping is dealing with gaps in the supply chain. The two windows that were broken in the hurricane 2 years ago are still boarded because we CAN NOT get replacements from Anderson window – they are on permanent back order. To address the issues you listed: Broken pipe: The pipe was fixed numerous times and finally totally replaced – FIXED Sliding glass doors: The sliding glass doors face the ocean and the salt spray rust the fittings faster than they can be replaced. ALL the doors have lock bars that fit in the tracks so they cannot be opened from the outside. All the sliding doors and the sliding screen doors have been repaired – FIXED Rodent infestation: This is an island inhabited by large iguanas, parrots, rodents, bugs, stray cats, and stray dogs --- if you leave the doors wide open and open food lying about you may unintentionally invite unwelcome “guests”. The villa has a Pest Control Company on contract, and they handled the reported pest problem – FIXED Electrical issues: This was due to the salt spray and the villa being closed for nine months which allowed corrosion to cause electrical malfunctions. Electrician has replaced all the bad connections – FIXED Gas Grill: Gas grills rust within days because of the salt spray and the grill was not put inside prior to villa being closed. Grill has been replaced – FIXED

Breathtaking views

Our stay at Villa Magens was magical. The villa was stocked with everything we needed. There were plenty of amenities and the place was so spacious. The views were out of this world. The best I’ve ever seen! My family loved the pool and deck area. It was paradise. Super close to Hull Bay and The Shack which was our favorite spot this trip to eat. Would recommend!!

My 60th Birthday.

First time in the US VI. My wife, two grown sons along with my daughter n law spent a week celebrating my 60th birthday at Villa Magens. The 3 master suites gave us all plenty of privacy. The kitchen was well equipped. The pool and the view are wonderful. We were greeted near the airport and given an escort to the property. Above and beyond. Thank you for your hospitality. We had a great time.

When you stay at Villa Magens, you are staying in a home designed and built by a true pioneer. Capt. Latham Smith is a world-renowned tugboat captain and maritime engineer whose life story reads like an adventure novel:

A Lifelong Builder: Latham built his first tugboat in 1969 at the age of 29, which he then navigated through the winding waters of the Amazon River.

Global Voyager: By age 62, he had designed and built his fourth tugboat, with his vessels traveling as far as Singapore.

Epic Missions: At 73, he completed a monumental mission, towing two retired U.S. Navy warships all the way from Sydney, Australia, back to New Orleans.

SpaceX Pioneer: On April 16, 2016, Capt. Latham made history by successfully towing Elon Musk’s SpaceX rocket from the ocean back to the launch base—the first successful recovery of its kind.

The Villa: A Vision of Strength
Capt. Latham applied the same engineering precision used in his ocean-crossing tugboats to the design of Villa Magens. Built with reinforced concrete to withstand the elements, this villa is as solid as the ships he created.

Today, Latham and his wife, Rui Smith, reside on the island occasionally. They are proud to share this piece of Caribbean paradise—and a bit of maritime history—with you.
